Robert Zemeckis’ Here isn’t a movie. It’s a carousel. From his fixed point of view, the film travels around and around and back home again. Here is an ambitious project filled with technical innovation and formal know-how that, like Megalopolis, has a reach that extends beyond its grasp.

Filmmaker Robert Zemeckis, Tom Hanks, Robin Wright, and much of the crew that made Forrest Gump reunite for Here, an ambitious undertaking telling a series of stories through time that take place in one specific patch of earth. For most of the film, that patch is the living room of a suburban home.
The film opens with an elderly man named Richard Young (Hanks) being allowed to visit his old home before it goes up for sale. The film then travels back to when dinosaurs roamed the earth and then whooshes through the ice age before taking another time jump to native Americans hunting. All of this occurs in the same spot where the house will eventually be.
Here is comprised of a series of short stories featuring different couples living in the home. In the early 1900s,...

In Hollywood, most movies tell stories. But not “Here.”
Adapted from a conceptual graphic novel by Richard McGuire where the perspective is the same on every page — the living room of a century-old American house — while rectangle-shaped panels within each frame reveal actions from different years, if not entirely separate epochs, “Here” is about an idea.
Have you ever sat in a place — maybe a hotel room, a park bench or a remote clearing — and wondered what happened there before? How many people have kissed on that exact spot? Or fought, or fallen in love? And what does that say about human experience, that people can be linked by common actions, and places can hold both memories and secrets?
There are deep thoughts to be found down such rabbit holes, and a film version of “Here” points in roughly the right direction, only to get distracted by a handful of far shallower threads — namely,...

It’s Friday the 13th, and we have decided to celebrate by releasing a new episode of the What Happened to This Horror Movie? video series that digs into one of the more divisive entries in the Friday the 13th film franchise: the fifth entry, 1985’s Friday the 13th: A New Beginning (watch it Here), a movie that doesn’t have Jason Voorhees or his mother doing the killing. This time around, the slashing was done by a copycat – and you can hear all about it in the video embedded above.
Directed by Danny Steinmann, who also crafted the screenplay with Martin Kitrosser and David Cohen, Friday the 13th: A New Beginning has the following synopsis: Years after Tommy Jarvis murdered hockey-masked serial killer Jason Voorhees, he resides in a mental hospital and struggles with the trauma of the experience. When Tommy moves to an isolated halfway house, he has nightmares about Jason’s return,...

Sydney Sweeney fell victim to a cyber attack earlier this, with hackers compromising both her social media presence and personal phone number.
Technology news outlet 404 Media obtained evidence suggesting that Sweeney’s Verizon Wireless account was tampered with on the same day her X (formerly Twitter) account was hijacked. The outlet published an image of a Verizon receipt dated July 2, which detailed changes made to an account under Sweeney’s name.
Verizon spokesperson Richard Young stated that while he couldn’t discuss specific customer situations, the company takes privacy and security seriously. “When an issue is brought to our attention, we work quickly to investigate and remediate the issue, and work to ensure it doesn’t happen again,” Young told 404 Media.
window._taboola = window._taboola || []; _taboola.push({ mode: 'thumbnails-mid', container: 'taboola-mid-article-thumbnails', placement: 'Mid Article Thumbnails', target_type: 'mix' });
The attack on Sweeney’s X account involved the posting of unauthorized messages promoting a cryptocurrency scheme.

In 1989, with the release of their debut album Pickin’ on Nashville and its standout track “Dumas Walker,” the Kentucky Headhunters shared their favorite meal with country music fans all over America: a slawburger, fries and a bottle of Ski. The only problem was that few knew what the hell the band was singing about.
More concerning at the time, neither did influential record man Harold Shedd, who signed the long-haired, scruffy-looking Headhunters to their deal with Mercury Records and was poised to introduce them to Nashville and beyond. To Shedd’s ears,...

Bohemian Rhapsody has become the highest-grossing biopic of all-time, thanks in large part to Queen’s East Asian fans. According to sales figures from IMDb’s Box Office Mojo, the biopic has made more money in South Korea ($70 million) and in Japan ($64 million) than in the band’s home of Great Britain ($63 million). The Asian sales numbers were only bested by the U.S., where the film grossed $195 million as of January 9th.
The biopic’s popularity for Korean and Japanese fans may be attributed to “sing-along” screenings of the film in South Korea,...

“Bohemian Rhapsody” may have a lot of people in America groaning about its Golden Globe win for Best Motion Picture Drama, but moviegoers in South Korea and Japan simply can’t get enough of the Freddie Mercury biopic. As reported by The Washington Post, “Bohemian Rhapsody” has sold 9.4 million tickets and counting in South Korea, where the population is 51 million people. The South Korea total of $72 million makes the country a higher grosser for the film than Queen’s own home of Britain.
The success of “Bohemian Rhapsody” has a caused a chain reaction in South Korea, where The Post reports Queen-related events are dominating pop culture. Richard Young, the official photographer for Queen, currently has an exhibition on display in South Korea, while Queen tribute band Bohemians have launched a tour to bring fans of the movie and the group together.
“Bohemian Rhapsody” box office is also booming in Japan with $56 million and counting.

This film was the very first one that I wrote any kind review for on an online platform. That was the first brave step in my cause for championing this film. Albeit, it was a small step, because maybe two people probably stumbled across it. Either way, I did it and I’m not ashamed. Matter of fact, I’m taking it to the big show by including it here. All of my feelings for this bastard child of the series just happened to resurface...

Chicago – The reboot of “Friday the 13th” was another financially successful notch in the belt of Platinum Dunes, the film company behind the remakes of “Texas Chainsaw Massacre,” “The Hitcher,” and “The Amityville Horror”. Making $90 million worldwide and more domestically than any previous Jason Voorhees movie (that didn’t include Freddy Krueger), “Friday the 13th” has a following that will be ecstatic with the excellent Blu-Ray release for the slasher title.
Blu-Ray Rating: 3.5/5.0 The Blu-Ray of “Friday the 13th” delivers everything fans could ask for. Not only do they present a longer and better cut of the film in the 9-minutes-longer “Extended Cut,” but the special features enhance the “Friday the 13th” experience and the technical transfer is nearly flawless.

As for the film itself, my response to “Friday the 13th” is mixed at best. I love...
