When Elon Musk acquired Twitter, he made it clear that eradicating spam bots was a top priority. But his strategies on that front have produced, at best, mixed results. Moreover, in recent months, some users have been plagued by a type of spam that directly violates Twitter policy: automated replies from accounts offering guns for sale.
The bots themselves — which are constantly reported and suspended, only for new bots to take their place — appear to be activated by specific keywords. Any mention of firearms may summon them, but cursing and other strong language can too.

Animals are known for sensing and fleeing from natural disasters before they happen. Octopi are especially heralded for their intelligence, displayed through their ability to open jars and predict World Cup matches. So when one octopus, let alone a group of octopi, start acting irregularly, it’s wise to take notice.
That is exactly what’s currently happening in Wales: odd octopi behavior.
According to The Guardian, for several nights in a row, curled octopi have been crawling out of the ocean in groups of 20 or so to flounder on the sand of the Welsh beach New Quay. The abnormal...

Darius Rucker‘s asking that question on his new single, dropping Friday along with his long-awaited fifth studio country album, When Was the Last Time on Capitol Records Nashville. The LP is a follow-up to the Grammy-winning artist’s Southern Style.

You may not have realized that there was ever a monarchy of sorts in the United States — and it’s currently wrapped up in some serious drama.

It was cashed out in 2007, and 91-year-old Abigail Kawānanakoa, a descendant of the Royal House of Kawānanakoa, was one of its beneficiaries. She is one of...

In Mariah's world -- her literal world, which also obviously serves as legendary fodder for the aptly titled eight-part E! docu-series Mariah's World -- if there's no Apple TV, there's no show. (It makes you wonder: How did the diva of all divas perform before digital media players?)
But in the grand scheme of Mariah Carey's outsized life, which we're privy to in this "don't call it a reality series" circus of a show that actually does feature her ex-fiance James Packer (and new admirer Bryan Tanaka), it's as vital as the oxygen she breathes and the fifth octave she hits. Long before Tim Burton's movie, a Mars Attacks screenplay written by Alex Cox lists Donald Trump as an ex-us president...
Mars Attacks! is likely remembered by most as a Tim Burton joint. Released in 1996, the alien invasion comedy featured an eclectic cast - Danny DeVito, Michael J Fox, Tom Jones and Jack Nicholson to name a few - and stood as a macabre counterpoint to that year's other big invasion flick, Independence Day.
Mars Attacks had a long half-life in Hollywood before Burton even got involved, however. The project was originally dreamed up by Repo Man director Alex Cox, who'd collected the infamous trading cards of the same name when he was a child. Cox first proposed an adaptation for Mars Attacks to Orion Pictures in 1985, and wrote three drafts of a screenplay over the course of four years. You can read drafts two and three...

Thanks to his hilarious food review, James Wright Chanel became a viral video sensation. Now, he’s going to be on TV, too. Chanel, whose over-the-top take on a Patti Labelle-brand sweet potato pie has earned more than four million views to date, will star alongside Labelle in a holiday special on the Cooking Channel.
Labelle, who has enjoyed a six-decade music career in the R&B and soul genres, is a regular presence on the Cooking Channel thanks to her show Patti Labelle’s Place. For the holiday edition of the show, which will air on December 16th, Chanel will join Labelle in the kitchen. They’ll cook up all sorts of Yuletide treats, including (of course) sweet potato pie.
The special will be the latest collaboration between Labelle and her biggest fan. On Thanksgiving, Labelle invited Chanel to her home, where they danced together and sang a duet.

After making her sweet potato pies fly off the shelves with an all-time great viral review of her pie, Patti Labelle superfan James Wright got the chance to spend Thanksgiving with Ms. Patti herself.YouTube celebrity James Wright posted several videos of his time with the star and master chef, confirming in the process that Patti Labelle's Thanksgiving spread is just as awesome as you would hope. Wright celebrated his birthday on Thursday, so Patti also sang him "Happy Birthday," helped him decorate a birthday cake, and danced with him to “You Are My Friend.” Questlove was also on the scene, and ready to confirm that they did, indeed, sample some of Patti's pie. How could they not?...

When James Wright posted a YouTube video detailing his reaction to a new food item, he probably didn’t think he was about to cause a supply shortage at a major retailer, but that’s exactly what he did. Wright’s hysterical reaction to the Patti Labelle-brand sweet potato pie has caused a sellout at Walmart, with the nationwide chain rushing to restock its shelves.
In his video, Wright tries out the sweet potato pie and begins singing its praises--as well as a few of Labelle’s songs--once he tastes it. In less than two weeks, Wright’s antics have rolled up more than three million views on YouTube. If you haven’t seen his fine work yet, consider adding to his impressive view count; I don’t think you’ll be disappointed:

Downton Abbey is already an international phenomenon and one especially loved in the Us, but you don't really arrive on the international scene until you have your very own porn parody.
Well, the wait is now over, with UK Harmony Films's announcement of Down on Abby (really) - a XXX parody of Julian Fellowes's award-winning drama.
"As Down on Abby is our first foray into the world of adult parody and with Harmony being a British studio, it was a no brainer that our first offering would be with something that is quintessentially British," says Harmony's VP of sales and marketing James Wright.
So with filming now complete and a release date set for April 1, we round up everything you need to know about this sure-fire hit.
- It's set at "the beautiful Bottomley Manor"

On her first exposure to animal poaching:
"When I was a teenager, I picked up a book my mom was reading, and it opened to this page that had a very graphic description of the stockyards in Chicago. I read that, and my stomach just turned. I closed the book and said, 'Well, that’s it. I’m never eating another bite of meat...

In this guest post Red Agency MD James Wright assesses drugs cheat Lance Armstromg’s PR strategy in his Oprah confessional.
I was a huge fan of Lance Armstrong. Like many others I followed his career with awe, winning arguably the toughest event in the world, ‘The Tour’ seven times was incredible. I followed his interviews, read the books and supported his charity. Now, as we stand on the crest of what is probably the biggest sporting scandal of the modern era there is a feeling of betrayal.
Lance has taken a well trodden path in the crisis manual; confess to a huge TV audience, throw in a few tears, say you are sorry, talk about the pressure you were under, the cancer battle and seek forgiveness. Oprah is the biggest show in town for Americans wanting to get their confessional on and importantly, if Oprah shows understanding, even sympathy,...

Music streaming service Guvera is set to relaunch later this month.
The portal is a free music streaming service which also offers music downloads for users who first watch advertisements.
The relaunch news comes just weeks after Goldcoast.com.au reported the Queensland-based company company had reported a $22m combined loss over the past two financial years. The company was founded by Australian-based Swede Claies Loberg in 2008 and launched its site in early 2010. In March of that year, the company appointed former MySpace national head of sales Jonathan Rogin as head of sales and said it had signed a number of key advertisers including McDonald’s, Mountain Dew and Johnson & Johnson.
In August 2011, former Virgin Music founder and Emi North America president, Phil Quartararo was appointed to helm the business. Since then the company has also struggled to find headway in the ever-expanding music streaming sector, with services like Spotify...

Clients featured in the video include Warner Bros, energy suppliers Make it Cheaper, technology consultancy Capgemini, Fairfax Media, property group Satterley and market research consultants Dbm.
James Wright, managing director at Red Agency, said: “This is a chance to celebrate the ground-breaking work we have been involved with down the years and to thank our loyal client base that has supported us throughout. Bright and early on Monday morning earlier this week, I got to go along to a fancy hotel just across the road from Westminster Abbey to attend the In Time Stunt Day to mark the release of the movie on DVD and Blu-ray on Monday 27th. I had no idea what to expect going into this other than being told that it would be a lot of fun and that I’d be in a suit while performing various acts of silliness! We also knew that Justin Timberlake’s stunt-double, Sam Hargrave was going to be there to give us tips on how to become stunt men and woman and as you’ll see from the video below, we gave it a fair crack!
It’s always nice to turn up to these events and see a friendly face or two. Well in this instance there were a dozen with...

Numerous cultures and religions throughout the span of history have lived their lives based on a zodiac calendar. Established because of the measurable and cyclical movement of the constellations in the sky at different points throughout the year, peoples assign varied names to a rotating number of time periods, either by the year or month. Some are named after animals, others the stars themselves. Now we have a zodiac of our own. Two friends have created The Geek Zodiac, a fun infographic that goes backwards in time and attempts to show the cyclical nature of science fiction, action and fantasy pop culture. But does it really all work out? Find out for yourself after the break. The Geek Zodiac was conceived by James Wright and designed by his friend Josh Eckert. The final image is from Wright's Tumblr, Words That Fit [1]. Head over there to read about its conception [2] but,...

Al Jazeera's aggressive expansion into cyberspace hopes to empower a new generation of newsmakers, impact the American news market, and capture the attention of young cable cutters.
Fresh off the wild success of Internet-fueled Middle-East revolution stories, Al Jazeera English today is launching the online component to its forthcoming social media-centered news program, The Stream. It's the most aggressive integration of social media into a live news program to date. And Al Jazeera says it wants to capture a new generation of cable "cord cutters," push the limits of so-called "citizen journalism," and inch into American media territory.
A social storytelling service powers the editorially curated content, which is complimented by community commenting before, during, and after the anchored news show. It's scheduled to start airing May 2nd.
A Community Webshow
"Most TV creates a show and then have a website as an addendum," says newly minted co-host Derrick Ashong.

Here's a fun creation called The Geek Zodiac. The concept came from James Wright, and it was designed by Josh Eckert. You all know how the Zodiac works, this is just targeted to geeks. Click to enlarge and enjoy!
Here's the fine print which is hard to read on the design:
† This is not to say that Ninja and Samurai are the same, only that they tend to appear around the same time and often in the same stories. And yes, Jedi Knight falls under this category (but depending on your reading, Han Solo would be either Pirate or Treasure Hunter).
* Also includes those who hunt the undead.
** “Desenrascanço (loosely translatable as “disentanglement”) is a Portuguese word used, in common language, to express an ability to solve a problem without having the knowledge or the adequate tools to do so, by use of imaginative resources or by applying knowledge to new situations.

No doubt about it, any regular visitor to HeyUGuys will realise that we’re pretty damn obsessed with the David Lynch and Mark Frost television drama Twin Peaks, perhaps even more so than Agent Cooper’s fixation with eating a fine slice of cherry pie.
If you’ve never seen the show, and weren’t following our Twin Peaks Retrospective earlier in the year, then we strongly recommend that you take the time to sit down and watch what is a near perfect slice of TV drama.
So naturally when we heard news of a recreation of Twin Peaks taking place at the hauntingly gorgeous Templeworks building in Leeds, we were there quicker than you could say ‘Diane…’.
Going off without a hitch, the night was an unbridled success, complimented by some outstanding acts, some damn fine genuine David Lynch Signature coffee and a wealth of Twin Peaks fancy dress characters.

Sandy Collora is perhaps best known as the man who directed the cult short film Batman: Dead End, praised by Kevin Smith as “possibly the truest, best Batman movie ever made”, albeit before the Nolan era.
Now, seven years later, Collora has thrown off the shackles of his short film career with the release of his debut feature film Hunter Prey, a science fiction spectacular with the same heart and soul as the glorious Sci-fi of the mid 1980’s.
HeyUGuys were fortunate enough to grab some time with the much-celebrated director and FX designer to talk about his new film, working with bigger budgets and the state of science fiction films today.
This interview was conducted by James Wright.

Up-and-coming bands like Shinedown are helping Warner Music Group pull off the hardest trick in the music biz: redefining the record label for the digital age.
On a chilly night in Manhattan, Julie Greenwald is steamed. "I hate free! Why should people get music for free?" says the 40-year-old spitfire COO of Atlantic Records, one of two major labels of Warner Music Group, and the first big label with more U.S. music revenue from digital downloads than physical discs. She's in the VIP room backstage at the Nokia Theatre, where Atlantic rock act Shinedown headlines a sold-out show. "Music isn't free!" she says.

Last month we reported news of Melissa George’s next project, the ominously titled A Lonely Place to Die. The film, directed by Julian Gilbey, whose previous outings include the tense thrillers Rise of the Footsoldiers and Rollin’ With the Nines, centres on a group of climbers who discover a young girl buried in the Scottish mountains who is victim of a kidnapping.
George plays one of the climbers and stars alongside Ed Speleers, Karel Roden, Eamonn Walker and Sean Harris in what is being shaped up to be a thrilling and taut action caper.
We were lucky enough to catch up with Melissa George on set and the Golden Globe nominee revealed all on her dislike of Scottish rivers, how Martin Freeman thinks she’s a closet drinker and why she would happily work with Benicio Del Toro.
This interview was conducted by James Wright.
