Joel Kinnaman has promised that DC Comics film Suicide Squad will be a complex exploration of heroism.
Kinnaman confirmed this week that he will join director David Ayer's super-villain team-up film, along with Will Smith, Jared Leto and Margot Robbie.
The actor has been widely tipped to be replacing Tom Hardy as Rick Flag Jr, who leads a team of super-villains on a government-mandated mission of redemption.
Earlier this week, Kinnaman told Screen Rant that he has been very impressed with director Ayer's vision for the comic book adaptation.
"I love the script. It's super entertaining and David Ayer is a really interesting director," he explained. "You know there's a lot of flashy directors who are good with the camera.
"When you get people who are from another aspect of filmmaking into a director's role, you're always very happy if it's a writer or an editor, because those are the storytellers,...

Joel Kinnaman has confirmed that he has been cast in the DC Comics adaptation Suicide Squad.
Director David Ayer's movie gathers notorious super-villains Deadshot (Will Smith), Boomerang (Jai Courtney) and Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) for a government-mandated mission of redemption.
Kinnaman had been rumoured to be in contention - along with Jon Bernthal and Joel Edgerton - to play Suicide Squad leader Rick Flag, following Tom Hardy's departure from the project.
The RoboCop actor stopped short of revealing that he will play Rick Flag in an interview with Allocine, but did confirm that he is joining the movie.
"All I can say is that I will be in the movie, and it's going to be amazing," he hinted.

In the season finale, Beauty and the Beast converges with the past in order to bring fans a bittersweet ending to an exciting (and awkwardly drawn out) second season. With the stakes at an all-time high, Cat (Kristin Kreuk) and Vincent (Jay Ryan) risk it all to take Gabe (Sendhil Ramamathury) down – and things end more or less as fans may have predicted, with a slight twist.
The journal that Cat recently came into possession of, which formerly belonged to her ancestor Rebecca Reynolds (also Kreuk), came alive for a few scenes. It was nice to take a break from modern day New York City and revisit a piece of Cat’s history, but there was nothing compelling enough to make it a habit. History was clearly repeating itself in the most uncanny way. Cat’s ancestor found herself in a stunningly similar situation over a hundred years ago, in...

It’s been a long wait, but fan favorite Beauty and the Beast is finally back. After a lengthy (abrupt) hiatus that left viewers holding their breath waiting for answers both on and off the screen, The CW has not only brought the show back to finish off its sophomore season, but has also announced that Batb has been renewed for what looks like a shortened third (and possibly final) season. This might not have been the victory fans were looking for, but it’s at least a move in the right direction.
The writers left us with a pretty substantial cliff hanger before going off the air for close to three months – who was responsible for Vincent’s arrest? Social media was full of speculation, and I opted strongly for the theory that Gabe (Sendhil Ramamurthy) was behind Vincent’s bad luck. It looks like we were all wrong,...

A family reunion in jail? Less than ideal! But that's exactly what Catherine (Kristin Kreuk) will be doing in tonight's episode of Beauty and the Beast when she is forced to confront her imprisoned (biological) father, Robert Reynolds (Ted Whittall). Can you say awkward?! "The last thing I ever wanted to do was hurt you," Robert tells Catherine, but she's not having any of it as she's there for information on Muirfield, which her father just so happens to have. Yes, Robert drops a pretty shocking revelation about the company in our exclusive sneak peek at "Redemption"... But more shocking than the new information he drops about Muirfield's experiments on beasts?...

Beauty and the Beast has given us a delightful cliffhanger treat heading into the holiday hiatus. And I’m not talking about airing in the middle of the night for those located anywhere in the Chicago-land area (possibly elsewhere).
So far this season has done an excellent job of creating a looming debate among fans. It’s not quite the elephant in the room, since even Cat (Kristen Kreuk) is willing to admit it, but it’s not exactly public service announcement material either – until now. Is Vincent (Jay Ryan) ultimately losing his humanity?
It’s a great question, and is definitely propelling the plot forward, but I wish they would come up with another term for what’s occurring. For fans of Beauty and the Beast who also follow the happenings on The Vampire Diaries, then you have already been hit over the head with the concept.
Despite the unfavorable choice of key words,...

[Warning: The following story contains spoilers from Monday's episode of Beauty and the Beast. Read at your own risk.]
How do you recover from shooting the love of your life? Beauty and the Beast's Catherine Chandler will soon have to find out.
On Monday's midseason finale, Cat (KristinKreuk) had to make a tough choice: watch a beastly Vincent (Jay Ryan) kill her father (Ted Whittal) or shoot Vincent to save him. Cat ultimately chose the latter.
In the closing moments of the episode, Cat — who still ultimately put her dad in jail —was being consoled by Gabe (Sendhil Ramamurthy) while a shirtless Vincent was seen cleaning his wound as Tori (Amber Skye Noyes) walked in on him. So, where does this leave the couple? Is there hope for reconciliation, or will Cat and Vincent both seek love in other places? Executive producer Brad Kern shared what's to come with a select group of reporters below.

Will Catherine take down her own father in order to save Vincent?
In the final moments of the fall's penultimate episode, Vincent (Jay Ryan) went to save Tori (Amber Skye Noyes) who was set up by Cat's father, Detective Reynolds (Ted Whittal), after he became aware she was a beast. With Tori tied up and a bomb by her side, viewers were left wondering what happened when the explosion went off. (Spoiler alert! We have it on good authority both survived.)
Beauty and the Beast's Amber Skye Noyes: Tori and Vincent have a bond that Cat can't share
On Monday's midseason finale (9/8c, CW), Catherine will have to decide if she'll help Gabe (Sendhil Ramamurthy) get Reynolds behind bars for all he's done. She'll also come to terms with Vincent's beastly side overpowering his humanity and whether or not she's willing to sacrifice everything for the sake of their love.

Thanksgiving came a week early on Beauty and the Beast, and although there were friends and family involved, it wasn’t much of a celebration.
I’ve always had my doubts about Agent Reynolds (Ted Whittall), but there was something increasingly disturbing about his character on this episode of Beauty and the Beast. Besides trying to kill Vincent (Jay Ryan), which we already knew was probably in the cards, he used Cat’s (Kristin Kreuk) own insecurities when it comes to family to his advantage. Even though she only came to dinner under the auspices of gaining information to further Vincent along in his quest to sever ties with his handler, and whatever covert government agency he works for, I think it’s fair to say that she was hoping that Reynolds would prove to be something of the father she loved and lost.

"Beauty and the Beast" has a new and complicated antagonist this season -- FBI Special Agent Bob Reynolds, aka Catherine's biological father. Add in the fact that Reynolds also happens to be Vincent's handler in a quest to kill beasts, and it gets complicated quickly.
Find out more about Reynolds in this interview with actor Ted Whittall.
Rumors are that Reynolds is going to spend Thanksgiving with Catherine -- and possibly the rest of the "Beast" gang. How does that happen?
Ted Whittall: I think Reynolds wanted to spend Thanksgiving with his daughter but Cat kind of springs Vincent on him. It's hard to describe without giving it all away. But circumstances kind of conspire to get everybody involved into Reynolds' house for Thanksgiving. Reynolds kind of wants it to happen that way, because everything is starting to spin out of control and it's easier for him to get...

Although it seems that fans of Beauty and the Beast are still torn over how they feel about the new Vincent, one thing is for sure, there’s something awfully romantic about watching him fall in love with Catherine all over again, right?
Vincent (Jay Ryan) is slowly regaining his memory, which isn’t something that should really come as a huge surprise to anyone, but what you might not have counted on was for it to happen so fast, or easily. To be honest, it’s hard to completely understand the thought process behind making such a drastic change, if six episodes later the plan was to just revert back to essentially what we had prior to the revamp. Beauty and the Beast is hitting the reset button with a revamped beast, a new mythology and a brand new love story.
At the end of the CW series' first season, the future for Vincent (Jay Ryan) and Catherine (Kristin Kreuk) looked bleak, as Vincent was captured by a man the audience soon learned was Cat's biological father (played by Ted Whittall). When Season 2 premieres, there will be more noticeable changes than just the three-month time-jump that begins with Cat still frantically searching for her love. Gone is the procedural "case of the week" aspect of the show, gone is the signature scar on Vincent's face and — most drastically — gone is Vincent's memory of his recent life.

The last time we checked in with The CW’s hit show Beauty and the Beast, things had went from hopeless to worse in a very short amount of time.
Catherine (Kristen Kreuk) managed to rescue her boyfriend/genetically-altered super soldier, Vincent (Jay Ryan), from the crazed district attorney just in time to lose him again when men dressed in ominous black gear airlifted him off to parts unknown.
Season 1 left us in shock, standing right beside Cat on that rooftop, when we discovered that the man calling the shots behind Vincent’s abduction was actually Cat’s biological father.
A few episodes before we were teased with the possibility of her mother still being alive, and finding out that her father isn’t really her father was quite a way to end the freshman season!
The secret’s not out of the bag just yet, but it’s sure...

The scene opens in the desert with Lois (Erica Durance) arriving in Egypt. Her dream assignment is going down the plughole fast. She picks up a manuscript with two Egyptian gods and Carter Hall (Michael Shanks) calls them star-crossed lovers. Plenty of references to those in this episode, what with Clark (Tom Welling) and Lois, Chloe (Allison Mack) and Oliver (Justin Hartley), as well as Carter and his wife, Shayera. (Which was about as close as you could get to Daniel Jackson's wife's name in Stargate SG1! - Sha're.) He comments, "guess you never know what fate has planned for you." The star-crossed lovers being an allusion towards Clark and Lois and he's here not only to keep an eye on her but ensure they do get together; or at least they can in the future. The opening shots of “Daydream Nation” set the tone for the confusion of the rest of the film, with warm-colored panning shots of fields, children playing, etc., and the protagonist Caroline Wexler (Kat Dennings) starting her almost ceaseless, cynical narrative — leaving viewers mildly perplexed.
The story follows 17-year-old Caroline during her transition to life in a small town with her recently widowed father (Ted Whittall). What sets this boring little town apart from others is the consistent chemical fire that burns on the outskirts and the current mystery serial killer who has been plucking younger girls as his prey — though even these characteristics don’t add much zest. But luckily Caroline knows how to make her own fun, immediately swooping in and seducing her English teacher, Barry Anderson (Josh Lucas), whom she...

Director: Michael Goldbach Writer: Michael Goldbach Starring: Kat Dennings, Josh Lucas, Reece Thompson, Andie MacDowell, Rachel Blanchard The year this story takes place is the year that nearly everything happened to 17-year-old Caroline Wexler (Kat Dennings) -- or at least that is how Caroline's narration introduces Daydream Nation. Caroline's widowed father (Ted Whittall) has relocated them from a big city to bumble fuck suburbia, a town purportedly with more incest than an Atom Egoyan film...and a white-suited psycho killer (Qu'est-ce que c'est?) is on the loose. Caroline immediately realizes that she is mentally superior to the drugged-out lowlifes in her new high school, so she opts to pursue the one male who she considers to be her intellectual equal, her 30-something English teacher, Barry (Josh Lucas). As a disguise for their tawdry affair, Caroline simultaneously develops a relationship with a sweet and awkward -- but also troubled -- classmate,...

Now that Clark (Tom Welling) has shared his secret with Lois (Erica Durance), their relationship is stronger than ever. But on the Friday, Nov. 5 episode of "Smallville," someone will try to come between them... and that someone is Lois's father.
General Lane (Michael Ironside) and Lois's sister, Lucy (Peyton List) drop in on the happy couple for a surprise Thanksgiving visit. Unfortunately, the General isn't quite as impressed with Clark as Lois is. "You live in your mother's house and you work in a basement, is that correct?" he asks. "What exactly do you do with your time, Clark?"
Of course, Clark can't exactly share his extracurricular activities with Lois's family -- especially because General Lane is leading the anti-superhero movement, working to pass a vigilante registration law. WIll Clark make it through the General's interrogation? And, more importantly, will the General survive his visit to the Kent farm? His...

In this next episode, the General (guest star Michael Ironside) and Lucy Lane (Peyton List) decide to drop in on Lois (Erica Durance) and Clark (Tom Welling) for a surprise Thanksgiving dinner. Clark and the General get off to a rocky start after Lois' father bashes the superheroes and tells Clark he is trying to pass a vigilante registration law. Meanwhile, in an effort to stop the vigilante registration act from being passed, Rick Flagg (guest star Ted Whittall) lies to Lucy in order to lure Clark away from the farm long enough for him to assassinate the General. Lois is torn between making her father proud and her love for Clark.

['Smallville' - 'Shield']
It looked as if 'Smallville' was speeding straight back to standalone story territory this week after last Friday's dark season premiere, but 'Shield' had a lot more to offer than the average "Clark vs. the freak-of-the-week" plot.
First off, the episode delivered an iconic villain with DC Comics baddie Deadshot/Floyd Lawton (Bradley Stryker). Deadshot wasn't the only comic book character who leaped from the funnypages and onto the screen this week. We also got a visit from conservative cutie Cat Grant (Keri Lynn Pratt) and saw the return of Carter Hall/Hawkman (Michael Shanks), Rick Flag (Ted Whittal) and Bette/Plastique (Jessica Parker Kennedy).

So, yes. The good news is that Robert Englund, ever-famous for his portrayal of Freddy Krueger in A Nightmare on Elm Street will appear on Chuck as Dr. Stanley Wheelwright, "an evil scientist who can make your waking life a nightmare." Hardy...har...har.
The bad news is these, among other casting moves, will eventually reach a breaking point that trades honest storytelling among our favorite shows for celebrity appearances. We're all for the Geek Casting of Chuck, or even the DC Adaptations of Smallville, but when seen as a whole, won't the actual episodes get completely overshadowed?
Let's review. Announced thus far:
Chuck: Dolph Lundgren, Linda Hamilton, Olivia Munn, Lou Ferrigno, Karolina Kurkova, Bronson Pinchot, Isaiah Mustafa, Stacy Keibler, Nicole Richie, 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin, Armand Assante, Batista, Eric Roberts, Joel David Moore, Timothy Dalton, and Robert Englund.
