Today's short film is a great sci-fi thriller called "The Final Moments of Karl Brant." The story is set "in the near future where experimental technology allows two detectives to bring a murder victim back to life in a digital state in order to question him about his final moments." It's a really well-made film with an interesting concept. It stars Paul Reubens, a.k.a. Pee-Wee Herman, and was directed by M.Francis Wilson. Check it out!

It only took 100 years, but Actors’ Equity Association is now a direct member of the AFL-CIO. The actors and stage managers’ union received a direct charter from the national labor group today at the AFL-CIO’s executive council meeting in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., becoming the 57th labor organization to receive the honor. “For nearly 100 years, Actors’ Equity has stood for excellence in the American theater, and for dignity, fairness and respect for stage actors and managers,” AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka said in a written statement. “Today Equity has affirmed those values as well as its affiliation with all of American labor, and we are happy to be presenting this great union with a new AFL-CIO charter.” Equity President Nick Wyman added in a written statement, “As actors and stage managers one wouldn’t think of us as union members, but Actors’ Equity Association has a long and proud history...

Charles Dickens won't officially turn 200 until February 7, but the Dickens 2012 extravaganza — festivals, theater, exhibitions, readings and so on — is well underway. And today, the BFI series Dickens on Screen opens at BFI Southbank in London for a run that'll last through February.
"No other novelist has been adapted for the screen so often or to such popular acclaim. Around 400 films and TV series have been made so far," writes Robert Douglas-Fairhurst in the Guardian. "In a famous essay published in 1944, the Soviet director Sergei Eisenstein argued that 'only very thoughtless and presumptuous people' believed in 'some incredible virgin birth' of cinema, and that the film pioneer Dw Griffith found many of his storytelling tricks, including close-ups, dissolves and cutting between parallel narratives, in novels such as Oliver Twist. Griffith admitted as much himself. One of his first films was a 14-minute version of Dickens's The Cricket on the Hearth (1909) that...

Christmas comes but once a year and nobody wants to be the British TV fan that Santa Clause forgot. Therefore, we’ve put together a list of stocking stuffers that you can add to your Christmas wish list.
1. The Ride in Dalek. This one is ideally suited for small kids and people who have no issue with spending $200 on inflatables. It is battery operated with a maximum speed of 3 Km (2 miles) per hour. So you couldn’t make a living as a professional driver racing in one of these. Also, so far it is only available in the UK so you may have to pay a premium to a hawk on E-Bay if you want one shipped to the States but isn’t it worth it?
2. Downton Abbey Season Two DVD or Blu-Ray.
