The Beverly Hillbillies aired on CBS from 1962 to 1971. The TV series centered on Jed Clampett, a poor widow living with his daughter and mother-in-law in the Ozarks. When he strikes it rich after finding oil on his property, Jed moves his family, including cousin Jethro Bodine, to Beverly Hills. The seven-time Emmy-nominated series was a huge hit and made stars of Buddy Ebsen (who played Jed Clampett), Donna Douglas (Elly May Clampett), Irene Ryan (Granny), and Max Baer Jr. (Jethro). Today, Baer is the only cast member still alive. Learn more about what he’s done since The Beverly Hillbillies, and find out Max Baer Jr.’s net worth.

I can think of a few living filmmakers better suited to making an "Exorcist" movie than Paul Schrader. From the existential rage and self-loathing of Travis Bickle in "Taxi Driver," through the spiritual torment of Jesus in "The Last Temptation of Christ," to the doubting pastors of "Affliction" and "First Reformed," Schrader has spent much of his career exploring matters of the soul. As Roger Ebert once noted, "One thing [Schrader's] movies have in common is a very strong, visible sense of sin."
So who better to direct an "Exorcist" prequel after William Peter Blatty's flawed "The Exorcist III" marked a return to form for the series after the loopy metaphysics of John Boorman's "Exorcist II: The Heretic?" Surely if anyone could get to the bottom of Father Merrin's past exploits, it would be Schrader, right?
Problems arose because Schrader was only Morgan Creek's third pick to direct the movie.

Back when TV viewers were limited to three channel options, a silly show called The Beverly Hillbillies started at the top of the Nielsen ratings and stayed there for nine years. Panned by critics, the quirky comedy entertained audiences and made several actors famous. So, are any Beverly Hillbillies cast members still alive?

Country star Tanya Tucker and her friend and producer Brandi Carlile are as ready as they’ll ever be to be considered for film awards, as a song they co-wrote for a documentary they both starred in this year is in the mix of current contenders. That song, “Ready as I’ll Never Be,” a very personalized ballad about watching the next generation up pass on, is a heart-tugger, and should be under consideration if voters get a chance to hear it — which Tucker admits she very much hopes they will.
“I’d love for the world to hear it,” Tucker tells Variety. “I just want the opportunity to be heard. And then if they don’t like me, that’s fine, but just listen to me, just for three minutes.” And, she adds in characteristic fashion, “If the Oscars are gonna give me a nod or a kick in the ass — either one,...

This story about Brandi Carlile and Tanya Tucker first appeared in the Race Begins issue of TheWrap’s awards magazine.
It began with a conversation about death. After the making of “The Return of Tanya Tucker—Featuring Brandi Carlile,” the Oscar-eligible documentary that chronicles the comeback of country firebrand Tucker with an album co-produced and largely written by Carlile, the two women were having a quiet dinner in Nashville when the conversation turned to the people they’d lost during Covid.
“We’d lost John Prine, and she lost Billy Joe Shaver, who was a real friend of hers,” Carlile said to TheWrap. “I said to her, ‘Tanya, I’m really sorry about Billy Joe passing away,’ and she said, ‘Oh, I’m the youngest of all those guys. I’m gonna have to watch them all get their wings before me. I guess I’m ready.’ And then she looked at me and said,...

Miranda Lambert interprets Billy Joe Shaver’s “I’m Just an Old Chunk of Coal (But I’m Gonna Be a Diamond Someday)” as a barroom jam with tinkling piano, a swinging rhythm, and drawling vocals. When the news dropped about Warner Bros. deciding to shelve "Batgirl," "Scoob!: Holiday Haunt," and potentially other projects being produced for HBO Max, it struck a lot of us as a fairly unprecedented move. For "Batgirl" in particular, the size of the budget (a reported 90 million) and its connection to a popular franchise make it an even more startling that this decision has happened. The implications of using productions that artists spend years working on as mere tax loophole fodder sets a fairly depressing precedent for how studios can operate in the future.
However, this is not the first time a nearly completed film has been shelved by a studio. It's not even the first one shelved by Warner Bros. since the turn of the 21st Century. In fact, one shelved production also happened to connect to a very well-known franchise, and next year, we will see a new entry...

Originating on CBC in Canada, Burden of Truth has become a staple of The CW's summer schedule in the United States. The series draws pretty low ratings but, because the network only licenses the series, it likely doesn't cost them as much to air. Will Burden of Truth be cancelled or renewed for season four? Stay tuned. *Status update below.

On Burden of Truth Season 3 Episode 2, Joanna's attempt to get Kodie's kids back does not go well. Joanna is wracking up failures, and she is not happy about it. Plus, this one is personal (though we still don't know why).
The writers are not giving us much to go on for the history between Joanna and Kodie. There is a story there.
We get tiny flashbacks that are hints of more, but it seems like they want to drag this out and keep us guessing. While frustrating, it is good writing. It will keep us coming back until the truth is revealed.
It seems like Burden of Truth knows how to give just enough to keep us wanting more.
That is also true with romantic relationships on the show. Others would highlight their main 'ship and show a bunch of scenes for the other 'ships as well. Shipping is one...

Last year CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) premiered Burden of Truth, a new legal drama.
Those of us in the U.S. who were drawn in by the trailer got super bummed that this exciting new show would only be available to our friends north of the border. Then the CW picked it up for their summer lineup and it exceded expectations.
The CW Fall 2019 Schedule: Batwoman Teams with Supergirl, Charmed Banished to Fridays
Still, Burden of Truth got very little coverage here in the good old U.S. For whatever reason, nobody was talking about it, let alone watching. And some people couldn't even remember what it was called, mistakenly calling it Burden of Proof.
Now season two is about to air in the U.S., and we're hoping for some more viewers and some more discussion. Burden of Truth is an entertaining and original show that you should be watching.

There's more truth to come. The CW has announced that they've picked up a second season of the Burden of Truth TV show. Season two of the legal drama is expected to air Summer 2019.
From creator Brad Simpson, Burden of Truth stars Kristin Kreuk, Peter Mooney, Alex Carter, Star Slade, Benjamin Ayres, Nicola Correia-Damude, Meegwun Fairbrother, and Sara Thompson. The serial centers on attorney Joanna Hanley (Kreuk), who walked away from her partnership at a corporate law firm in order to figure out why a mysterious illness is afflicting high school girls from her hometown. Back in Millwood, Manitoba, on the Canadian prairie, Joanna joins forces with her old high school foe, Billy Crawford (Mooney), who is now a local attorney. While she’s trying to get to the truth of what’s happening to these girls, she must also face why her family fled the town, years ago.

Who would follow up a tense, real-life political drama with a relaxed Western set in the 1940s? Alan J. Pakula, that's who. Pakula directed All the President's Men, which was released in April 1976, in the thick of the Watergate scandal. The movie received eight Academy Award nominations and won four, including Jason Robards for best supporting actor and William Goldman for best adapted screenplay. Circa 1945, Frank 'Butch' Athearn (Caan) and Billy Joe Meynert (Mark Harmon, in the first film role for the former U.S. football player), are military veterans who have bought a small...

The actor/writer/comedian/rapper/not-Spider-Man Donald Glover, a.k.a. Childish Gambino, recently released his new album ‘Because the Internet.” On said album, Glover, amongst other tirades about money and how he has it, exclaims in a solemn tone… “I don’t know who I am anymore”. This is precluded by lyrics revolving around what one might assume his life is like these days – facing criticism from random strangers, texts from other strangers, and general haters being hateful– and as such, the line hits home pretty harshly. We’ve all been there, right?
Shortly after hearing that line though, adjoined to others like “No one’s ever been this lost”, “Funny the day you born that’s really your death sentence”, and the gem “Eventually all my followers realize they don’t need a leader” I was left with a bitter taste in my mouth. Glover’s alter ego...

An intriguing teenage riff on Texas pulp noir that doesn’t quite reach the heights to which it aspires, We Gotta Get Out Of This Place is nevertheless a hardnosed, well-acted crime drama that effectively evokes locale and mood.
The film opens on Billy Joe (Logan Huffman) engineering a rip-off at his place of employment under cover of darkness. He uses the money to finance a big send-off in nearby Corpus Christi for his girlfriend Sue (Mackenzie Davis) and best friend Bobby (Jeremy Allen White), who are both off to college in a couple of weeks; in the grand tradition of noir, this is a very bad idea indeed. When they return to work at the cotton mill hung-over and broke, they are confronted by the sight of their furious boss Giff (Mark Pellegrino) beating the night watchman to within an inch of his life, convinced that the Mexican stole his money.

As a half-Mexican person, I can relate directly to a new Nsfw clip from Tiff 2013 selection We Gotta Get Out of This Place, in which a nasty Caucasian swine kicks a Mexican man when he's down -- over and over and over again. With only a few weeks left until his two best friends leave for college, Billy Joe (Logan Huffman) robs his cotton farmer boss, Giff (Mark Pellegrino), in order to pay for one last blow out weekend in Corpus Christi, Texas. Upon returning, the teens are confronted by the unfortunate and brutal consequences of stealing from his boss. Now Billy Joe, Sue (Mackenzie Davis) and Bobby (Jeremy Allen White) must embark on a dangerous journey that will test their trust and friendship...

Tiff’s Midnight Madness selection is usually where we find all of the horror films, but the Vanguard selection features Ti West’s latest film, The Sacrament, and Alexandre Aja’s Horns, starring Daniel Radcliffe:
“Toronto — The Toronto International Film Festival® Vanguard programme takes audiences on a sensory rollercoaster ride with boundary-pushing international works that are bold and bodacious. Curated by international programmer Colin Geddes, this lineup brings the best in genre and arthouse together for a cinematic odyssey that eludes conventional definition.
“From revenge and ruin to sex, drugs and taxation, this programme challenges audiences to go places that noaudience has gone before,” said Geddes. “Where Midnight Madness opens up audiences to a world of fear and fantasy, Vanguard plunges them into a confrontational and unnerving one that sometimes comes a bit too close to reality for comfort.”

File this story under things that make me feel sad and old.
I suppose it was only a matter of time after their song was used for the Seinfeld finale and their album adapted into a musical, that Green Day would show up in the Twilight saga.
I am embarrassed to watch these images of the forty-something Green Day members overlapped with images of a youthful vampire Bella and her sparkling Edward jumping and flitting through the forest. Honestly, this video is the modern-day equivalent of the video for Poison’s Every Rose Has Its Thorn. At some point I expect Bella to come out and carry and exhausted Billy Joe offstage.
But don’t take this bitter and elderly former fan’s word for it, watch The Forgotten below.

The last time we talked about the film version [1] of Green Day's album-turned-Broadway show American Idiot, it looked like Green Day bandleader Billie Joe Armstrong might be playing one of the lead roles on screen. That casting is confirmed now, as THR [2] says that Billy Joe will indeed reprised the role of St. Jimmy, which he played in some sold-out Broadway shows, under the direction of Michael Mayer. Dustin Lance Black is scripting the film version of American Idiot, a tale of love and anger acted out through the characters Jesus of Suburbia and St. Jimmy. We've heard about the potential for a movie version for several years, but fans can possibly take heart now that there is real forward movement. After the break, The Great Gatsby casts its last major role, and T.J. Miller gets his first starring gig, in a comedy. Baz Luhrmann's upcoming 3D, shot-in-Australia...

Billy Joe Amstrong is returning to the Broadway stage for one final stint in "American Idiot" after box office sales plummeted following his exit in February. The rocker helped to compose and write the hit musical, which is based on songs by his band Green Day, and he made his Broadway debut when he joined the cast for a short run of dates last September.
He reprised the role of drug dealer St. Jimmy in the New Year and bowed out of the production on February 27. His critically-acclaimed addition to the line-up sent box office sales soaring, but weekly profits suffered a sharp drop and fell from $1.3 million to $395,275 last week.
Armstrong has now agreed to come to the rescue of musical producers and will hit the stage again from April 5 for the Tony Award-winning show's final three weeks in the Big Apple. "American Idiot" debuted on Broadway in April...

In wrestling terms, a "cheap pop" happens when a grappler says something deliberately to the crowd that they know will get a rise out of them. In the world of pop/rock music, there's no band more guilty of doing this than Green Day. They did it when I saw them in their "Dookie" days. They did it during their "American Idiot" tour for sure. Last night, at their first night at Madison Square Garden, it happened again...to the max. The show started with a man in a bunny suit downing bottles of beer. Cheap pop. From there, frontman Billy Joe Armstrong and the boys laced their furious punk pop rock with subtle as a heart attack New York references -- even replacing some song verses with NYC in its place. It didn't stop there. Billy Joe mooned the crowd...

Reader Christopher D. sent us a bunch of cool fan made posters that he either made/edited or just plain found on the internet without adding any of his own touches. So don't yell at me if he fucked with your artwork. Yell at him.We have no legal copyright holding over these images. So if you want us to remove them, you'll have to contact the legal copyright images office located in Worcestershire, Alabama, right next to the post office located on Main St. You know that office, it's the one Billy Joe was arrested in front of for masturbating in public when he learned that the love of his life, Sue Anne, was dating the high school quarterback. I can understand why Billy was upset, after all, he and Sue Anne had been married for twenty years.Oh, I'm so goofy. Seriously, if you made one or some of these posters,...
