Roger Beck(I)
- Visual Effects
For more than 20 years Roger Beck is focused on high-performance media workflows in the M&E industry. Starting with his first "big assignment" 1995 be part of setting up a new and innovative studio workflow at Studio Babelsberg (Berlin-Potsdam), a rather large studio facility to which Disney/Buena Vista had outsourced parts of the pre- and post production of "The Lion King II", Roger quickly added numerous post production and 3D CGI studios to his list of clients. He was part of the production of the first fully computer generated TV show in Europe, Stevie Stardust, produced 1996 by Stardust Entertainment in Berlin-Potsdam, one of the first CGI companies in Germany. Being the inventor he always has been, Roger implemented the most innovative technologies known back then in order to setup an IT environment that would meet the high demands of a CG workflow - and even developed the first software that would take care of the render management, increasing the overall productivity significantly.
Over the years, Roger worked on bigger feature film projects, such as Peter Jackson's movie "Duell - Enemy at the Gates", "The Miracle of Bern" and "The Pianist".
Always challenging himself to expand his knowledge and gain more expertise, he switched to the manufacturer side of M&E specialized hardware and software solutions; first at Bright Technologies in Reno, NV as Director of Technology, and later as Senior Solutions Architect at the media and entertainment division of Rohde&Schwarz (formerly known as DVS).
As of May 2016, Roger is self-employed, offering pretty much the entire range of services around media file-based SAN/NAS environments. He resides in the greater LA area.
