Jamie Lee Curtis cannot escape the reach of Halloween's Michael Myers or Laurie Strode. And she doesn't want to.
Jamie Lee Curtis knows the importance of Halloween and the boogeyman it unleashed. She can feel their combined shadow when entering a ballroom at San Diego Comic-Con. Arriving slightly behind the other filmmakers she’s partnered with to bring that boogeyman back, her presence causes the cavernous space filled with journalists to go quiet. All eyes are on the woman in a black blazer and horn-rimmed glasses. Next to me, Halloween producer Jason Blum murmurs, to no one in particular, that there is a queen.
“It is my life,” Curtis says once she sits across the table from reporters, reflecting on the significance of her breakout role. “This is the greatest job I will ever have, and I know it. I knew it then, I tried to pretend it wasn’t,...

After hearing about the project for a number of years, it seemed like David Gordon Green’s remake of Suspiria was moving forward early last year. In May 2012, it had been announced that Isabelle Fuhrman (Orphan, The Hunger Games) was cast in the lead role, with production expected to start in September 2012.
Nothing happened in September and we haven’t heard about the project since. Thankfully, The Playlist caught up with David Gordon Green at Sundance and he talked about the status of the project:
“Suspiria is caught up in legal crap so who knows what will ever happen to that… That kind of falls into the ‘Confederacy Of Dunces’ category of ‘someday I’d like to make these movies’ that I was once attached to and worked on, but they may never happen.”
The remake of Suspiria was to be produced and financed by Crime Scene Pictures partners Adam Ripp and Rob Paris,...

There's been talk of remaking Dario Argento's "Suspiria" for a while, and now comes word that Isabelle Fuhrman (The Hunger Games, Orphan) has been cast as the lead. She will join a cast comprised of Isabelle Huppert (Amour), Janet McTeer (The Woman in Black), Michael Nyqvist (Mission: Impossible . Ghost Protocol) and Antje Traue (Man of Steel). The Hunger Games / Orphan‘s Isabelle Fuhrman to star in Suspiria. In David Gordon Green‘s remake of the Dario Argento horror classic, Fuhrman will play the old Jessica Harper role: an American student who discovers that her European boarding school is a coven of witches. Joining Fuhrman are Isabelle Huppert, Janet McTeer, Michael Nyqvist, and Antje Traue. According to Screen International, Wild Bunch is currently selling distribution rights at the Cannes Film Festival, which kicked off this evening. Also attached to Suspiria are costume designer Milena Canonero (Marie Antoinette, Carnage) and a couple of Green collaborators: production designer Richard A. Wright (The Sitter, Undertow) and cinematographer Tim Orr (Pineapple Express, Your Highness). David Gordon Green penned the screenplay with Christof Gebert, a sound mixer in several of Green’s films. Pure speculation: I’m assuming Isabelle Huppert will have the old Alida Valli role. If so, that’s brilliant casting,...

David Gordon Green's remake of Dario Argento's classic horror film Susperia is still moving forward, and he's cast 15-year-old Isabelle Fuhrman in the lead role. Fuhrman played the creepy ass little girl in the horror thriller Orphan, and had a supporting role in The Hunger Games.
Chris Gebert and Green wrote the script that tells the story of a young American student who travels to Europe to attend a world renowned dance school. After a series of brutal murders, she learns that the academy is a front for something way more sinister than education... a coven of evil witches.
I love the original film, it's full of creepy psychedelic music, sound and imagery. This is one of those movies that I watch every Halloween. I hope Green can pull off a decent remake, but it's hard to see how it can be any better than what's already been done.

Though her big break came as the creepy tituar lead in the horror film Orphan, more casual movie goers might recognize Isabelle Fuhrman as one of the more villainous tributes in The Hunger Games. Now Variety reports the young actress is set to return to horror in the lead role of David Gordon Green's long gestating remake of Dario Argento's remake of the 1977 horror film Suspiria. Over a year ago, Green wanted the film to be his next project, and now with the HBO series "Eastbound & Down" all wrapped up, he's making it happen with an eye towards a September start and a script he co-wrote with Chris Gebert. The original film followed Suzie, a young girl who travels to Europe to attend a world-renowned school, only to learn that the academy is a front for a coven of witches. Presumably, the story will be set in contemporary times,...

David Gordon Green continued to move forward with arguably the most anticipated movie of his eclectic career, a remake of the classic Dario Argento horror film Suspiria, based on a script Green co-wrote with Christof Gebert. According to Empire, Green moved forward on the project casting The Hunger Games actress Isabelle Fuhrman in the thriller about a young woman who travels to Europe to attend an elite boarding school only to discover that it’s managed by a coven of witches. Fuhrman played Clove in The Hunger Games and also starred in the horror movie Orphan. Green generated a lot of buzz for his Chrysler ad featuring Clint Eastwood that debuted during the Super Bowl. It was a nice bounce back for the longtime indie filmmaker after the box office failure of his Jonah Hill comedy The Sitter.
