The Fantastic Pavilion returns to Cannes for its second edition, revealing seven Gala Screenings.
This year’s selection features “Do Not Enter” by Hugo Cardozo, “Aire, Just Breathe” directed by Leticia Tonos, Doug Rao’s “Dirty Boy,” Can Evrenol’s “Sayara,” “Mourir or Not Mourir” by Thomas Combret, Andreas Marschall’s “Black.White.Red.” and “Vadakkan” by Sajeed A.
“The Galas proved to be one of our most appealing assets and a massive draw. This year, we are repeating this format in the exact same way: seven screenings, with cast and crew in attendance, at 8pm [Cet] at the Olympia Cinema,” said Pablo Guisa Koestinger, Fantastic Pavilion executive director and CEO at Morbido Group.
Thanks to the Pavilion, the genre community in Cannes “came together, embraced it as its own and found a place they can call home,” he noted.

The latest from “The Platform” co-producers Mr Miyagi and rising shock meister Hugo Cardozo will be sneak peeked as pix-in-post at this year’s Ventana Sur Blood Window Screenings.
Both are sold, and Cardozo’s “Do Not Enter” produced by Guido Rud’s FilmSharks as sales agents, as this week’s American Film Market attests, are driving ever more into horror genre.
Unlike action thrillers and romantic comedies, the other go-to movie types in a market ever more attuned to streamer tastes, that could be that horror doesn’t need name actors. Mister Smith Ent.’s David Garrett said before the AFM.
Latin American genre is not so much as fitting into market trends as a push-phenomenon driven by genre fanboys and girls. Two at least make the cut, with Argentina’s Jose María Cicala, who will introduce his “Charming,” and Peru’s young Farid Rodríguez, who multi-tasks as a film and fest director,...

We have a trio of news items today, recapping all the hard work our friends at FilmSharks are doing to get LatAm genre cinema out into the world. The three projects we're highlighting today are an Argentine true-crime thriller A Singuler Crime, a found footage horror flick called Do Not Enter (we presume from Paraguay for reasons you find out soon enough) and Argentine mystical horror flick Legions. The first two titles, A Singular Crime and Do Not Enter, are new to us though one of the producers of horror flick Do Not Enter, Hugo Cardozo from Paraguay, has been featured on our site before for his breakout hit Morgue. We have written about Legions a few times already. Trailers for all three projects are...

"Sir. Get the hell out of here." Well Go USA has released a new trailer for Morgue, an indie supernatural horror-thriller from Paraguayan director Hugo Cardozo. This already opened in Paraguay and stopped by the Sitges Film Festival last year, and is opening on VOD in the US this April. The story is about a night that Diego Martínez is locked inside the morgue of the Regional Hospital of Encarnación and recounts the odd paranormal events that the security guard spent. Starring Pablo Martínez, María del Mar Fernández, Willi Villalba, Abel Martínez, Dr. Aldo Von Knobloch, Raúl Rotela, and Francisco Ayala. It looks creepy, and it reminds me a lot of The Autopsy of Jane Doe at first glance. Horror fans shouldn't miss this. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Hugo Cardozo's Morgue, direct from Well Go USA's YouTube: After a harrowing accident, the perpetually down-on-his-luck Diego Martinez...

Horror can be found in every country around the world, and the new teaser for Morgue proves that Paraguay is no exception. Directed by Hugo Cardozo, Morgue has already sold distribution rights in a number of worldwide territories, as reported on by our own Andrew Mack, and "Bird Box writer Eric Heisserer will produce an English-language re-imagining," per ScreenDaily. Mr. Mack also covered the film's first trailer, which you can watch below. Now Andes Films Peru has released a new official trailer, which I found to be quite unsettling when I watched it in the dark earlier this morning. As I gather from the Spanish-language official description, Morgue follows Diego Martinez, who, on his first day as a security guard, discovers that the night will...
