With a passion for storytelling, Scott has always strived to be in the arts. He studied Theatre Production and Real Estate Finance at Arizona State University. While in school, Scott became involved in theatre and performance, developing his sense of storytelling and love for books, which would later propel him to success.

That said, Scott actually began his career as a competitive skier for the US freestyle ski team and then later became a real estate developer, with an interest in live entertainment. After building a family of his own, Scott moved forward in the business and became a self-made entrepreneur, building and developing shopping centers. Eventually, work brought him to Las Vegas where he became a business consultant for Caesars Palace and the Forum shops for Melvin Simon. Afterward, he wrote the stage play for EFX at the MGM Grand. Subsequently, in 1998 Scott established his own production company calling it Stone Village Pictures. Since then, he has moved to Malibu to write and produce.

Most recently, Steindorff made Station Eleven, a post-apocalyptic saga spanning multiple timelines, written by Patrick Somerville ("Maniac"), and directed by Hiro Murai ("Atlanta") & Jeremy Podeswa ("Game of Thrones"). It stars Mackenzie Davis ("Black Mirror" and "Terminator: Dark Fate"), Himesh Patel ("Yesterday"), & Gael Garcia Bernal ("Mozart in the Jungle" and "Coco"), telling the stories of survivors of a devastating flu as they attempt to rebuild and reimagine the world anew while holding on to the best of what's been lost. "Station Eleven" is based on the novel for which it's named, written by Emily St. John Mandel.

Scott is well-known in the industry for acquiring and adapting literary properties and delivering commercially successful and award-winning television series and films. Projects produced include the Netflix Docu-Series Firechasers (2017) with producing partners Appian Way, Leonardo DiCaprio's company, along with Original Productions. As well as the western Jane Got a Gun (2015), starring Natalie Portman, Joel Edgerton, and Ewan McGregor. He also executive produced John Favreau's Chef (2014), starring Jon Favreau, Scarlett Johansson, Sofia Vergara, Robert Downey Jr., and Dustin Hoffman.

Past projects include critical and commercial success, The Lincoln Lawyer (2011), with Tom Rosenberg, Gary Lucchesi, and Sidney Kimmel, based on the bestselling Michael Connelly novel starring Matthew McConaughey, Marisa Tomei, William H. Macy, and Ryan Phillippe which was released by Lionsgate. Steindorff was an executive producer of the hit NBC series Las Vegas (2003-2008), starring Josh Duhamel and James Caan.

Scott teamed with Paul Newman and producer Marc Platt in 2003, producing the critically acclaimed and award-winning miniseries for HBO, Empire Falls, winning a Golden Globe for Best Mini-series or Motion Picture Made for Television and receiving 10 Emmy nominations. Other feature films Steindorff has produced include Gimme Shelter (2014), Penelope, released by Summit in 2008; Love In The Time Of Cholera, released by New Line in 2007; Turistas, released by Twentieth Century Fox in 2006; and The Human Stain, released by Miramax in 2003.

Scott is a digital entrepreneur, creating immersive, digital art content for Higher Frequency, which he owns. Fueled by his fascination with neurosciences, the assembly of life, and the beginning of time, he's begun developing a live, technological, and immersive show in Las Vegas. He is a Neurodiversity Advocate and regularly speaks with high schools and colleges across the country on the importance of emotions and feelings. He also actively works with young people in schools, sharing his story and the importance of facing substance abuse.

Projects in development at Stone Village include Paul Theroux's Under "The Wave at Waimea," "Just Watch Me" by Jeff Lindsay, "The Maidens" by Alex Michaelides, "Unsettled" by Ryan Hampton, and Andrew Hunter Murray's bestselling novel "The Last Day" which is in development with Paramount. The company is also adapting Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein" for TV, "The Caretaker" based on Dave Zeltserman's novel, "The Psychology of Stupidity" by Jean Francois Marmion, which Scott is writer and creator of, "Psychedelic City" based on Peter Kiefer's Los Angeles Magazine article entitled, "'Shrooms! Shamans! Kosher LSD! Why Los Angeles Is Suddenly Tripping Out," and most notably "Butch Cassidy: The True Story of an American Outlaw" by Charles Leerhsen, which Scott will create and executive produce.

In spring 2020, Steindorff became a Professor of Practice in the School of Art and the School of Film, Dance, and Theatre at Arizona State University, teaching about emotions and how to utilize them to influence art. Though most recently at ASU, Steindorff will be partnering with the Counseling and Counseling Psychology program and the Counselor Training Center at Arizona State University's College of Integrative Sciences and Arts (CISA) to build capacity for licensed counselors and psychologists to support neurodiverse individuals and their families. Most recently, in 2022, Scott became a board member for the ARC Foundation which promotes accessibility for education, employment, and housing for the disabled community.
