London, April 17 (Ians) Arsenal’s lead at the top of the Premier League was cut to four points over Manchester City, who have a game in hand, after a dramatic afternoon saw them draw 2-2 at West Ham’s London Stadium.
Arsenal looked to be cruising to a comfortable win when Gabriel Jesus put them ahead over David Moyes’ strugglers after seven minutes, and Martin Odegaard doubled the lead three minutes later, reports Xinhua.
West Ham dug in and got back into the match in the 33rd minute, thanks to Said Benrahma’s penalty. Bukayo Saka had the chance to again extend Arsenal’s lead from the penalty spot in the 52nd minute but sent his effort well wide.

London, April 16 (Ians) Manchester City put the pressure on Arsenal at the top of the Premier League with a comfortable 3-1 win at home to Leicester City on Saturday evening.
Although Leicester appointed Dean Smith as coach until the end of the season, the new man in the dugout could only watch as City raced into a 3-0 lead, with John Stones lashing home a volley in the 5th minute, reports Xinhua.
Erling Haaland converted a penalty, given for handball in the 13th minute and the striker netted his 47th goal of the season with just 25 minutes on the clock, thanks to a simple finish after a Kevin de Bruyne assist.
Kelechi Iheanacho pulled a goal back against his former club with 15 minutes left to play
Manchester United were the big winners in the race for a top-four finish without kicking a ball as Newcastle United and Tottenham both lost.

Leverage: Redemption is back for Season 2. The show follows the Leverage crew made up of the Grifter, the Hitter, the Thief and the Hacker, as they seek to make the world a better place by leveling the playing field with some unorthodox means.
Noah Wyle, who plays Harry Wilson, recently sat with uInterview founder Erik Meers to discuss why he believes the show resonates with audiences today.
“I think tastes are cyclical and when Leverage was popular the first time, the climate was ripe for a show about Robin Hoods who were helping little guys who were being crushed by big guys,” Wyle said. “Tastes change and you don’t want your heroes to necessarily always be wearing a white hat. You don’t necessarily want all your heroes wearing a black hat. We started getting a lot of black-hatted good guys. We started getting a lot of white-hatted bad guys for awhile.

New York Republican gubernatorial candidate Andrew Giuliani won’t get a shot. But he wants television to give him a shot at convincing voters.
Giuliani, the son of former New York City mayor Rudolph Giuliani, claims that New York’s local news station, NY1, barred him from their studios for the next gubernatorial debate because he’s unvaccinated.
Last week, CBS also barred Andrew Giuliani from their studio debate because of his vaccination status.
Andrew Giuliani says he should be allowed to debate rival candidates Lee Zeldin, Harry Wilson and Rob Astorino. He proposed a neutral location or in the Chelsea studio of the cable news channel.

Timothy Hutton has sued Electric Entertainment, the producers of TNT series “Leverage,” for breach of contract after dropping him from the 2021 series reboot, “Leverage: Redemption,” over an allegation of sexual assault.
In March 2020, Buzzfeed reported that a woman had filed a complaint with the Vancouver Police Department in British Columbia, Canada, alleging the “Ordinary People” star had raped her in 1983 when she was 14.
Hutton, who was in Canada to film “Iceman” in 1983, has denied the allegations and cites the victim’s alleged request for a $1.5 million payment as a “bizarre extortion attempt.”
B.C. prosecutors did not end up pressing charges against the actor, but it did cost him the lead role on the series reboot about a band of Robin Hood-like thieves. The original series ran from 2008 to 2012 and the reboot premiered on IMDb TV in July 2021.

Richard Cunha’s third of four horror item for Astor Pictures is perhaps the most marketable: in 1958 almost anything with the name Dracula or Frankenstein could get a big release. The Film Detective’s new disc (remastered from a 4K scan) shows the picture at its absolute best and confirms Cunha as a decent director. The monsters are dire but most of the acting is rather good: Sandra Knight, Donald Murphy, Wolfe Barzell and Sally Todd in particular. It’s core nostalgia for monster fans, and much gorier than we remembered.

Some fun guest stars appear in Leverage: Redemption Season 1 to make it very much a family-oriented show — especially behind the scenes. Noah Wyle’s (corporate lawyer-turned-fixer Harry Wilson) real-life wife and daughter, and Gina Bellman’s (grifter Sophie Devereaux) daughter will appear in the second half of the first season (dropping October 8 on IMDb TV), TV Insider has learned. And even better: the kids will be acting opposite their parents. Bellman’s child, Romy Sethna, guest stars as the daughter of a legendary grifter, Stella (Joanna Cassidy), in Episode 11, “The Jackal Job.” In the episode, the team explores Stella’s failing memory to try and find her greatest score before her abusive Elder Guardian can get his hands on it and take over her life. As Leverage did in its original run, one of the team will be playing Stella in the flashbacks, and in this case, it’s, of course,...

“Leverage” returned on Friday in the form of the eight-episode revival, “Leverage: Redemption,” on the streaming service IMDb TV. But Timothy Hutton, whose character Nate Ford served as the center of the original TNT series, does not appear on screen.
“Leverage,” which ran for five seasons on TNT between 2008 and 2012, starred Hutton as a former insurance investigator who becomes the leader of the Robin Hood-esque gang of criminals who steal from the corrupt and powerful to avenge their victims. The original series ended with Nate (Hutton) and his new fiancée Sophie (Gina Bellman) walking away from the criminal life for good, handing the keys to their organization over to the rest of the crew.

Hitter. Hacker. Grifter. Thief. Brains. For five seasons on TNT, “Leverage” followed four lone wolf criminals — led by former insurance investigator, Nathan Ford (Timothy Hutton) — turned crew of Robin Hoods, fighting corporate and government injustices inflicted upon everyday people. Using their individual skills as a team to steal from the deceitful and remorseless rich and powerful, the Leverage crew’s motto was simple: “Sometimes bad guys make the best good guys.”
Nine years after its original run, “Leverage” is returning (on Amazon’s IMDb TV) with “Leverage: Redemption.” In this continuation series, the Leverage crew has to adjust to the new world order of the rich and powerful, who are even more ruthless — and getting away with even more heinous crimes — than before. Hitter Eliot Spencer (Christian Kane), hacker Alec Hardison (Aldis Hodge), grifter and now also brains Sophie Devereaux (Gina Bellman), and thief Parker (Beth Riesgraf) have all returned for “Leverage: Redemption.

Lily Allen has received an apology from Harry Wilson, the soldier that she reported to the Ministry of Defence over a tweet. After making her complaint, Allen received critical and abusive messages on Twitter, leading to her declaring earlier today (July 12) that she would be leaving the microblogging site temporarily. However, about three hours after she announced her break, she posted: "I have just received some flowers and a hand written apology from Harry Wilson, which I accept. I hope we can all now move on. Thank you." The message which started off the Twitter storm had been a comment on rumours that Allen was in the process of adopting a child, with Wilson writing: "All the best with your new family just seen you bought s**t I mean adopted (more)...

Lily Allen has announced that she is temporarily leaving Twitter following a controversy involving a member of the British Army. Allen this week complained to the Ministry of Defence about a soldier's tweet, leading to an Army spokesperson revealing that the matter would be investigated. Twitter user Harry Wilson, commenting on rumours that Allen was adopting a child, had written: "All the best with your new family just seen you bought s**t I mean adopted a child from Africa." Allen has subsequently been criticised by a number of the microblogging site's users, with attacks focusing on the claim that Allen incorrectly branded the message racist after failing to understand that a comma was intended before the word "s**t" rather than after it. The Twitter message was from a man named Harry Wilson, whose profile stated that he was an Army employee. Commenting on rumours that Allen was adopting a child, he wrote: "All the best with your new family just seen you bought s**t I mean adopted a child from Africa." Allen informed the Ministry of Defence about the tweet, in a message that has now been removed, writing: "Do you condone (these) racist comments? He needs disciplining." Update, 12:31 Pm: The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Yahoo CEO Scott Thompson told the board over the weekend that he has been diagnosed with thyroid cancer. The WSJ says the disclosure might have impacted the company’s decision to accept Thompson’s resignation. The report adds that Thompson began telling colleagues as early as Friday that he was stepping down. Meanwhile, CNNMoney is reporting that Thompson could owe up to $7 million in upfront bonus money he received when he was hired in January. Hedge fund Third Point, which owns 5.8% of Yahoo’s shares, chided CEO Scott Thompson for failing to lay out his strategic plan before he fired about 2,000 employees today. The fund, run by Daniel Loeb, says the fifth major cutback in the last five years was “unfortunately necessary.” But it notes that Yahoo’s board said in September that it planned a “comprehensive strategic review,” while Thompson said in January that he had “some very clear ideas about the specifics of what we’ll do.” To date, though, “shareholders and remaining employees have heard few such specifics.” Meanwhile, many of the company’s “senior-level employees and investors have apparently seen enough and heard too little, and have independently staged an exodus, weighing on the company’s share price.” Loeb says this is a reason for shareholders to support his slate of four directors which, in addition to himself, include corporate restructuring expert Harry Wilson,...

The Internet company made it official this morning: It has started to tell about 2,000 employees that they’re being sacrificed “as part of an overall plan to reshape the Company for the future,” Yahoo says in an SEC filing. Although Yahoo doesn’t know exactly how much this will cost, it estimates that it will take a pre-tax charge of as much as $145M, most of it to be recognized in the current quarter which ends in June. “The pre-tax cash charge estimate does not include facilities, lease or other charges the Company may incur as part of this action,” Yahoo says. Reports about the firings from the 14,000-plus work force have circulated for weeks, and were expected to focus on the products, research and marketing divisions. Yahoo’s effort to make peace with hedge fund Third Point, the company’s staunchest critic and owner of 5.8% of the voting shares, was a bust. The struggling Internet giant hoped to end Third Point’s planned proxy fight by naming three independent directors — including former Discovery COO and Fox Entertainment exec Peter Liguori — and giving the fund a say in the choice of two other directors. Yahoo says that ”there is value in avoiding the cost and distraction that inevitably accompanies a proxy fight.” But Third Point rejected the plan, saying that it shows “one of Yahoo!’s paramount principles of corporate governance is ‘Shareholders not welcome’.” That leaves the fund with “no choice but to take our case directly to our fellow shareholders…Yahoo!’s shareholders deserve a voice and a choice.
