BBC Studios Productions CEO Ralph Lee will exit the BBC’s commercial wing in April. He is leaving after six years to “pursue a new challenge outside the organisation.”
BBC Studios has initiated a search for a replacement, with Lee saying “the right time to explore other opportunities.”
Lee joined BBC Studios as Director of Content in 2018 and was made CEO of BBC Studios Productions in 2022, when the BBC pooled its Scripted, Factual, Global Entertainment and Kids & Family divisions into one single production hub.
Former Channel 4 Deputy Chief Creative Officer Lee has overseen production on returning and continuing titles such as Strictly Come Dancing, Happy Valley 3, EastEnders, Doctor Who, Prehistoric Planet, Good Omens, The Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final, Planet Earth III, The Coronation of King Charles III, Silent Witness and Black Ops – and original podcast series such as Vishal and Believe in Magic.

Ralph Lee, BBC Studios Productions’ CEO, will be leaving the BBC’s commercial arm in April after almost six years to pursue a new challenge outside the organization.
Since being appointed director of content in 2018, “Lee has guided BBC Studios Productions to unrivaled creative recognition – winning 111 awards and 400 nominations in the ’22/’23 financial year alone – and becoming the most awarded production group at the BAFTA and Rts Awards,” BBC Studios said on Thursday.
BBC Studios has initiated a search for Lee’s successor.
“Ralph’s leadership has been a game-changer for our production business, taking BBC Studios to creative and award-winning heights in every genre, both domestically and internationally,” said BBC Studios CEO Tom Fussell. “His calm stewardship through and out of the Covid pandemic was invaluable, and he’s attracted outstanding talent like Kate Ward, Rich Knight and Cecilia Persson to our organization, whilst overseeing global expansion and growth among our production units,...

Hooked on Freddie, a UK original limited series from Wondery and Blanchard House, journeys back to the late 1980s to tell the gripping and controversial real-life story of a dolphin, Freddie, whose visit to Amble, Northumberland, UK, turns the sleepy seaside town upside down.
Hosted by award-winning journalist Becky Milligan, the six-part series follows Alan Cooper, a lifelong animal rights campaigner committed to freeing captive dolphins, who forms a deep bond with Freddie. But when Alan’s friendship with Freddie is turned against him – and he is accused of subjecting the dolphin to an unspeakable act – the rumours trigger a tabloid scandal that grips the nation and a legal case unlike any the courts have ever heard before. And Alan is in the fight of his life.
Becky Milligan (The Home Babies) first encountered, and even swam with, Freddie the dolphin as a student journalist, and has followed the strange case closely ever since.

As you might guess, this entire article is full of spoilers for Inception, so if you haven’t seen it, go see it before reading any of this. We’ll wait. When the first trailers for Inception debuted, it had people asking what it was all about. Now that the film has hit theaters, it has people asking what it’s all about. As the antidote for the mindless action flick – yet staying tucked away in the world of the accessible – Christopher Nolan has created an intense work of art that promises to prompt theories well into the next decade. What follows is three different explanations for the film. You can decide how correct any or all of them are. McCurry Films and ZenWeasel Films recently announced that their joint production Slices, a horror anthology, is now finished. The new poster seen below was created by filmmaker/FX artist Marcus (100 Tears) Koch, and Lance Polland, one of the contributing filmmakers, gave Fango some info about the flick.
“Slices is in the vein of such movies as The Twilight Zone or the Creepshow series—five different stories, five different styles” he tells us before going on to detail the individual tales. “ ’The Exterminator,’ directed by Vito [B-movie: The Making Of Farmhouse Massacre] Trabucco, is very much in the style of Saw or Hostel. It centers on a big business CEO who gets kidnapped and tortured by one of his own henchmen. ‘The Range,’ which I directed, is a period piece set in the Old West. It features three Confederate soldiers on the run who come face to face with flesheating zombies.
