It’s time to loosen up, ditch the script, and learn the ins and outs of improv comedy. In an effort to give back to its community of aspiring talents, the Second City Hollywood is opening its doors to all L.A. performers by offering free workshops and shows on Saturday, May 6. The historic comedy center will offer a number of workshops, including musical improv, writing for TV and film, writing comedy, standup, adult improv, youth improv, and long-form improv. Next week is the third week of May, and the perfect time to meet with agents and casting directors before the summer season kicks off! Meet Backstage Expert Brette Goldstein, a musical theater casting director, a Buchwald jr. agent, and more at Backstage University next week. On Monday, May 18 perform a scene for agent Jeremy Leiner of Nicolosi & Co. Nicolosi is one of New York’s most respected boutique agencies, with clients on Broadway, in national tours, and in prominent roles in film and on television. Leiner will be working with students individually and offering his invaluable personal feedback. Also on Monday, meet with bi-coastal CD (and Backstage Expert) Brette Goldstein. Goldstein casts films and commercials all over the East Coast and New England, as well as in Los Angeles. She will be pre-assigning sides and working with each actor on-camera. Starting off the week with a great new webinar in our continuing online series, actors can sign up for How to Audition for TV with Lori Malkin, the casting director for the upcoming NBC series "Taxi Brooklyn." Next, we have a Tuesday double-header. First, we have an on-camera audition intensive with Casting Director Brette Goldstein. Brette is a very busy CD who casts on both coasts!
