Sophia Bush's Surveillance is not moving forward at CBS.
The pilot was apparently a hit in early testing, according to Variety, but it was apparently not a good fit for the Eye network.
The proposed series would have centered on the head of communications for the Nsa, a charming operative who finds her loyalties torn between protecting the government’s secrets and her own.
In addition to Bush, the pilot's cast included Allen Leech, Dennis Haysbert, Raphael Acloque, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Matthew Modine, Nick Blood, Spencer Moss, Tina Huang, Judith Scott, Brian Markinson, and Catherine Curtin.

David C. White, who wrote the pilot, confirmed the sad news on Twitter over the weekend.
“Super bummed Surveillance won’t be going forward, but what an incredible experience it has been working with all of these amazing people,” he wrote.
“My girl @SophiaBush is the Queen.

Sophia Bush will not return to law enforcement after all: CBS has officially passed on the Chicago P.D. alumna’s drama pilot Surveillance, which was in contention for the 2019-2020 TV season.
Surveillance tested “through the roof,” according to Variety, but the end product was not seen as a good fit for the network. The would-be spy thriller centered on Bush’s Maddy, the head of communications for the Nsa, who was torn between protecting the government’s secrets and her own. CBS is officially not moving forward with “Surveillance,” a much-buzzed-about spy drama pilot starring Sophia Bush.
Sources had previously told Variety that the show had support within the network, but that it was not seen as a good fit for CBS. The drama had tested “through the roof,” they said.
The series is described as a “complex and timely spy thriller (about) the head of communications for the Nsa (Bush), a charming operative who finds her loyalties torn between protecting the government’s secrets and her own.”
The pilot, penned by David C. White, was produced by CBS Television Studios, 20th Century Fox Television and 6th and Idaho, and also starred Raphael Acloque, Dennis Haysbert, Allen Leech, Matthew Modine and Catalina Sandino Moreno. Russell Ackerman, Matt Reeves, John Schoenfelder and director Patricia Riggen were listed as executive producers.

The Writers Guild of America has just announced the nominations for their annual awards for Best Screenplays (by writers who are guild signatories). That’s right, before you get nervous thinking that your favorite may have been left off the list, you must remember that the WGA is the group that is not all-inclusive and leaves out several of the top contenders each year due to them not being part of the guild or not following their very specific rules. For this reason, you won’t see Inside Out, The Hateful Eight, and Ex Machina in the Original Screenplay category or Room, Brooklyn, or Anomalisa in the Adapted screenplay category.
Taking a look at what’s left over for the nominations, we find many that were expected to make a showing, including Spotlight and Bridge of Spies for Original Screenplay, though they apparently had to sink to really low depths...

History is making another addition to its original programming with an order for a new miniseries, Sons of Liberty. Hot off the continued success of Vikings, and the critical acclaim of other miniseries efforts (like The Bible and Hatfields & McCoys), the network now aims at what looks like a pretty interesting take on the lives of the biggest names of the American Revolution.
It seems as though we’re going for a “no really, they were just actual people,” approach to things, apparently trying to show that these were real men, with real lives and real problems, who threw themselves into something, probably far beyond their expectations. That could be a story worth telling, and there are some great cast members involved. Some audiences may have to be convinced that Ryan Eggold can get them to like him after he so recently got them to hate him on The Blacklist,...
