Kangaroos are so cute, aren’t they? That’s why kangaroo hunters make for such bastard villains. They were bastards in Crocodile Dundee and they were bastards in Wake in Fright, which is a superb film, by the way. However, neither of those films concern kangaroo hunters quite as much as Fair Game, a slick little exploitation film from 1986.
The hunters, of which there are three, have a pretty simple dynamic. Two of them, Sparks (Garry Who) and Ringo (David Sandford), are total morons – man children with a cruel streak, while Sunny (Peter Ford), their leader, looks like an Rm Williams ambassador. He behaves like one too, presenting himself as a fair dinkum bloke. However, he rather spoils that image when he relentlessly antagonises Jessica (Cassandra Delaney), pursuing her through the outback.

"Now they pay the price." Bring it on!! Dark Star Pictures has revealed a brand new US trailer for an 80s Ozploitation classic called Fair Game, which is finally getting a US release for the first time after 36 years. This originally debuted back in 1986, but never showed outside of Australia aside from a few places. It's a revenge action thriller about a young woman who fights back against vicious kangaroo poachers who come after her, kicking their ass in the end because of course she does. The film is said to be one of the films that inspired Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof, along with the car chase film Vanishing Point. Time to watch all three of these as a triple bill! In Fair Game, Cassandra Delaney stars as a woman running an animal sanctuary who gets revenge on a trio of kangaroo hunters that terrorize her. The cast also includes Peter Ford,...

Phantom proves that Kabir Khan is the best action movie director we have. When asked about the challenges of shooting the action sequences in Phantom, he says, “The Film is has been shot all over the world right from Beirut, Canada, Chicago, Punjab and Kashmir.”
Beirut Action sequence: While shooting in Beirut, director Kabir Khan was aware that shooting in these strife-torn locations would be a sensitive matter. The shooting was on a huge refugee camp created on the Syria- Lebanon border which was about half-an-hour’s drive from Lebanon which happens to be a Shia Muslim area. There were about 400 locals dressed as rebel soldiers and a movement of about 25 trucks and jeeps for the sequence. Being a massive set-up it attracted a lot of attention. They used real guns for this entire action sequence. The entire action sequence looked so real, that the army thought a real rebellious movement was going on.

Wow, Geordie Shore got pretty intense this week, didn't it? Not only was there a huge fight (and we mean huge), but there was an awful ending that left us feeling a bit sad to be honest. Of course, it was all as ridiculous as always, too, so read on for 8 outrageous moments from this week...
1. Aaron emptying out his bin of pee.
Yep, Aaron had a big night and peed in the bedroom bin... so of course it was his job to empty it ("It's quarter full!"). But why not have some fun at the same time? So he ran over and wiggled it over Nathan's bed ("It Stinks!") Ah, urine-based japes, our favourite. Given how often Nathan wets his bed, if Aaron had dropped the bucket he probably would have minded, to be honest.
2. Marnie tells Chloe to go for it with Aaron but really means don't go for it with Aaron.

Director: David Gordon Green; Screenwriter: Gary Hawkins; Starring: Nicolas Cage, Tye Sheridan, Gary Poulter, Ronnie Gene Blavins, Adriene Mishler, Brian Mays; Running time: 117 mins; Certificate: 15
Every now and then, between schlocky action thrillers, Nicolas Cage applies the brakes and says enough with the deadpan wisecracks, the schizoid twitching and the mad shark-toothed grin; it's time to do something interesting. Playing a guy called Joe mightn't sound like edge-of-your-seat stuff - indeed, the name implies distinct averageness - but it's the way Cage contains all that fiery energy that makes him a riveting presence in this slow-burning drama.
Throughout, there's a powerful feeling that something hot and sticky is about to hit the fan in the small Southern town where Joe works hard and plays hard - deforesting the landscape by day, drinking and getting his rocks off at the local whorehouse by night. Eco-minded New Age types may find it...

Grand Central
Written by Gaëlle Macé and Rebecca Zlotowski
Directed by Rebecca Zlotowski
France/Austria, 2013
Set against the imposing backdrop of a nuclear power station, Rebecca Zlotowski’s second feature is more a critique of France’s working class macho culture than the exploitative nature of the industry itself. The tremendous cooling towers dominate the screen like malignant remnants of the industrial age, but it is the young men themselves, unskilled, reckless and amoral, that appear to be the problem. Lured by the promise of easy money, they are happy to expose themselves daily to ‘the dose’ of radioactivity but show little respect for the danger this entails or for their fellow workers.
Grand Central focuses on Gary (Tahar Rahim) who, despite having a criminal past and no qualifications, impresses the other men with his casual intelligence, confident attitude and ability to ride a mechanical bull. Plant veterans Gilles (Olivier Gourmet...

Screenwriter John August is perhaps best known for his work with Tim Burton on Big Fish and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as well as Go and erm…Charlies Angels. In 2007 August debuted his first directorial effort at the Sundance film festival. The Nines stars Ryan Reynolds as three different men and also features Melissa McCarthy and Hope Davis as recurring characters in each scenario. On the surface it would be easy to dismiss this as an exercise in pretension but there is much more going on below the surface. I have actually found this film to be something of a comforting spiritual journey and approached with an open mind it’s a very moving experience.
Our first scene shows Ryan Reynolds against a white background, tying something around his wrist, a scene that seemingly means nothing but will come to be very important later on. We then find Reynolds...

It feels like a long time ago that we took a trip to Elstree Studios in North West London. How the weather has changed since then! On a freezing cold day we headed to the world famous George Lucas Stage where the legendary director shot parts of Star Wars to visit the set of the new Edgar Wright movie, The World’s End. Third in the ‘Cornetto Trilogy’, both Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz were hugely successful, both at the box office and with fans, and have become cult classics in their own right. Understandably, those same fans are super excited to see this third feature and are hoping that it lives up to their expectations.
Edgar Wright was joined on the day by his two long-term collaborators Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. As we walked onto the set, we were witness to one of the only pubs...

Another day, another development in the Jenelle Evans saga of life.
According to Radar Online, the Teen Mom 2 star has been granted a restraining order against her ex-fiance Gary Head. Apparently, "he beat the shit out of her" and tried to strangle her with a bed sheet. The fight led to both of their arrests on June 24. "Jenelle is afraid of Gary," a source told ths ite. "She was viciously attacked by him and she is really frightened that he is going to come after her again, that’s why she got the restraining order."
For those of you who don't know, Janelle is currently back with her ex-boyfriend (and hoodie-lover) Kieffer Delp. In between their on-and-off relationship, she was seeing Gary who later proposed to her. But now, she wants nothing to do with him. "She doesn’t ever want to talk to Gary again, she just hopes...

Thank You for Smoking, Juno and Up in the Air; can director Jason Reitman do no wrong? Thanks to his latest feature, Young Adult, I’m inclined to believe so. Still believing she’s the popular girl, Mavis heads home to Mercury, Minnesota to claim what she thinks is rightfully hers, her high school sweetheart Buddy Slade (Patrick Wilson). Infamous "Teen Mom" Amber Portwood went to an Indiana court on Thursday, June 9 to plead guilty to domestic violence charges. The world watched last September as she slapped and kicked Gary Shirley, father of her baby, right in front of the child.
Soon after the episode aired, MTV was forced to give up the footage for further investigation. Amber was then charged with two felony domestic battery charges which could keep her behind the bars for three years or cost her $10,000 fine. But result from the court session on Thursday was far from prison or money.
Entering a plea that kept her off jail, she is put on two years probation by the Indiana judge who also ordered that she undergoes 30 days of inpatient therapy. Amber is also to obtain her high school diploma and put $10,000 in a college fund for her 2-year-old daughter.

Actor and comedian Ed Helms hosted "Saturday Night Live" this week and he brought along a few friends, namely: Jon Hamm, Jimmy Fallon, Stephen Colbert, and Steve Carell for a live-action version of "The Ambiguously Gay Duo." For longtime fans of "SNL," the return of the innuendo-addled superhero cartoon alone was exciting. Robert Smigel's "The Ambiguously Gay Duo" short used to make regular appearance on "SNL", but then the actors who provided the voices for Ace and Gary -- Steve Carell and Stephen Colbert -- got a little busy with their own super careers. Luckily for fans, Carell and Colbert were both able to make time to play super villains alongside Helms (and a lizard masked Fred Armisen) in a live-action version of the cartoon, with Jon Hamm and Jimmy Fallon filling in as Ace and Gary who are brought to life via a Flesh Ray. The list of "The Muppets" movie's cameo appearances might soon outnumber the list of actual Muppets in the film. The Hollywood Reporter has the scoop that Emily Blunt and Ricky Gervais are the latest celebrities to sign on to the film, though their roles are being kept under wraps. Sounds like the Muppets might be going on a trip across the pond.

The film stars Jason Segel as a human named Gary who is best friends with an iPhone-loving Muppet who might be voiced by Paul Rudd. Gary must rally the Muppets and their friends to put on a benefit show to save their movie studio from the evil Tex Richman...

A pre-taped episode of MTV's "Teen Mom" has led to a police investigation when officers were tipped to watch the episode on Tuesday, September 28. Amber Portwood is accused of domestic violence against her ex-fiance and father to her baby, Gary Shirley. She was seen kicking and punching Gary in the episode, all while the camera was rolling.
"We assigned an officer to it this afternoon," Lt. Paul Boulware of the Anderson Police Department said on Wednesday. Calling it a unique case, the lieutenant said, "It's a new way of receiving information. It's like a 911 call through reality TV."
MTV still remains mum about the incident and the network never reported it to police. Boulware noted that those who fail to report a crime can face criminal charges as well, depending "on what kind of crime it is."

Though Gary Coleman has not been laid to rest yet, unpleasant pictures of him when he was ailing in the hospital are being shopped around to the media, TMZ reported. And among those pictures, one even shows Gary already dead.
The site further reported that in one shot, Gary is seen having his eyes closed and the late actor is hooked up to a ventilation machine. The person selling the photos claims to have four photos and one of the pictures was taken about an hour before Gary died.
Gary's final photo, meanwhile, was taken after the "Diff'rent Strokes" actor was taken off life support. The site disclosed that asking price is in the low five figures.

This can be anything from a breakdown/analysis of what is happening on one of my favorite shows to my take over-all on the direction I see something taking, whatever that thing may in fact be. I toil over this portion because I, unlike many of my print oriented (and some web based) piers, don’t receive early reviewer copies of any of the shows. It can be a bit of an uphill battle but at times I get struck in the head with a bit of an idea that I’m able to run with and I walk away happy. This isn’t one of those weeks.

Finally, filmmaker Trent Harris has made available his complete underground cult classic The Beaver Kid, the first part of his mind-blowing Beaver Trilogy. It’s been uploaded to YouTube in 3 parts, which you can just let the above run through all three. Witness the amazement and wonder that is the late, the great, the beloved Groovin’ Gary who loves his little town of Beaver, Utah so much that he’s willing to bare his soul and dress up like Olivia Newton John in a local talent show he’s organized.

(But who can also forget the Kessler sisters, Kristy...

Bow Wow and Forest Whitaker have both said they're upset about the way the straight-to-dvd film, "Hurricane Season," also featuring Lil Wayne, was handled.
Shot in New Orleans in 2008, the movie focused on a local high school basketball team shortly after Hurricane Katrina. The picture, also featuring Isaiah Washington, Taraji P. Henson, Courtney B. Vance and Jackie Long, had a strong initial buzz, and the song Lil Wayne performed at the 2009 Grammy Awards, "Tie My Hands," was slated to be featured in the drama.
"My character's name is Lamont," Lil Wayne explained while sitting on the set in the middle of a gymnasium back in 2008. "The character is, I would say, a hustler. He goes to the school. He always bets against the school. He's trying to make the best bet.

The harried travelers made their way from sweaty Vietnam to sticky Cambodia on this week’s Amazing Race 15. While most racers are getting the hang of things, one team realized they broke the series’ cardinal rule after placing first. — Carrie Bell 1. If you can’t pronounce the next destination, come up with a funny alternative. As teams read the leg’s first clue about heading for Phnom Penh, Cambodia, there were as meaning pronunciations as there were duos. Our favorite came courtesy of Team Special who decided they were destined for Sean Penn, Cambodia. 2. Never stop pestering ticketing agents. Team Special and the Almost-Marrieds were the last to arrive at the airport and were not able to secure seats on the same plane as the rest of the group. Knowing an almost two-hour difference in takeoff times would seal their fates, they begged to get on the first flight. Never...
