So, this Friday is the beginning of the three day weekend that usually kicks off Summer vacation time. But with the lockdown somewhat still in effect (parts of the country are testing the “re-opening waters”), every day feels part of a “stay-cation” holiday as the luggage continues to gather new layers of dust in the back of the closet. Well, there’s always a virtual “vacay” via streaming services. Now, we’re not talking about a collection of the old travelogue film shorts we sometimes see between the features on the TCM cable channel. Nope, this is a brand-spanking’ new flick shot before the world changed (nearly to a standstill), but with a couple of most familiar and entertaining guides. We know that because over the last decade we’ve joined them (as a “fly on the wall”), first through the British Isles, then to Italy, again in Spain. Time...

Toward the end of “The Trip to Greece,” British comic Rob Brydon (playing a version of himself) is talking to his wife (played by an actress who is not his wife) about the trip he’s just taken with his old pal and sparring partner Steve Coogan.
“Is it all fun and games?” she asks.
“No,” he says. “It’s mostly fun and games.”
And that’s a good way to describe “The Trip to Greece,” as well as the three other movies that Brydon and Coogan have made with director Michael Winterbottom. In 2011’s “The Trip,” 2014’s “The Trip to Italy,” 2017’s “The Trip to Spain” and now “The Trip to Greece,” the two men drive around a beautiful location, eat fabulous meals, talk about stuff and try to make each other laugh, often with dueling impersonations. And yes, it’s mostly fun and games.

"Let me swim to the sirens!" They're back!! For one last travel adventure. IFC Films has unveiled an official trailer for The Trip to Greece, the fourth film in Michael Winterbottom's comedic The Trip series, which launched in 2010 with just The Trip (around the UK). Then followed up with The Trip to Italy in 2014, The Trip to Spain in 2017, and now The Trip to Greece in 2020. Rob Brydon and Steve Coogan return as old friends traveling together, in what is being marketed as their final journey. Though who knows, maybe we'll see another one a few years down the road? There's many more places to go... The Trip to Greece also stars Kareem Alkabbani, Marta Barrio, Rebecca Johnson, and Claire Keelan. These seem to be getting better and better, and they look like so much fun. Plus all the food! And the sights! To die for, right? A much...
