Born and raised in Vancouver, Canada, and has been acting since age seven. She began her professional training with
Children's Theatre Arts from 1992-94.
Her father is Afro-Canadian and her mother is caucasian.
On April 27, 2017. announced engagement to chef Alex Jermasek.
