Scott Jordan has deep pockets. Literally. But like most fast-growing startups, he could always use some extra cash. So the founder of Scottevest and Tec, which makes jackets and vests with extra pockets for gadgets and other gear, took his pitch to ABC's "Shark Tank" -- and got a little more than he bargained for.
While his company is on pace to make $24 million in revenue this year and has licensing deals with the likes of Ralph Lauren and Timberland, Jordan found himself under attack from billionaire "shark" Mark Cuban both on air and during a lengthy exchange on Twitter. Full casting has been announced for Open The Dark Door, an indie rock musical by David Lefort Nugent that confronts the modern American justice system. Starring in the production at the 2009 New York Musical Theatre Festival are Broadway's Mary Ellen Ashley (Annie Get Your Gun), Paul Kandel (Tommy, Titanic, Jesus Christ Superstar), Laura Jordan (Cry Baby), and Andrew McGinn (Coast of Utopia). The production will feature direction from Susanna Gellert (Fugue States at Ps 122) and runs from October 8th to October 17th at the American Theatre of Actors.

Toronto -- Kim Clements has been hired as showrunner for "Shattered," a character-driven Canadian cop drama from E1 Television being shopped stateside.
E1, which this week sold "Copper," another of its cop dramas, to ABC, has "Shattered" in development as a pilot at Canadian broadcaster Global Television and set for a Canadian series pickup.
John Morayniss, president of E1 Television, said "Shattered" has been shopped to the U.S. networks and a deal is expected before long.
The pilot for the cop drama from Force Four Films and E1 featured Callum Keith Rennie as a damaged recluse who solves crimes using his multiple-personality disorder.
Billed as " 'CSI' meets 'A Beautiful Mind,' the "Shattered" pilot also starred Laura Jordan as a special investigator who teams up with Kyle Logan (Rennie).

Late last year I had the chance to visit the set of Fox Home Entertainment's Joy Ride 2: Dead Ahead, which finally arrives on DVD October 7th. While on set I put the spotlight on the cast and crew and conducted a stack of video interviews for the film, which can all be viewed over at Bdtv. Fox Home Entertainment has announced Joy Ride 2: Dead Ahead, which stars Nicki Aycox, Nick Zano, Laura Jordan, and Kyle Schmid. The disc will be available to own from the 7th October, and should retail at around $26.98. The film itself will be presented in anamorphic widescreen, along with an English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround track. Extras will include a Joy Ride 2: The Making of Dead Ahead featurette, a Blood and Guts: The Make-Up of Horror featurette, and a Storyboard-to-Scene Comparison. John Corbett has been tapped to star in ABC's untitled hotel drama pilot from writer-producer Armyan Bernstein and Warner Bros. TV. Also cast in the pilot are Michael Rispoli, Jenny Wade (MTV's Undressed), Laura Jordan (Final Draft) and Sara Ramirez (HBO's Baseball Wives). Set in a luxury hotel in the Bahamas, the show revolves around the interactions among guests and hotel staffers. The project, initially developed this past development season for fall 2003 consideration, was pushed to midseason in March (HR 3/13). Corbett will play the hotel's manager, while Rispoli will play the chief of security. Wade will play the assistant manager, and Ramirez will play a housekeeper.
