National Award-winning lyricist Swanand Kirkire, who has penned the song "Hawa aane de", which talks about the perils of air pollution, says the young generation should be made aware of these issues in schools.
Kirkire told the publication: "I have seen in Mumbai, especially in areas where I have lived, pollution from crackers has noticeably gone down. Schools have started educating children that it is uncool to burn crackers. So, children have automatically started saying that they will take care of air pollution and will stop burning crackers.
"I feel it's the correct age to talk to children and create awareness about air pollution to bring about a change in the future."
Kirkire believes elders should be setting an example by leading a good lifestyle, and they can contribute to raising voice against the air pollution.
"At the policy level, many changes need to be made. Elders should do a lot of things.

Singer Shaan, who has sung "Hawa aane de" -- a track for the forthcoming World Environment Day to create awareness around air pollution -- says music has the power to convey messages in an effective way.
Shaan, who has also composed the song, told the agency: "The whole idea of creating this song is to create awareness towards air pollution. I wouldn't think I am a major influence of sorts, but I'm a creative person. I feel I have a social responsibility and so it stems from there.
"In fact, it's not like Bhamla Foundation asked me to do it. I feel that through music, you can say what you may not be able to say through words."
This is the reason why, he says, many songs on social change come out.

Anurag Basu wanted to make a musical and he made it. But the amazing fact is that he decided to make a musical out of a detective narrative. “Jagga Jasoos” is one of the smartest Hindi movies of recent time, which bypasses the fence of typical stereotypes of filmmaking approaches in bollywood and is a delight to watch.
Jagga – a shy young boy, is reluctant to express his feelings verbally, as he stammers. But one day his father ( Saswata Chatterjee) advices him to prolong his technique of speaking by singing his thoughts. So Jagga starts singing while expressing his thoughts using the emotional quotient of mind controlled by the right portion of the brain (as it says). The summer smasher is creating history across streaming services globally as well as in India. The bilingual dance song is being credited for breaking barriers across territories and winning hearts worldwide. To celebrate the massive success of the song in India, Universal Music India & Shiamak Davar are launching a dance movement aptly titled The Despacito Movement.
The movement encourages dancers from across the country to groove to the song and send in their rendition of choreography to it. The Record label has kicked off this campaign on their social media pages for fans to send in their entries. The best dancers will be handpicked by the master of choreography Shiamak Davar himself to be a part of an epic India dance video for the song. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity for dancers to be a part of this dream collaboration.
For the first time, ever, an Indian Dance Video will be choreographed for a global hit of this magnitude. The video will showcase an Indian twist to the Spanish song and will be premiered exclusively India’s only lifestyle and music channel Vh1.
Peurto Rican superstar Luis Fonsi of the hit song says “Hello India, I’m so thrilled, excited & honored to know that my song Despacito is #1 in India! Thank you so much for the support. I hope you guys keep dancing & checking out my song.”
Sharing excitement for the collaboration, choreographer Shiamak Davar said, “I’m excited to get the opportunity to choreograph the India Video for Despacito. I’m all for collaborations especially when it helps us showcase the uniqueness in our Indian Style, movement and choreography. I love the song and I’m really looking forward to choreographing the video!”
Devraj Sanyal Managing Director and CEO, Universal Music Group, India & South Asia commented, “Despacito” is by far the biggest International hit of the year! The momentum we are seeing on the song in India is simply incredible! It’s on course to break all audio streaming records here and we are thrilled to be home to a definitive song like this! As part of our plans to take the song deeper and to a wider audience, we are excited to partner with Shaimak Davar to create the India Dance Video for the song. It’s a brilliant opportunity for fans of the song to now engage in the video that too with India’s premiere dance guru Shiamak. Join the #DespacitoMovement now and be part of history in the making!”

The song in its original format has crossed the 2 Billion View mark on YouTube/Vevo with more than 1.9 Billion Views in less than six months! The song is also at the #1 spot on the Hot Latin charts for a phenomenal 21 consecutive weeks.
