- Francis won the NBA Rookie of the Year honors in 2000 as a Houston Rocket, but had to share the award with co-winner Elton Brand of the Chicago Bulls.

- Was the 2nd overall pick in the 1999 NBA draft by the Vancouver Grizzlies, but never played a single game for them. Francis quickly demanded a trade because he did not want to play in Vancouver because it was too far away from his family in Maryland and too cold. In an 11-player deal, which was at the time the largest trade in NBA history, Francis was traded to the Houston Rockets.
- Was voted an All-Star starter representing the Houston Rockets for the Western Conference in the 2002 NBA All-Star Game (2002), 2003 NBA All-Star Game (2003) and 2004 NBA All-Star Game (2004).

- Waived by the Memphis Grizzlies after reaching a buyout agreement. Francis did not appear in a single game for the team. (January 2009)
- On February 22nd, 2006, one day before the trade deadline, the Orlando Magic traded Francis to the New York Knicks in exchange for Penny Hardaway and Trevor Ariza.
- (23 December) Traded to the Memphis Grizzlies for a 2011 conditional draft pick. (2008)
- On June 29th, 2004, Francis was traded by Houston Rockets along with Cuttino Mobley, and Kelvin Cato to the Orlando Magic in exchange for Tracy McGrady, Juwan Howard, Tyronn Lue, and Reece Gaines.
