The Star Citizen story somehow just got stranger thanks to a new report that reveals the insanity behind the game's development.
A new report by Forbes on the development of Star Citizen includes some quotes from people close to the game that shed a little more light on the extent of Cloud Imperium Games' money mismanagement and questionable design direction.
"As the money rolled in, what I consider to be some of [Roberts’] old bad habits popped up—not being super-focused,” said Mark Day, a former Wing Commander producer whose company was hired to work on Star Citizen back in 2013. "It had got out of hand, in my opinion. The promises being made—call it feature creep, call it whatever it is—now we can do this, now we can do that. I was shocked.”

Sir Paul McCartney and Simon Cowell will be smiling through the economic slump - they've made millions in the last 12 months as the U.K. music industry shows the green shoots of recovery. Last year, the global financial crisis hit record labels hard, with rockers including McCartney and Sir Elton John losing huge chunks of their fortune.
But the industry appears to be moving out of the slump - according to Britain's Sunday Times annual rich list, some top earners have seen their income soar in the last 12 months. The Beatles legend McCartney's wealth rose to $712 million from $660 million , while the "Rocket Man" 's fortune is at $277 million, an increase of $15 million. Music mogul Cowell is now worth $247 million compared to $180 million last year.
But it was a miserable 12 months for impresario Lord Andrew Lloyd-Webber - he lost $75 million from his $1.1 billion fortune. The list is topped by Warner...

COLOGNE, Germany -- Debts at Germany's largest media group, Bertelsmann AG, are too high, and further consolidation is needed to bring the company into line with its year-end targets, Bertelsmann chief executive Gunter Thielen told German journalists at a meeting in Frankfurt. "We are too much in debt", Thielen said late Thursday, noting that net debt at the German media giant will be €3.8 billion-€4 billion ($3.7 billion-$3.89 billion) by year's end, well above the company's own target of €2 billion-€2.5 billion ($1.95 billion-$2.43 billion). Bertelsmann's acquisition of Clive Calder's Zomba Music Group is the main reason for the overshoot. Calder forced Bertelsmann to buy Zomba when he exercised a "put" option in June that required the German group to pay a premium of at least eight times Zomba's average pretax profit from 1999-2001. Bertelsmann and Calder are arguing about those figures, with the Zomba chief executive valuing his company at $3 billion and Bertelsmann putting the price tag closer to $2.4 billion.
