Identity is a prevalent theme in Russell Peters’ stand-up, and it also serves as the launch pad for the laughs in “The Indian Detective,” his new four-episode series now streaming on Netflix.
“Identity comedy is universal. I may be talking about my Indian parents, but I know that my ‘Indian’ parents are the same as everyone’s parents in some way — Greek, Italian, Arab, Chinese,” Peters said. “That’s what my audience is responding to. I’m also exploring race and culture, and a lot of people aren’t comfortable with that.”
In “The Indian Detective,” Peters stars as Toronto Police constable Doug D’Mello, a man desperate to prove his salt and be promoted to detective, but instead winds up suspended following a bust gone wrong. It appears that ABC intends for The Assets to be a mini-series with just eight episodes. But, if the show is a big hit in the ratings, can a second season be far behind? What will happen? Stay tuned!
The Assets revolves around the real life events of CIA counter-intelligence officers Sandy Grimes (Jodie Whittaker) and Jeanne Vertefeuille (Harriet Walter) and their search for the most notorious traitor in Us History, Aldrich Ames (Paul Rhys). Others in the cast include Stuart Milligan, Julian Ovenden, Christina Cole, and Ralph Brown.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show's likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available -- usually the next day, around 11:30am Est/8:30am Pst. Refresh to see the latest.

NBC's "Rosemary's Baby" adaptation came and went with little fanfare and extremely weak ratings. We've yet to hear a single comment about it from any of our readers or amongst the DC staff. Having finally watched it myself, I was shocked to find that I kind of loved it...
And I wholeheartedly recommend you seek it out for several reasons, five of which are below. First, however, right off the bat I have to say I'm a big fan of Roman Polanski's 1968 film version of Ira Levin's Rosemary's Baby novel, but then again, who isn't? I think we can all agree it's iconic.
So one strike against the miniseries just by virtue of the fact that it has the balls to exist in the same universe as the movie.

Try as I might, I can't feel like NBC's miniseries version of "Rosemary's Baby" is a disgrace. I know that I should. Roman Polanski's 1968 adaptation of Ira Levin's tightly-written suspense potboiler is a masterpiece on every level. It's disturbing and scary, which is why people remember it as a horror classic. But in certain places, it's also absolutely hilarious with a vein of dark humor that qualifies confidently as camp, but never jeopardizes the visceral tension. And that balance is perfectly captured through every performance, from Mia Farrow in the lead role, to John Cassavetes, Sidney Blackmer and the incomparable Ruth Gordon. And every way in which Polanski's "Rosemary's Baby" works, Agnieszka Holland's NBC adaptation falls short. But... duh. A review that says "NBC's 'Rosemary's Baby' is bad because Roman Polanski's 'Rosemary's Baby' is good" accomplishes nothing, even if it's both true and a tremendously efficient piece of criticism.

Miniseries have been all the rage on TV lately, with various adaptations, remakes and even original ideas getting green-lit by every network in hopes of drawing viewers in for ‘event’ shows. The strategy worked exceedingly well for CBS last summer with Stephen King adaptation Under The Dome, and premium networks have been raking in the ratings with acclaimed miniseries like The Returned, Top of the Lake and Klondike. And with everything from a Hillary Clinton biopic to an adaptation of Stephen King’s Tommyknockers in the works, it doesn’t look like miniseries will be going away anytime soon.

Following on from essentially a logo only teaser, NBC have now revealed the first footage from its upcoming two-part, four-hour mini-series adaptation of Ira Levin's "Rosemary's Baby". The current clip is geolocked so only people in the United States can see it.
Zoe Saldana stars as Rosemary, "Suits" actor Patrick J. Adams is the husband, while Jason Isaacs, Christina Cole and Carole Bouquet have supporting roles. This version is set in Paris, not New York like the famed Roman Polanski film, and no specific date is yet set other than a generic 'Summer 2014' one.

This new adaptation centers on a young married couple who escape New York and move to Paris with hopes of leaving their sad past behind. After a series of unfortunate events, Rosemary and Guy Woodhouse are presented with an offer they can’t refuse: an apartment at the most prestigious address in the city.
Problem is, it comes with a haunted past and an immeasurable price.

First it was Hannibal Lecter, now NBC is giving viewers a fresh take on a new iconic film character and asking viewers "What lengths are you willing to go for success and fortune?" The story of a woman who finds herself at the center of the mother of an occult ritual was originally played on the big screen by Mia Farrow in 1968. The unfortunate baby mama in this updated miniseries is Zoe Saldana (Avatar, Star Trek).
In addition to a brand new cast: Patrick J. Adams (Suits) plays Rosemary's husband Guy, Christina Cole (Casino Royale) as Julie, a friend of Rosemary's, while James Isaacs (Awake) and French actress Carole Bouquet take the reigns as the infamous Castevets. Whether we actually needed an update of the classic Roman Polanski chiller Rosemary’s Baby is still unclear, but NBC is nevertheless sending one our way later this year. Starring Avatar actress Zoe Saldana in the lead role of a newlywed mother-to-be who begins to suspect that her husband and new neighbors may have dark plans for her unborn child, the four-hour miniseries, now filming in Paris, will find its way to the small screen this May.
