Elysian Film Group has debuted a new trailer for his follow-up to Benh Zeitlin’s Oscar-nominated film ‘Beasts of The Southern Wild’, ‘Wendy.’
The film follows the classic story of Peter Pan which is wildly reimagined in this ragtag epic starring a stunning cast of young actors, headlined by Devin France in the title role of Wendy.
While lost on a mysterious island where ageing and time have come unglued, Wendy must fight to save her family, her freedom, and the joyous spirit of youth from the deadly peril of growing up.

Directed and written by Zeitlin alongside his sister Eliza Zeitlin, he wanted to capture and reinvent the childhood myth that had captivated him and his sister. Rather than Peter’s story, their tale focuses on Wendy who experiences Neverland but has to leave it behind.

Ahead of the film’s premiere at Sundance, Fox Searchlight and French sales outfit Celluloid Dreams have partnered on international rights to Wendy, the hotly-anticipated first directing joint for Benh Zeitlin since his 2012 debut Beasts Of The Southern Wild.
The pic is dated for a U.S. release on February 28 via Searchlight. Celluloid Dreams has now taken on the rest of the world, excluding South America, Italy, South Africa, German-speaking territories, Poland, China, Hong Kong, and Airlines – Fox retains those rights.
Celluloid Dreams will begin selling territories at Sundance.
The news follows Disney’s acquisition of Fox last year. Searchlight continues to operate as its own entity, now owned by Disney, but its films have been added to a packed Disney slate.

Four features under his belt (2004’s Malachance, 2006’s Drama/Mex, 2008’s I’m Gonna Explode and 2011’s Miss Bala) and Gerardo Naranjo‘s only history with the Sundance film festival is as a jury member. That might change come next January. One that I consider the odd man out among filmmakers from the Mexican film renaissance that commenced back with Iñárritu’s Amores Perros, from lovers on the run, beauty queens on the move and young adults hitting the road, there is a lot of chaotic displacement in his films. Since his sophomore feature, his films are high value festival items and since this is a U.S. shot project, Viena and the Fantomes could very much land a coveted Premieres category showing to make bidders.
