Whitesnake are reissuing and expanding their covers album, The Purple Album, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of singer David Coverdale joining Deep Purple.
Originally released in 2015, The Purple Album was recorded by Coverdale along with guitarist Reb Beach, bassist Michael Devin, guitarist Joel Hoekstra, and drummer Tommy Aldridge, who, at the time, was appearing on a Whitesnake studio album for the first time since 1989. The collection cherry-picked songs from the three LPs Coverdale recorded with Deep Purple: Burn (1974), Stormbringer (1974), and Come Taste the Band (1975).

Lee Kerslake, the drummer on two of Ozzy Osborne’s most critically hailed albums and for hard rock band Uriah Heep, has died. He passed away on Saturday after a long battle with prostate cancer, according to a friend.
Uriah Heep bandmate Ken Hensley made the announcement. “It’s with the heaviest of hearts that I share with you that Lee Kerslake, my friend of 55 years and the best drummer I ever played with, lost his battle with cancer at 03:30 this morning. He died peacefully, praise The Lord, but he will be terribly missed.”
Kerslake played with Osbourne in 1980 and ’81, appearing on his first two solo albums, Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman. He also appeared on the 1987 Tribute live album.
But his recognition for the two Osbourne albums came at a price. Kerslake’s contributions on Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman were later...

In the spring of 1982, Ozzy Osbourne’s life changed in an instant. In the years since Black Sabbath had fired him, in 1979, he’d picked himself up again, put out two successful albums that helped redefine heavy metal and garnered a following that rivaled that of his previous band. A big part of why things came together so easily for him was because he’d forged a creative partnership with a flashy young guitarist named Randy Rhoads who helped him work out his musical ideas in a way his previous bandmates hadn’t.
