Maika Monroe, Maggie Grace and Bonnie Bedelia star in The Scent Of Rain And Thunder - an unmissable indie thriller...
There are some movies that come at us with all the subtlety of a charging rhino. There are others that encourage us to lean in, listen closely, and absorb every detail. The Scent Of Rain And Lightning, a mystery-thriller based on a novel by Nancy Pickard, falls into the latter category - which is one reason why it's such a must-see movie.
Told with intimate close-ups and a dreamlike blurring of the past and present, The Scent Of Rain And Lightning tells the story of Jody Linder (Maika Monroe), an Oklahoman 20-something whose psychological wounds are reopened when a lank-haired, loathsome character named Billy (Brad Carter) is suddenly released from prison. When Jody was still a child, her parents were both brutally murdered, and the finger of suspicion quickly fell on Billy.

Ioncinema.com’s Ioncinephile of the Month feature focuses on an emerging filmmaker from the world of cinema. Prior to the film’s TriBeCa Film Festival world premiere debut, we’ve had the pleasure to profile Lance Edmands on a couple of occasions, namely, our In the Pipeline spotlight. Matching the frigid, desolate Maine backdrop with a communal sense of sorrow, Bluebird features an outstanding group performance with Amy Morton leading a cast comprised of Louisa Krause, Emily Meade, Margo Martindale, Adam Driver and John Slattery (the Karlovy Vary Film Festival honored the four women). Usually, we get more into the mechanics of the film, but we took the opportunity to discuss technology and distribution – both changed tremendously during the film’s journey. Kavana has claimed that Perez Hilton wasn't "prescribed heavy sleeping pills", instead getting just Nytol, during an interview following his eviction on Celebrity Big Brother last night (February 4).
The singer, who went out before Hilton in yesterday's live double eviction, also touched on his previous admission of being homeless, and revealed that Katie Price has asked him to be her wedding singer.
Speaking to Digital Spy and others about how he feels now he's left the house, he laughed: "Talk about twisted fairytale... I mean you couldn't have even wrote it, I need psychotherapy for the next two years!"
On what almost drove him mad, he replied: "Perez singing the musical theatre numbers while frothing at the mouth... was quite a moment. I mean it was the Perez Show, but it was dark and twisted."

It ended the only way that Shameless could. With a car on fire, a pub-load of punters and families partying, a police chase and the overwhelming message that even in the worst situations and with the worst people, there is always something holding us together. Family matters.
Paul Abbott's comedy drama has spanned an impressive 11 series and despite many cast departures, the show has maintained a loyal audience and tonight's (May 28) finale delivered a treat for those who have stuck with the show from the very start.
