A girl is warned by her family to not leave their bunker, lest she runs into the monsters that now prowl the Earth. Curiosity has a way of pushing people to explore, however, and what this girl discovers above ground is not at all what she expects in the short film Monsters, which you can watch in its entirety right here on Daily Dead.
"The Twilight Zone… The Outer Limits… Alfred Hitchcock Presents… These stories shocked us, scared us, and forever imbedded themselves into our memories. They were social commentaries and morality tales, disguised as psychological thrillers. But where are these types of stories today?
The truth is, they don’t make them anymore. So we want to tell one of our own.
Monsters is a Twilight Zone style story for the modern world. It seethes with suspense from its first moment, all the way up to its jaw-dropping finale.

Detective Darcy (Kym Jackson) has a violent encounter with the possessed in our exclusive clip from Padraig Reynolds's The Devil's Dolls, coming out in select theaters and on VOD and digital platforms today from IFC Midnight.
"A serial killer’s curse unleashes a season of slaughter in the backwoods of Mississippi. According to an ancient Guatemalan tradition, parents teach their children to allay their troubles by telling them to handmade “worry dolls” just before bedtime. But when several of these talismans—which once belonged to a notorious mass murderer—find their way into the hands of unsuspecting residents of a small Southern town, it sets off a grisly wave of bloodshed. The latest from Rites of Spring director Padraig Reynolds is a voodoo-slasher shocker bursting with scarily inventive kills. Christopher Wiehl, Kym Jackson, and Tina Lifford star.
The Devil's Dolls opens September 16th in select theaters, VOD, and via digital platforms from IFC Midnight.

A serial killer's violent impulses live on through voodoo in The Devil's Dolls, coming out in select theaters and on VOD and digital platforms on September 16th, and we caught up with director Padraig Reynolds in our latest Q&A feature to discuss the making of his southern-set horror movie.
Thanks for taking the time to answer some questions for us, Padraig. What attracted you to the story of The Devil’s Dolls?
Padraig Reynolds: I’m a big fan of voodoo films such as Serpent and the Rainbow and Venom. So when I read The Devil’s Dolls, I thought it would be a great opportunity to do something fresh and exciting in a genre that not too many movies are made about.
Christopher Wiehl co-wrote, produced, and stars in the film. What was it like working with Wiehl, who seemed very invested in the character of Matt?...

It’s been quite some time since I saw Padraig Reynolds’ debut feature Rites of Spring back at Glasgow Frightfest 2012 and since then Reynolds has been pretty silent on the directing front. However, being a huge fan of that film there was no way I was passing up the chance to see yet another slice of Reynolds’ particular style of Southern Gothic.
Much like Rites of Spring mixed genres, taking in crime drama and traditional stalk and slash horror, by way of Southern horror like Jeepers Creepers; Worry Dolls mixes old-school voodoo with the tropes of classic 80s slashers (yes, this is yet Another Frightfest movie to utilise the sterotypes of the slasher genre) in a tale that – like Last Girl Standing...

Katy Perry, who I think has a rather dubious relationship with the gay community, is set to be honored with the Hero Award from The Trevor Project. “Everyone deserves a wonderful, fulfilled life. Our sexual orientation or gender identity doesn’t change the spark and beauty within. I’m honoured that The Trevor Project has selected me to receive the Trevor Hero Award. Their work has inspired me since 2010, and I know they help save lives.”
ABC has given full season orders to shows I don't watch, with Scandal and The Neighbors getting the nod.
Justin Beiber wants to the world to know he's a good boy, a role model. Even though he's hanging out with One Direction and The Wanted, he doesn't drink. I still want people to think I’m a good person, a good influence. I want to be around tomorrow.”
For Halloween, Raising Hope is headed to a gay bar.

Castle is preparing itself for one stressful episode that will focus on divorce, giving the episode a very War of the Roses feel. With all the drama and theatrics that usually surround particularly scandalous divorce proceedings – not to mention the death threats – it would seem like the perfect storm for a murder. The episode, titled “Significant Others,” will require some heavy hitters to pull off so much melodrama, so who better than a few soap opera veterans, well versed in the language of over-the-top-acting, which is exactly what you need to do if you hope to win a judge in your favor so you can get a hold of your former spouse’s priceless collection of Russian nesting dolls.
TVLine reported Nancy Lee Grahn of General Hospital fame would be guest starring in the episode as Samantha Voss, the wealthy, recently divorced woman in a desperate struggle against her ex-husband...
