Eddie Redmayne To Be Honored With Zurich’s Golden Eye
British actor Eddie Redmayne will be feted with the Zurich Film Festival’s Golden Eye Award for his career achievements at its upcoming edition running from September 22 to October 2. The actor will receive the honor ahead of the European premiere of Tobias Lindholm’s serial killer thriller The Good Nurse on September 25.
Citing Oscar-winning Redmayne’s diverse credits including Fantastic Beasts, Trial Of The Chicago 7 and Theory Of Everything, Zff artistic director Christian Jungen described the actor as one of “contemporary cinema’s most versatile actors” adding, “he furnishes his characters with a rare human depth and captivates us with his extraordinary powers of expression.”
Redmayne was previously at Zurich in 2007 in the that’s opening film Savage Grace, in which he co-starred opposite Julianne Moore. He will also participate in a Zurich Masters session during this trip to the Swiss festival.

BAFTA has announced the winners of this year’s British Academy Children’s Awards. There were three first-time winners at the ceremony in London, including Emily Burnett who won the BAFTA for Performer for her role in The Dumping Ground; Lindsey Russell for Presenter for Blue Peter; and Bella Ramsay for her performance in The Worst Witch in the Young Performer category.

Rebecca O’Brien, a long-time producer of Ken Loach films including this year’s Palme d’Or winner I, Daniel Blake, has suggested the lucrative UK tax credit could be amended to encourage more diversity in the industry.
“You could make the tax credit dependent on certain diversity boxes being ticked,” said O’Brien on a Creative Skillset panel at the Media Summit, run by Screen publisher Mbi.
“It would be very controversial but would certainly make a big difference.”
Films of all budget levels can claim a payable cash rebate of up to 25% of UK qualifying film production expenditure and has benefitted blockbusters such as Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Avengers: Age Of Ultron.

Power to the Pixel (PttP) has named the 30 cross-media projects from around the world selected to take part in The Pixel Market 2013 (Oct 16-17), the finance and co-production market held during the Cross-Media Forum (Oct 15-18) in association with the BFI London Film Festival.
Eight titles have been selected to compete for the Arte International Prize for The Pixel Pitch, an award of €6,000 ($8,100), announced at a ceremony on Oct 17. The titles include:
