Joseph Calabrese(I)
- Writer
- Director
- Editor
Armed with a few friends and an old "Super 8" camera, Joseph spent his
entire youth making short films in the woods around Boston.
In the 1980s and 90s, he worked in various crew assignments on several television, industrial, commercial and indie short and feature films, as well as helming my own projects. He has worked professionally for over 20 years from PA to Grip, AD to Director, FX Artist, Editor and DVD creator.
As a working Screenwriter, he took 3rd place in 2003 Slamdance's Slam-Fi for his sci-fi, religious thriller "Second Coming." As a direct result of that win, Joseph was hired to rewrite the med-budget sci-fi comedy, "How Illegal is your Alien," and the low-budget horror film, "Hooked."
He periodically teaches as well as providing professional screenplay coverage and consultation for writers and producers world-wide. Joseph also moderates the screen/tv/stage writing forum at Absolutewrite.com
To date, Joseph has one produced writing credit, two options, three rewrites for hire. He has won, placed or made top 10% in over a half dozen major competitions and has covered and consulted over a hundred screenplays, several of which have since been sold, optioned, or gained high honors in many competitions.
