Oscar-winning superstar Nicole Kidman has been forced to pull out of filming for the sequel to Lars Von Trier's Dogville due to "scheduling problems". The announcement comes just a day after reports suggested that Kidman may also have to withdraw from the Brad Pitt film Mr. And Mrs. Smith due to a clash with her Stepford Wives remake work timetable. Von Trier had hoped the tall blonde would appear in all three parts of the trilogy, but scheduling conflicts have forced Moulin Rouge beauty Nicole to renege on her agreement to star in the second film, Manderlay. Von Trier's producer Vibeke Windelov laments, "We and she would love for her to do it, but we simply couldn't make it work." At the Cannes Film Festival this year, Nicole reportedly told Trier, "Lars, you know there's no doubt I will. Lars, I'm going to star in your pictures, no matter what it will cost."
