Now that we're nearing the end of August, Netflix has released its full list of shows and movies coming to the platform in September. But while we're super excited about all the new content set to be released on Netflix throughout next month, we can't help but think of the shows and movies that will be making their departure.

Gray Frederickson, who was part of the Oscar-winning production team for Francis Ford Coppola’s “Apocalypse Now” and “The Godfather Part II,” died Nov. 20 of prostate cancer in Oklahoma City, Okla. He was 85.
Frederickson had been called as “the Godfather of Oklahoma film” for his efforts to boost filmmaking in his home state.
“Gray is one of the most accomplished people to have ever come from our city,” Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt told The Oklahoman.
Frederickson left Oklahoma to attend the University of Lausanne in Switzerland, then started his career in Rome as producer of “Natika” in 1963. He joined Sergio Leone’s “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly” as production manager, where he met Clint Eastwood, who would become a longtime friend.
He met producer Albert S. Ruddy on the Robert Redford film “Little Fauss and Big Halsy,” which led to him coming aboard “The Godfather” as associate producer.

The Magicians turns in a messy but fun episode that drops a few compelling bombshells during a more chaotic than usual narrative.

The Magicians Season 5 Episode 4
The Magicians doesn’t do anything halfway, but unfortunately that principle also applies to its missteps, of which “Magicians Anonymous” is one. Where the series is usually able to weave together disparate storylines to create a cohesive thematic tapestry, this episode felt oddly disjointed. It was almost as if the narrative itself was akin to the brown bunny in the Etheric Realm, jumping from story to story with dizzying disorientation while admittedly charming us along the way. The installment was redeemed somewhat by significant insights into the apocalypse problem, Penny’s mysterious signal, and the troubles in Fillory, but fans are used to cleaner storytelling in this show.

Spoiler Alert: The story includes details about Thursday’s series finale of iZombie on the CW.
The CW’s iZombie on Thursday tied up several loose ends with a surprisingly happy bow in its finale last night, when the series created by Diane Ruggiero-White and Rob Thomas and starring Rose IcIver wrapped its five-season run.
The episode, fittingly titled “All’s Well That Ends Well,” seemed more likely early to take the gloomier path of Thomas’ recent Veronica Mars finale, when Liv (McIver) appeared to have been killed in a bombing and Major (Robert Buckley) volunteered to sacrifice himself by taking the cure on live TV to prove it worked. Alas, the latter turned out to be a fake dose — Ravi (Rahul Kohli) swapped it to use the real thing on the top bad guy in Fillmore Graves.

You can't keep a wicked Blaine down.
For most of iZombie Season 5 Episode 6, Blaine was down on his luck. It was gratifying that the mighty had fallen, and after a Blaine dry spell, we were due some quality content.
David Anders, despite playing this world-class lovable psychopath is the best. His voiceover work alone was a highlight of the hour.
Not only did David Anders and Bryce Hodgson shine onscreen during this installment, but Malcolm Goodwin also shined offscreen as the director for this installment. Don't you love it when our favorite actors take a spin in the director's chair of their series? It was a job well done.

Blaine was back, and iZombie Season 5 Episode 4 blessed us with an epic Capoeira routine I'll have to rewatch over and over again.
I always miss David Anders when he isn't in an hour and love him all the more when he returns to one.
His brain of the week was slightly more interesting than Liz's, but there are few complaints.
The real crime of the hour was that Project Z didn't specifically have to do with zombies. What a waste of a name, am I right?
Liz was on the brain of a tech genius which did wonders for her brainstorming and coming up with decent solutions to problems on the fly.

After a stumbling second outing, the third episode of iZombie took the series back to basics. We have a murder of the week scenario and all the zombie hijinks that go with it along with sprinklings of further plot development.
In this episode, two dancers have been murdered and Liv eats the brains of the female (Nancy) which exposes their co-dependant relationship at first and then eats the brains of the male (Gulliver). Nancy is annoyingly needy and Gulliver is an enabler of it. It’s quite an interesting case to watch unfold and has its fair share of twists and turns from beginning to end. It has a rather anticlimactic end but the scenes we get before it are entertaining enough to accept that.

Is the fifth and final season of The CW's iZombie TV show a proper send-off for Liv Moore? As we all know, the Nielsen ratings typically play a big role in determining whether a TV show like iZombie is cancelled or renewed for season six. Because many viewers feel frustration when opinions aren't considered, we'd like to offer you the chance to rate all of the iZombie season five episodes here.

iZombie has had an interesting evolution over the past four years. When it started, it was a typical murder of the week show with a self-aware zombie twist. As we head into the final season, it shows how this series has become more relevant in mirroring the darker things that are happening in the world now.
Season five begins six months after the events of the season four finale. Major oversees Fillmore Graves and it is in better hands with him leading things (such as no guillotine executions) but it’s still martial law even if it isn’t as brutal. However, tensions between humans and zombies rise when a human woman is mauled and seemingly killed by zombies in a viral video.
As is common with minority groups, zombies are more vulnerable in this situation.
iZombie has had an interesting evolution over the past four years.

Every year, fans of the iZombie TV show have wondered whether it would be cancelled or renewed for another season on The CW. Since this is the fifth and final season, sit back and enjoy it. Although no season six renewal is headed our way, there's still plenty of story to tell, and at least Rob Thomas and the writers room knew in advance that the end was nigh. Meanwhile, we'll keep an eye on the ratings, so stay tuned.

After four years of watching the population of Seattle, Wash. gradually learn that there were zombies among them, as well as following a one key undead character as she worked with the police department to solve murders, “iZombie” is getting ready to sign off of the CW. The series, which premiered in 2015, has centered on Liv Moore (Rose McIver) adjusting to her life as a crime-solving, brain-eating zombie, and, in more recent seasons, get involved in trafficking people in and out of the quarantined city.
That latter storyline is one way in which the show has taken a serious real-world topic and put a unique twist on it for its heightened world. And, showrunner Rob Thomas tells Variety, that theme will continue in the fifth and final season. “We played that last year, we’re playing it this year, but now I feel like we’re playing it dialed up,...

Finally. Bryce Hodgson, who has recurred since the first season on iZombie, has been promoted to series regular for the fifth and final season of the CW’s comedic drama.
In season 1 Hodgson portrayed Scott E. Series creator Rob Thomas, a fan of Hodgson’s work, brought his character back from the dead as a twin brother, Don E, in Season 2 and beyond. He has appeared in 39 episodes.
In iZombie, Olivia “Liv” Moore (Rose McIver) was a rosy-cheeked, disciplined, over-achieving medical resident who had her life path completely mapped out…until the night she attended a party that unexpectedly turned into a zombie feeding frenzy. As one of the newly undead, Liv is doing her best to blend in and look as human as possible. Malcolm Goodwin, Rahul Kohli, Robert Buckley, David Anders and Aly Michalka also star.
iZombie is produced by Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Spondoolie Productions and Warner Bros. Television.

I think it would be fair to say that iZombie season 4 has been problematic at parts but the finale for season 4 wraps up this season of highs and lows very well and goes above and beyond the call of duty.
The gist of the finale is that it’s a race against time to save Liv and Levon before they are executed and Major, Ravi, Clive and the returning Peyton pull out all the stops to achieve this. First, they use Levon’s documentary about the underground railroad to get the public on the side of Renegade and turn the people against Fillmore Graves. Knowing there would be a riot, Chase chooses to make the execution private and changes the time but the damage has been done as even Fillmore Grave soldiers are questioning him.

To cut straight to the chase, the penultimate episode of iZombie Season 4 is incredibly well done. Last week started to pick up the pace on storylines and this episode continues that trend so it looks like Monday’s finale is set to be a dramatic and action-filled one.
If there’s a theme of the episode, it’s the lengths that people go to for the people they love. Major is the first example of this as he kidnaps Liv and takes her out of New Seattle so she doesn’t turn herself in to Fillmore Graves to save a human smuggler (Curtis). The little twist to this is that they both eat the brains of an old married couple who absolutely adored each other and there are many lines and moments that...

So far, my reviews of iZombie haven’t been completely positive but with this latest episode, the show starts to address a few of the complaints that I’ve mentioned previously.
In 4×11, Liv eats the brain of a germophobe which is played for pretty effective laughs and my favourite moment has to be when someone sneezes loudly in the interrogation room and Liv practically throws herself across the room in response. It’s one of the better used brains in recent weeks and if next week’s trailer is anything to go by, it might be the last of the season but we’ll have to wait and see.
The first subplot to mention is Peyton. Peyton doesn’t get much attention this week but Peyton has to go to Washington to represent...

Like Rob Thomas' cancelled series, Veronica Mars, his iZombie TV show has lived its (un-) life high atop the cancellation—renewal bubble. While this undead medical examiner has yet to surpass the teen P.I.'s episode count, she now has more seasons under her belt. Still, the ratings dropped sharply last year, and now the show has moved from Tuesdays to Mondays. At this point, we're left wondering when it will bottom out. Will iZombie be cancelled or renewed for season five? Stay tuned. Inspired by the Chris Roberson—Michael Allred comic book series, iZombie stars Rose McIver as zombie/medical examiner Liv Moore. On May 11th, the iZombie TV show on The CW was renewed for a fifth season, so it's not exactly accurate to say it has been cancelled. It turns out though, that renewal was for a fifth and final season of the undead procedural from Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas. This morning on social media, star Rose McIver confirmed there would be no season six of iZombie. The news broke at today's CW Upfront presentation in New York. A CW horror dramedy, iZombie stars McIver as zombie/medical examiner Liv Moore. The “rom-com-zom-dram” also stars Malcolm Goodwin, Rahul Kohli, Robert Buckley, and David Anders. It’s official. The CW’s comedies Jane the Virgin and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend will end after their upcoming fifth and fourth seasons, respectively. Additionally, the network revealed this season that the upcoming fifth season of comedic drama iZombie also will be its last, making for string of farewells on the CW next season. It will start with Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, which is on the fall schedule, and continue in midseason with Jane the Virgin and iZombie.
The announcement is not a surprise. Ahead of Jane the Virgin‘s fifth season renewal, star Gina Rodriguez had referred to a then-potential Season 5 as “our final season,” while Crazy Ex-Girlfriend star/co-creator Rachel Bloom tweeted after its pickup, “Just found out that #CrazyExGirlfriend has been renewed for a final season.”

“iZombie” has been renewed for a fifth season at the CW.
Created by Rob Thomas, the network describes the series as the only “rom-com-zom-dram.” It stars Rose McIver as an undead medical examiner who is able to help the Seattle police department solve homicides by eating the brains of the deceased and seeing visions of the moments before their deaths. David Anders, Robert Buckley, Malcolm Goodwin, Rahul Kohli and Aly Michalka also star.
Thomas serves as executive producer alongside Diane Ruggiero-Wright, Danielle Stokdyk and Dan Etheridge. The show hails from Warner Bros. Television.
The series, which is currently airing its fourth season, is averaging a 0.25 rating in the 18-49 demo and 771,000 live viewers.
This comes on the heals of the CW’s midseason freshman drama “Life Sentence” getting canceled along with the military drama “Valor.”

iZombie better stock up on brains: The CW has renewed the undead drama for Season 5, TVLine has learned.
The series, which returned for Season 4 in late February, was noticeably absent from The CW’s mass renewal announcement in April. The fates of all of the network’s scripted dramas have now been decided, with only Life Sentence and Valor getting the axe.
Co-created by Rob Thomas and Diane Ruggiero-Wright (Veronica Mars), iZombie stars Rose McIver as zombie medical examiner Liv Moore, who works with Detective Clive Babineaux (Malcolm Goodwin) to solve murders (to put it very simply). The cast also...

I said that last week’s episode of iZombie was a bit of a structural mess but it was entertaining regardless. This week, however, I can’t say the same as this feels like a filler episode. It seems to drag to the point where it’s uncertain how the show is going to have so many plot threats pay off by the finale which is three weeks away.
In this episode, Liv eats the brain of a renegade cop which means get ready for a few Die Hard puns which is typical iZombie humour. The good thing about the show’s humour is that it is incredibly self-aware and meta but this episode is more style than substance so it makes the bad parts of this episode more apparent.

The latest episode of iZombie was a very plot driven one and somewhat different from the usual formula. However, this is nothing new for the series as this seems to happen once per season. Luckily, this episode doesn’t fail to be entertaining.
The latest murder to happen involves a white rapper and seeing Liv on white rapper brain is funny but not overplayed. Rose McIver isn’t a terrible rapper by any means but it’s played enough for laughs without crossing into face-palm territory. The murder of this rapper is solved pretty quickly instead of taking up a majority of the episode like it usually does so getting a break from the usual routine is rather interesting.

We viewers need to get comfortable with liking a villainous character just for the hell of it. That has never been more apparent than with iZombie's Blaine DeBeers.
Izombie is in its fourth season, and Blaine remains a fan-favorite no matter what he does.
Blaine has taken on many roles over the years. He has been the villain, and not quite the villain, and shifted to a definite antagonist. He has been portrayed as an antihero -- a begrudging doer of good, but most often, not without ulterior motives.
Blaine, in four seasons, has exceeded expectations and lasted longer than the confinements of iZombie Season 1 ever should have allowed.
What iZombie blessed us with is superb casting. David Anders is so frustratingly charismatic and charming that it's almost nauseating. He's exceptional in this role adding nuance and complexity to a character who on paper should have been one-note.

Wow.
Let iZombie Season 4 Episode 5 be known as the game-changer hour for the New Seattle. Who would have thought an installment that teased a humorous hockey case would take us down such a dark path?
"Goon Struck" was unexpectedly heartwrenching, horrific, devastating, and beyond intense. It had my undivided attention, and it may have changed the course for the rest of the season.
First off, I'll concede to your Chase assessments. Chase was having a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. Most of his days have been this way since New Seattle was established.
It's not that I refused to believe that he's conflicted and morally gray. My issue has been that the show relied too heavily on that when some of his actions didn't necessarily support it.
I'll love Jason Dohring forever, and despite my criticism of Chase, I actually find the character compelling. As of late, he appeared to be floundering.

Five episodes were provided prior to broadcast.
From the get-go, the various elements iZombie boasts that made me a fan were its clever writing, amazing performances put forth by lead actress Rose McIver, and the fact that it can’t be pinned down to a single genre. But what assured that I’d keep coming back for more was that each successive season was better than the last. And after viewing the first handful of episodes from the current run, it may be too early for me to say that proud tradition will continue, though it’s more than apparent the series is still going very, very strong.
Actually, it’s quite understandable if even some of the most devout viewers went into this season with some trepidation, despite all that was listed above. After all, season 3’s finale completely turned the series on its head by turning 10,000 Seattle residents...
