- Georges Arnaud was born on July 16, 1917 in Montpellier, France. He was a writer, known for The Wages of Fear (1953), Sorcerer (1977) and The Wages of Fear (2024). He died on March 4, 1987 in Barcelona, Spain.
- Suspected of a triple murder in 1941, in his family manor in Escoire, Dordogne, he was acquitted partly because of the great speech by his lawyer Maurice Garçon. He later went to live in South America and came back penniless with his novel that made him famous. The original crime story is now the subject of the novel La serpe by Philippe Jaenada' which won the prestigious prix Femina.
