Marilyn Manson has announced his first run of tour dates since several women made allegations of sexual abuse against him in the past few years. The singer, whose real name is Brian Warner, will support the metal group Five Finger Death Punch in amphitheaters and arenas in August and September.
Warner did not comment on the tour other than social media posts saying it was happening. He has not yet announced a lineup for his supporting band. (Neither Warner’s lawyer nor a rep for Five Finger Death Punch immediately returned a request for comment.

Marilyn Manson’s penalty for pursuing failed defamation and emotional distress allegations against Westworld actress Evan Rachel Wood and artist Illma Gore has ballooned to nearly half a million dollars.
The hefty legal tab first hit six figures back on Jan. 29, when a Los Angeles judge ordered Manson, whose legal name is Brian Warner, to pay $326,956 for the fees Wood racked up defending against the claims struck last May from Warner’s still-pending lawsuit against the two women. On Thursday, the same judge ordered Warner to pay an additional $169,408 to compensate Gore’s lawyers,...

The BBC is celebrating the art of the literary adaptation by screening a variety of classics on BBC Four. More details here.

It has now put together a season of 14 adaptations from the BBC archive, some of which have rarely been seen since their original broadcast.
The dramas are:
The Great Gatsby
Toby Stephens, Mira Sorvino and Paul Rudd lead the cast in this 2000 BBC adaptation of F Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel on the American dream in the jazz age.
Small Island
Naomie Harris, Ruth Wilson, David Oyelowo, Benedict Cumberbatch and Ashley Walters star in this 2009 TV version of Andrea Levy’s novel focusing on the lives and...

It’s rare for a hit TV show to end quite as definitively as Top Boy. The London-set crime drama finished in September 2023 with a full stop instead of a comma. After five acclaimed series (two on its original Channel 4 home before cancellation and three after its Drake-assisted revival on Netflix) the series came to a close, and fans had to wave goodbye to the Summerhouse Estate.
But not for too long. Soon after the final series concluded, Top Boy creator Ronan Bennett published a tie-in novel Jaq: A Top Boy Story, which is out now in paperback. It’s the story of the Summerhouse gang as told from the perspective of one of its lieutenants who climbed the ranks all the way to a major confrontation with the gang leaders – Jaq, as played by Jasmine Jobson.

A judge has ordered that Marilyn Manson must pay Evan Rachel Wood‘s legal fees for her defense against his defamation lawsuit against her — the bulk of which was previously tossed out.
Manson will foot the $326,956 bill for Wood’s defense against the defamation and emotional distress claims that were struck from his lawsuit last year. The order came down from Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Teresa A. Beaudet at a hearing on Monday (January 29th), as reported by Rolling Stone.
The same judge dismissed much of the case last May. Manson’s defamation suit followed the actress’ claims of abuse during the one-time couple’s relationship from 2007 to 2010 — claims that were protected by the First Amendment and California’s anti-slapp law and its protections on individual free speech, according to the judge.
Judge Beaudet did trim off $60k from Wood’s reimbursement claims, stating that some descriptions for billed hours were too “vague.

Top Boy creator Ronan Bennett is in talks with Netflix over a potential spin-off.
Speaking to the BBC’s Nihal Arthanayake in the past hour, Bennett said the spin-off would focus on the character of Jaq Lawrence, who is played by Jasmine Jobson.
He said he is in conversation with Netflix and production company Cowboy, and that EP Drake is on board.
“We are talking to Netflix about a spin-off, which will be around Jaq,” he said.
Bennett joked that Netflix will “probably be angry with me for mentioning it” and said “I’ve learned through bitter experience not to talk too much about shows that are in the future.”
“You just never know if they’re going to get made,” he added. “And in fact, most shows that are developed actually don’t get made. You can write the script and, for whatever reason, they don’t get made.

Marilyn Manson‘s former assistant, Ashley Walters, won an appeal that would bring back a dismissed sexual assault lawsuit she brought against the singer in 2021.
A tribunal with California’s Second Appellate District sided with Walters and reversed a lower court ruling, ordering that the case be sent back to the judge for trial.
According to the court filings, Walters declared that Manson had forced her hand into his underpants. She alleges that he also whipped her, pushed her into a wall and made her stay awake for 48 hours straight.
The filings claim that Manson offered Walters up sexually to associates and friends. He even instructed her to stand on a chair for 12 hours and fed her cocaine so that she would not fall asleep.
There are more accusations mentioned in the filings in addition to these.
Walters claims that Manson often relied on threatening behavior, including blackmail, to keep her quiet.

A California appeals court has revived a sexual assault lawsuit against Marilyn Manson involving his former assistant Ashley Walters.
On Wednesday (December 13th), California’s Second Appellate District ruled that Walters — Manson’s assistant from 2010 to 2011 — can sue the musician for sexual assault, overturning an earlier decision that stated Walters waited to long to file the initial lawsuit.
A lower court ruled last year that Walters’ case was barred by the statute of limitations, which requires the case to be filed within two years. However, the appeals court ruled that the case was still viable under California’s “Delayed Discovery” rule, which accounts for suppressed memories due to trauma. The judge of the original hearing had previously said there were not “sufficient facts” to invoke the Delayed Discovery rule.
Walters’ lawsuit claims that she was subjected her to “sexual exploitation, manipulation and psychological abuse” by Manson while she worked as his personal assistant.

Fans of British TV ate well in 2023. The year said goodbye to some excellent British TV shows with the finales of extraordinary crime dramas Happy Valley, Top Boy, Guilt and Endeavour – four very different shows set in four very different places. We waved off comedies Sex Education and Ghosts, and welcomed back some exciting returns in the form of Black Mirror, Good Omens and of course, Doctor Who.
And then there were the new additions – superhero comedy Extraordinary, police newbie drama Blue Lights, mind-bending comic book adaptation Bodies and chilling true crime series The Sixth Commandment.
It’s hard to separate the pack, but using a complex system of pulleys and levers, a gunge machine and – unfortunately necessary for the person who nominated The Idol – an oubliette, Den of Geek polled its writers and drew up two lists of the best TV of the year, one for American shows and...

The former assistant who claims Marilyn Manson sexually assaulted her, whipped her and threw her against a wall during a drug-induced rage won a critical appeal ruling Wednesday that revives her previously dismissed lawsuit against the shock rocker.
Ashley Walters initially sued Manson, whose legal name is Brian Warner, with claims of sexual assault, sexual harassment, and sex discrimination in May 2021. She argued that while the alleged abuse took place during a “horrific” year of employment that ended in 2011, the typical two-year statute of limitations didn’t apply because she...

Marilyn Manson and a woman who sued the singer for rape have reached a settlement before it could go to trial next week. Adam Wolf, the attorney for the woman who filed as a Jane Doe, filed a notice of settlement with the Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles, on Wednesday. The lawyer will submit a request to dismiss the case within 45 days.
Doe’s suit, filed in 2021, alleged that the singer, whose real name is Brian Warner, raped her and deprived her of food, sleep, and a sense of safety.

The star of Netflix hit drama Top Boy, which is now airing its fifth and final series, says he would have preferred the show to have been written by a Black writer, rather than a white industry veteran.
Ashley Walters told The Times of London of the script penned by 67-year-old Irish novelist Ronan Bennett: “It would have been ideal for black people’s stories to have been told by a black person. So I did scrutinize Ronan. But understanding the people he consulted for the script was key.”
Walters added that he thinks, were the show to be made now in 2023, the focus on ‘lived experience’ would have made for a different outcome. “That may not be great for Ronan, but it’s huge for people like me,” he says. “I was one of the few Black actors allowed on TV before this wave of diversity, so seeing...

Warning: contains major plot spoilers for Top Boy’s final season.
We hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Dushane and Sully’s reign over Summerhouse has officially come to an end, and there definitely won’t be any reboots this time.
The final season of Top Boy has arrived on Netflix, and while it’s bittersweet because it’s goodbye, the ending did not disappoint. As expected, the six-episode season was full of betrayal, guns and murder. Viewers saw the deaths of fan-favourite characters such as Kieron (Joshua Blisset), Lauryn (Saffron Hocking) and even top boys Dushane (Ashley Walters) and Sully (Kane Robinson).
This season also told the story of Stefan (Araloyin Oshunremi), who fought with the decision to get revenge on Sully for killing Jamie (Michael Ward), and of Jaq (Jasmine Jobson) who struggled with the guilt of dealing drugs.

It’s still wild to think that we have Drake to thank for the revival of Top Boy, Ronan Bennett’s engrossing crime saga that draws to a close on September 7. Like so many of us, the Grammy-winning rapper got caught up in a show, only to find out it had been canceled — in this case, Channel 4 dropped Top Boy, which starred Ashley Walters and Kane Robinson, in 2014 after two four-episode seasons. But, unlike the vast majority of the TV-viewing public, Drake had the influence to set a revival in motion, bringing back many original cast members and drawing a slew of new talents like Micheal Ward and Simbiatu Ajikawo (aka Little Simz).

It all comes down to this. The final season of Netflix's "Top Boy" is just days away. After more than 10 years, the streamer will be airing the final season, and it's bound to be an intense one.
For the uninitiated, the show follows drug dealers Sully (Kane Robinson) and Dushane (Ashley Walters) as they navigate a scene of gang violence in Hackney, East London. The show first aired on the UK's Channel 4 in 2011 before being canceled. Drake then revived the show in 2017, with the help of Netflix, of course.
In the previous seasons, we've seen Sully and Dushane work together to run a drug empire and turn rivals. From turf wars to prison breakouts, there's never been a dull moment, mostly because no character can be fully trusted. There have been some iconic scenes, from the comedic to the downright shocking. Curtis's (Howard Charles) most evil moments rival any TV villain,...

The streaming giant has over 7,000 titles on its UK version alone, so you can be forgiven for feeling a bit overwhelmed by it all, and its recent tendency to cancel beloved Netflix Originals – some would say too soon – can leave you wondering where best to commit your time.

A woman who accused Marilyn Manson of sexual assault has officially retracted her claims, saying fellow accuser Evan Rachel Wood “manipulated” her into implicating the artist.
Model Ashley Morgan Smithline first accused Manson — born Brian Warner — of assault in a People cover story, which detailed numerous instances of graphic abuse throughout the couple’s two-year relationship. The report came after Wood, another ex of Manson’s, came forward with her own harrowing experience with the singer, prompting over 10 more women to do the same.
Now, however, Smithline — via a statement filed by Manson’s lawyers — says the abuse never happened, and that she “succumbed to pressure from Evan Rachel Wood and her associates to make accusations of rape and assault against Mr. Warner that were not true.”

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael L. He dismissed the case “with prejudice,” meaning Manson can’t be sued again over the same allegations.

Don’t be misled by the title, said our reviewer, this Sky Original is no clichéd cockney geezer-pleaser. It’s a stunning, complex drama with an excellent cast, thrilling action and ambitious scope, and one of the very best shows to come out of the UK in recent years. It’s also extremely violent, so those of a sensitive disposition, consider yourself warned.
