1975 Tony Award winner for his new libretto for the 1974 revival of Leonard Bernstein's musical, "Candide". Wheeler's script, more faithful to Voltaire's original novel and more directly humorous than Lillian Hellman's original libretto, helped "Candide" to finally become a smash hit on Broadway, and eventually replaced the Hellman script as the official version. moreSTARmeter:
