- Designed the cover for the 1966 Beatles album "Revolver".
- German by birth; was attending art college in Hamburg when the Beatles were playing in clubs along the Reeperbahn, and met them there.
- Learned to play bass guitar, and followed the Beatles back to England, becoming first a member of Paddy, Klaus & Gibson, and then Manfred Mann. Later played bass on solo albums by longtime friends George Harrison and John Lennon, including Lennon's historic "Imagine".
- Dated artist/photographer Astrid Kirchherr; lost her to Beatles then-bassist Stuart Sutcliffe, but they remained friends. Voormann helped Sutcliffe to resume his art studies in Hamburg, which he'd virtually given up to be in the group.
- In the early 1980s, he managed and produced Trio (the German New Wave band best known known for their hit "Da Da Da.)"
- Is portrayed by Kai Wiesinger in Backbeat (1994).
- Appears on the Ringo Starr album "Ringo" , the only Beatles solo album to feature all four Beatles. Klaus also illustrated the accompanying libretto.
