Prime Video’s Fallout has been receiving largely positive reviews, along with critical praise for the performances in the series. Aaron Morten is one such face that the audience familiarized through the series. The actor plays the role of Maximus, an ally to Ella Purnell’s Lucy, in the series. Fans believe that Aaron Morten closely resembles disgraced actor Jonathan Majors and that he could replace Majors as the MCU’s Kang.

Disney fired Kang actor Majors following his guilty conviction on misdemeanor assault and harassment charges filed by his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. Marvel is looking to recast the role, with Colman Domingo and Jon Boyega being some of the names thrown around for the role.

Remembering Denzel Washington’s Cool Factor in Glory Let’s kick this off with a throwback to 1989. You know, back when shoulder pads were a thing and Denzel Washington wasn’t just an actor, but the actor who took home an Oscar for his role in Glory. Playing Trip, a former slave turned Union soldier, Denzel was the epitome of cool confidence. This wasn’t just your average ‘look at me I’m so tough’ performance. It was layered, complex, and yeah, cool as hell amidst some serious adversity. Glory, you did good by casting this man. Denzel’s Malcolm X The Epitome of Charisma...

Filmmaker Edward Zwick, whose credits include About Last Night, Glory, Legends of the Fall, The Siege, The Last Samurai, Blood Diamond, Defiance, Love & Other Drugs, Pawn Sacrifice, and Jack Reacher: Never Go Back (not to mention co-creating Thirtysomething), recently published a memoir called Hits, Flops, and Other Illusions: My Fortysomething Years in Hollywood (pick up a copy Here). This book contains some very interesting passages – like the one on Zwick’s Jack Reacher regrets, and another where he reveals how impressed Denzel Washington was by Matt Damon’s performance when they were on the set of Zwick’s 1996 film Courage Under Fire.
Zwick wrote, “As we finished Matt’s coverage, Denzel caught my eye and nodded approvingly. Later, he took me aside. ‘Who is that kid?’ he asked. I told him it was Matt’s first big role. ‘Damn,’ he said. ‘Better get my game on. He almost blew me off the screen.

Denzel Washington is one of the most prolific actors who changed the way African American characters were portrayed in mainstream cinema. The actor has starred in landmark films such as Training Day, Glory, Philadelphia, Malcolm X, and Cry Freedom. He has also been nominated for the Oscars multiple times and has won the award twice.
Washington was reportedly always interested in playing Black Panther in a film adaptation. While the actor became too old to play the iconic superhero by the time the character made his cinematic debut with Chadwick Boseman’s portrayal, Washington reportedly had his eyes on another superhero. Denzel Washington once mentioned how he wanted to play Green Lantern.

The Marvel film Black Panther was a film that meant a lot to many, including Oscar-winner Denzel Washington. But Washington wasn’t just a fan of the movie, he helped inspire one of the film’s major characters.

Lenny Kravitz usually waits for music to come to him, like the way he wrote his iconic 1991 song, “It Ain’t Over ‘til It’s Over”.
“[I was] in the hotel room after my breakup with Zoe’s mom, which was extremely emotional and painful, and I was just staying at this hotel in LA with the curtains drawn, very sad, depressed,” he says. “All I had was a Fender Rhodes, which is an electric piano. And just sat down one day and just started playing these chords.”
Kravitz’s creativity functions “like an antenna” he explains. He had a similar process writing “Let Love Rule”: “I’d written [the words] ‘let love rule’ on the wall outside of my apartment, next to the elevator. And I kept passing this thing for months, in and out of the apartment, in the elevator, in New York. And then, one day, I walked in the...

After multiple Oscars, Silver Bears, Golden Globes, Grammys and a Tony, Denzel Washington has earned the right to be called one of the greatest actors of our time. He could drop the surname and still be instantly recognisable – two syllables that guarantee acting excellence.
Key to his success is his ability to mesmerise an audience into seeing past his instantly recognisable face and observing only the character. It’s arguably the central tenet to any actor’s success, yet it is with unusual success and consistency that Denzel Washington has been able to shift from character to character seemingly with ease. This is an actor who rarely repeats himself.
The need for variety and the consistency of execution makes his sole franchise role all the more intriguing. Today sees the digital premiere for the third entry in The Equalizer series, with his Training Day director Antoine Fuqua ending the trilogy...

Hollywood star Denzel Washington almost rejected action film ‘The Magnificent Seven’. Director Antoine Fuqua, who has teamed up with the 68-year-old actor on ‘The Equalizer’ trilogy after first teaming up on 2001’s ‘Training Day’, said selling his collaborator on the 2016 reboot wasn’t an easy task, reports aceshowbiz.com.
He remembered opening his pitch with: “So, the sun is coming up. This man on this black horse comes…,” when speaking at Collider’s IMAX screening event for ‘The Equalizer 3’.
Fuqua recalled: “(Washington) goes, ‘Wait, what?’ I said, ‘A man on his horse’, and Denzel’s like, ‘I’m not gonna get on a horse.’ [Laughs] I said, ‘No, no, let me finish! Magnificent Seven…’ And he just sat back and listened to me, let me get out my pitch.”
The filmmaker was convinced Washington would “walk away at any moment,” but thankfully he was willing to hear what Fuqua was planning.

Monday Update: It looks like Denzel Washington can now lay claim to having the 2nd biggest Labor Day box office debut, with The Equalizer 3 shooting up an estimated $42 million over the long weekend. Not bad at all if you consider that Denzel hasn’t been able to market the film due to the strike. It’s the best opening a movie’s posted since Barbenheimer, and seems likely to be the biggest until, coincidently, Denzel’s son John David Washington, opens his own potential blockbuster, The Creator, later this month.

In recent years, Denzel Washington has devoted the bulk of his attention to performing the works of great playwrights like Shakespeare and August Wilson. But his latest turn in “The Equalizer 3” proves that he hasn’t lost his knack for action filmmaking. If anything, he was a little too eager to get back in the saddle as the revenge-seeking vigilante Robert McCall.
In a new interview with Yahoo! Entertainment, “The Equalizer 3” director Antoine Fuqua recalled working with Washington on the Italy-set sequel. The filmmaker said that Washington was not only willing to get dirty and perform his own stunts, but he often had to be stopped for his own safety.
“He’s still got it,” Fuqua said. “He trains every day. I’d have to tell Denzel, ‘Let me get the stunt guy to do this one,’ He’s like ‘I got it!’ You have to protect him from himself!

Antoine Fuqua struggled with shooting scenes for 'The Equalizer 3' on the streets of Naples, Italy. The director reunited with regular collaborator Denzel Washington to make the third film in the action series and they shot much of it on location in the Italian city - but Fuqua has admitted the shoot was hampered by bad weather which added to the problems of filming on real city streets. He told The Hollywood Reporter: "Shooting on the streets of Naples in that weather — that was challenging. It’s hard to shoot there ... This last one [movie] was the most difficult one. The streets of Naples are tough, and you’ve got a guy who’s really crawling barefoot in a real city with cold weather. Denzel Washington once again proves his movie star status as his Equalizer 3 is currently looking at a solid $35-$37 million weekend, with around $43 million 4-day take, which falls perfectly in line with our predictions from Thursday. That number will put it squarely in the number two spot for the Labor Day holiday, pulling ahead of Rob Zombie’s 2007 remake of Halloween which opened with $30.5 million and behind Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ $94.6 million in 2021.

Fuqua explained to Collider, when asked about his ambitions for the biopic, that he hopes to provide “a better insight on Michael as an artist, as a human being – the good, bad, and the ugly – and let people decide for themselves on what they feel about Michael Jackson.”
Despite this, the project is currently on hold due to the ongoing writers’ strike and Antoine doesn’t know when things will move forwards.
He shared: “I’m just kind of waiting to see where it all falls out.”

“The Equalizer 3” is here, once again directed by Antoine Fuqua and starring Denzel Washington. This time around Washington’s Robert McCall finds himself in beautiful Italy, where he runs afoul of the local mafia and has to kill them all in increasingly creative ways. It’s supposed to be the last in the franchise that was based off of the 1980s TV series, but this could be the best of the bunch, with Washington in top form.
TheWrap spoke to director Fuqua about his fifth (!) collaboration with Washington, bringing things home with “Equalizer 3,” his experience working on Disney’s “King Arthur” and the version of the “Miami Vice” he briefly developed with Michael Mann.
Action franchises are built in different ways — sometimes the stunts come first and the story is modeled around that, sometimes locations inform story. How do you build “Equalizer” movies?
It starts with: What is the movie about?...

Wherever The Equalizer franchise goes, an audience has followed.
That was true for the original 1985-89 CBS TV series, and it’s especially true for Antoine Fuqua and Denzel Washington’s newly minted Equalizer trilogy. However, in the five years between The Equalizer 2 and today’s release of The Equalizer 3, a Queen Latifah-led Equalizer series has also come into its own on CBS, becoming one of the most-watched shows on television.
Now, one might assume that the success of the new show provided added reason for the brain trust behind the film series to pursue a proper end to their trilogy, but the reimagined show actually had no bearing on whether Fuqua and Washington finished the story of Robert McCall.
“We absolutely have no connection to that; it wasn’t even in [our] thinking, really,” Fuqua tells The Hollywood Reporter. “We just did one movie at a time,...

Review: I absolutely love the Equalizer movies. It seems no one is making straight-forward action thrillers nowadays other than Antoine Fuqua, who’s become the greatest master of the genre since the late Tony Scott. His movies are taut, efficient and packed with gruesome, R-rated action. They know precisely what they are, and if this is the final Equalizer film, it perfectly closes out the only big-screen trilogy of Denzel Washington’s career.
Robert McCall is a perfect character for Denzel. At seventy years old, Washington has the right mix of righteous anger, world-weariness and kindness to do the character justice. One thing I always loved about the franchise was how...

In the opening scene of Antoine Fuqua’s The Equalizer 3, Denzel Washington shoots a bad guy in the ass. This is not a metaphor. Two-time Oscar-winner, and nine-time-nominated, Denzel Washington picks up a shotgun and blows a second hole into the il culo of a Sicilian gangster; which gives new meaning to making someone’s ass grass.
It is also entirely on this wavelength that The Equalizer 3 coasts, flatly, gorily, but not altogether unpleasantly. For an actor of Washington’s caliber, it’s slumming, but his charm suggests he doesn’t much mind. Like his character, the performer seems to be on a working vacation where the midday cappuccinos and late night glasses of vino at a picturesque Italian cafe (at which Washington always has the best and same exact seat) make up for all the drudgery he must trudge through.

Denzel Washington and Antoine Fuqua make a dynamite duo. Their first collaboration gave audiences arguably Denzel’s most popular character in Training Day. The director/actor combo also reunited to remake one of the most coveted westerns, The Magnificent Seven, and saw a nice, humble success. Now, they close out their trilogy on the big screen adaptation of The Equalizer.
Deadline reports that The Equalizer 3 begins the fall movie season with Thursday preview advanced screenings grossing $3.8 million. It topped the previous entry’s preview total, which came out to $3.1 million at 2,934 theaters from Thursday showtimes that began at 4 Pm back in 2018. Equalizer 3 would begin its screening at 3,241 locations at 3 Pm. The series has been a crowd-pleaser. This one looks to be following suit as it reached a Rotten Tomatoes aggregate rating of 76%, and the audience rating climbed much higher to 92%.

"The Equalizer" has been a sturdy franchise for Sony over the last decade. Based on the 1980s CBS series starring Edward Woodward, the films are a model of narrative simplicity: Denzel Washington plays Robert McCall, a world-weary yet principled ex-CIA operative who bounces around the globe to help powerless people overcome viciously corrupt criminals. They're self-contained vigilante yarns powered exclusively by one of Hollywood's most magnetic stars in full-on badass mode. Aside from their extrajudicial nature, they're basically Charles Bronson's "Death Wish" movies absent the racism and wretched treatment of women.
As such, they're utterly critic-proof, and Washington, a two-time Oscar winner who's widely considered to be one of our finest actors, shows no compunction about playing to the cheap seats. He knows audiences dig him in this kind of badass role, and, thus far, he's been proven right at the box office. The first two films (barely...

Los Angeles, Aug 31 (Ians) Hollywood star Denzel Washington has developed a “fatherly” relationship with actress Dakota Fanning, with whom he is starring in ‘The Equalizer 3’, according to director Antoine Fuqua.
The 57-year-old filmmaker, who helmed the new ‘Equalizer’ movie, told People that the 68-year-old actor has a “little bit of a fatherly, mentor relationship” with the actress, reports aceshowbiz.com.
The Hollywood veteran and Dakota first worked together on the 2004 action movie ‘Man on Fire’ and their relationship has evolved over time.
Antoine added: “As a child her first experience with Denzel Washington is very powerful, emotional. But you can see how she has grown quite a bit. I think it was more fascinating for Denzel than anyone else. Every once in a while when I would yell cut he would just look over and be like, ‘I can’t believe she’s like a grown woman now.’ I...

Nobody can threaten someone quietly better than Denzel Washington.
Oh, our man can pump up the volume when he needs to, in terms of letting people know he’s bringing the pain — our ears are still ringing from his “King Kong ain’t got shit on me!” taunt from Training Day. But when he lowers his voice to a basso profundo rumble and he fixes that dead-eyed stare on someone, the one that suggests the unflappable, untouchable Teflon Denzel has officially entered the building, and issues some sort of oh-you’ve-stepped-in-it-now promise of bodily harm?...

Labor Day weekend marks the end of the summer, but it’s also a holiday weekend where many moviegoers try to catch up on what they missed. Read on for Gold Derby’s box office preview.
This would be a good catch-up weekend if not for the fact that last weekend was National Cinema Day with $4 movie tickets on Sunday, and presumably, many moviegoers used that fact to catch up on summer movies. This weekend is generally counted as four days since Monday is a national holiday, and any schools that have already reopened will be closed again.
With that in mind, this Labor Day sees the first nationwide theatrical release for a Denzel Washington movie since “The Equalizer 2” in the summer of 2018. Although he did star in the serial killer thriller “The Little Things” opposite fellow Oscar winner Jared Leto in 2021, it got a nominal theatrical release in the height of the pandemic,...

Director Antoine Fuqua still remembers his first day on set with his now-five-time star Denzel Washington. It was early 2001, one of the first days of production on “Training Day,” which would eventually garner Washington his second Oscar (and co-star Ethan Hawke his first Oscar nomination). Fuqua was eager to show Washington and Hawke some of the day’s footage, but Washington demurred. As Fuqua recalls, Washington assured the director, making only his third film, that he was the one “flying this plane.”
It’s an experience Fuqua hasn’t forgotten — that moment of a master like Washington assuring the filmmaker that he trusted him and was down to honor his vision — and one that has guided the pair through five films, including the three-film franchise “The Equalizer.” The duo wrap the series with this week’s “The Equalizer 3,” which sees Washington’s vigilante Robert McCall taking his particular set...

Denzel Washington and his wife, Pauletta Washington, have built a beautiful family together over the years. The couple first met on the set of 1977's "Wilma," but it wasn't until a few months later that sparks flew at a mutual friend's party, per People. The stars officially tied the knot in 1983, then welcomed their first child - son John David Washington - in 1984. Two years later, their daughter Katia Washington was born, and in 1991, Denzel and Pauletta became parents of four with the arrival of their twins Malcolm and Olivia Washington.
Once the couple began expanding their family, Pauletta stepped back from acting in order to raise their four children, and the "Malcolm X" star is grateful for everything his wife has done for their family. While accepting the American Film Institute's lifetime achievement award in 2019, Denzel used his speech to thank Pauletta for being their children's primary caretaker. "My...

Quentin Tarantino once ranked actor Chris Pine as one of his favorite modern actors in the film industry. And although Pine achieved superstardom thanks to Star Trek, Star Trek wasn’t the movie that made him who he was.

Star Trek did a lot to boost Pine’s celebrity status in the film industry. Since doing the JJ Abrams series, he’s starred in several hit projects and solidified himself as an A-lister. Pine also caught the eye of Tarantino, who was more than impressed by his performances and presence.
“Now, to me, of the actors of his age, he’s hands down my favorite — of that group, of that era, of those guys. Hands down, my favorite. When I saw him in the Star Trek movie as Captain Kirk I thought he was making this movie.

Actor Denzel Washington once teamed up with Twilight star Dakota Fanning for the 2004 feature Man on Fire. In the feature, Washington confided that he mostly stayed away from Fanning for the sake of getting into character. Which Fanning would later tell her director about.

In “A Soldier’s Play,” Captain Richard Davenport isn’t meant to sing. But when you cast legendary baritone Norm Lewis in the role, you take advantage of his talents. Lewis can be seen in the national touring production, currently playing at L.A.’s Ahmanson Theatre — and it’s thanks to director Kenny Leon that audiences get to hear Davenport sing at certain points it the show.
Written by Charles Fuller, “A Soldier’s Play” is set on an Army base in 1944, when the military is still segregated. Captain Davenport, a rare Black officer, is sent to investigate the shooting of Sergeant Vernon Waters. Though Black himself, Waters despises and persecutes Black men who he feels perpetuate old-fashioned stereotypes.
