The late Stan Lee’s Pow! Entertainment is getting Restless. The company is teaming with Starlings Television and Atalaya Productions to develop a TV series about a Native American homicide detective.
Lee created the character, begins to inherit the mystical powers of his American Indian ancestors after his father’s death. Oscar winner Wes Studi will play the protagonist’s grandfather.
Grimm alum David Greenwalt is set as showrunner and will write the series with James Dalessandro (1906). Chris Philip, Pow! Entertainment president Gill Champion, Giovanni Orlando, Larry Jacobson and Karine Martin are the executive producers.
Restless centers on homicide detective Adam Chaco. When his estranged father dies, Adam begins to inherit the mystical powers of his American Indian ancestors, particularly his grandfather Mohe (Studi), a powerful, revered shaman. Adam is forced to come to terms with a heritage he has long sought to escape, while facing down supernatural criminals he could never have imagined.

The good news about The Boy Behind the Gate by Larry Jacobson (Buoy Press, $27.95), a memoir about a gay man's actual five-year journey around the world by sailboat, is that it includes a wealth of detail about the journey, taken from actual emails and journal entries written during the journey itself.
The bad news about The Boy Behind the Gate is this wealth of detail.
On one hand, you have a very real sense of what Larry went though, the problems big and (mostly) small that a person might encounter on a journey sailing around the world.
On the other hand, the book isn't a "story," with a theme and a beginning, middle, and end, so much as a list of actual chronological events, some admittedly interesting, others not so much.
Worse, there isn't a enough detail about some of the most interesting things in the book, like Larry's relationship with Ken,...

Six months after the shocking death of Avenged Sevenfold drummer Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan, a coroner's report has revealed that the 28-year-old died as a result of an accidental overdose of strong prescription painkillers and alcohol.
According to Rolling Stone, Orange County Deputy Coroner Mitchell Sigal determined from toxicology tests that Sullivan's December 28 death was a result of "acute polydrug intoxication due to combined effects of oxycodone, oxymorphone, diazepam/nordiazepam and ethanol."
Those drugs include a pair of painkillers that work, respectively, like codeine and morphine, an anti-anxiety medication and the active intoxicant in alcohol. Sigal also noted that Sullivan also had an enlarged heart, which was noted in the coroner's report as a "significant condition" that may have contributed to his death.

"He was somebody who just had a warmth and an easy smile and a laugh, and he was as smart as they come. You could sit and talk to him about anything. He was expressive. He'd tell you how he felt about you — you didn't wonder, because he'd put his arm around you. He knew how to tell his friends he loved them."
-Avenged Sevenfold manager Larry Jacobson, speaking candidly to the Orange County Register about late A7X drummer Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan, who died earlier this week of still-undetermined causes. As we reported earlier today, the outpouring of support and sympathy for Sullivan's bandmates, friends and family has been as overwhelming as his passing. The people closest to him got together on Monday (December 28) to share memories and stories about the drummer, an event that, according to Jacobson, ranged from "deep and somber to smiles and laughs...

According to his manager, in the week before his sudden death, Avenged Sevenfold drummer James "The Rev" Sullivan appeared to be in good health and spirits. The 28-year-old rocker, who was found unresponsive in his Huntington Beach, California, home on Monday, attended a friend's wedding reception a few days before his death and seemed to be healthy and happy, said the band's manager, Larry Jacobson.
At the wedding, Jacobson told the Orange County Register, Sullivan talked about the Lasik eye surgery he'd recently undergone and the new car he just bought. "He was somebody who just had a warmth and an easy smile and a laugh, and he was as smart as they come," said Jacobson, who added that Sullivan...

Stan Lee's Nick Ratchet has, er, ratcheted up a notch or two with writers Douglas Cook and David Weisberg signing on to pen the script. The comic-book legend's story is a mystery-thriller about a meek police officer transformed Jekyll and Hyde-style into Nick Ratchet, a tough avatar cop who emerges from a video game to assume control of his creator. Cook and Weisberg co-scripted The Rock so should know a thing or two about mild-mannered law enforcers turning seriously alpha. As reported last month, Nick Ratchet is one of three projects Lee's set up with Disney via his Pow! Entertainment imprint. Like Nick Ratchet, the others, Blaze and Tigress, are based on characters he hints may see the light of day on the page as well as the screen: "You either have a great comic-book and it becomes a great movie, or you have a great movie that becomes a great comic-book,...

Comic book legend Stan Lee has set up three projects at Disney, which houses his production shingle POW! Entertainment. The projects have attracted Oscar nominee Richard LaGravenese, scribe Gary Goldman and Robert Teitel and George Tillman Jr. of State Street Pictures.
The projects are based on stories and ideas from Lee, who will executive produce with his POW! partner Gill Champion.
Lee and Champion said the projects are intended to be tentpoles with franchise potential, with the first installments intended to serve as an origin story that lays out the mythology of the plot and characters.
"I only hope Disney will have room at the theme park once they become the tentpole franchises that we envision them to be," Lee joked.
LaGravenese is attached to write and direct Nick Ratchet, revolving around the exploits of a private eye. Sonny Grosso and Larry Jacobson are in talks to produce.
LaGravenese, repped by CAA, last wrote and directed P.S. I Love You. He was nominated for an Oscar for writing The Fisher King.
The action-adventure project Blaze is being written by Goldman (Next), who is repped by APA.
