- Rodney D. Wingfield originally wrote the book Frost at Christmas in the 1970's, but failed to get it published. Instead he turned it into a radio play starring Leslie Sands as Jack Frost. The book was finally published in 1982 and has been followed by A Touch of Frost (1987), Night Frost (1992), Hard Frost (1996) and Winter Frost (2000). In 1992 ITV began the dramatisations of his books starring David Jason in the lead role, but owing to the complex nature of his novels and the many different sub-plots in them, one novel became the basis of up to three television stories. Wingfield has never watched the series in case it influences his novels.
- Creator of Inspector William "Jack" Frost of Denton C.I.D.
- Used to write comedy scripts for Kenneth Williams.
- I have nothing against David Jason as Frost at all, he just isn't my idea of Frost
