Welcome to another horror/sci-fi round-up! This time around we have word of two big cast confirmations for Independence Day 2, details on Scream Factory's Deep in the Darkness Blu-ray / DVD release, and information on the new Blanc/Biehn Productions film, Treachery.
Independence Day 2: Last night it was revealed that the first official cast member had signed on to star in Roland Emmerich's Independence Day 2, the sequel to his 1996 film that featured massive alien-induced destruction and larger-than-life characters. It's now been confirmed that one of those characters will be coming back, as Emmerich tweeted last night that Jeff Goldblum will appear in the sequel, likely reprising his role as the brainy and dryly humorous David Levinson, who teamed up with fighter pilot Captain Steven Hiller to take down the mothership in the original film. Smith will not be coming back to reprise his role as Steven.

We thought readers in the Los Angeles area would be interested in an upcoming signing event for The Victim, with Michael Biehn, Jennifer-Blanc Biehn, and Danielle Harris in attendance.
“Good time girls Annie (Jennifer Blanc) and Mary (Danielle Harris) find themselves in a life and death situation. Annie’s life is put in jeopardy when she is witness to a violent act at the hands of two Sheriff’s Deputies (Ryan Honey, Denny Kirkwood). With her pursuers closing in, she stumbles across Kyle (Michael Biehn, Terminator, Aliens, The Rock), a recluse living in the middle of the woods. A rugged loner, Kyle finds the stillness of the woods comforting. He keeps civilization at arm’s length; that is – until a single knock on his door throws his solitary life into chaos. Two worlds collide in this nerve-fraying thriller that will keep audiences guessing until the very last frame.”

The case of who created White Collar has ended in a private settlement. “The litigation has been resolved and is in the process of being dismissed,” is all plaintiff Travis Romero’s lawyer Rhett Francisco would tell Deadline today. The case was scheduled for a March 2013 trial that could have seen the Executive Producer of the USA Network series plus some Fox TV Studio executives and CAA agents asked some potentially embarrassing questions about their conduct and practices. The studio and agency men allegedly encouraged Eastin to cut Romero out of the profits from the show and his co-creator credit. CAA represents Eastin. Fox TV produces the high class crime drama, now in its third season.
