The unholy union of rock music and horror is alive and well in Art of a Hit, a psychological horror movie set to begin production soon according to Deadline.
Formerly titled Excelsis, Art of a Hit is set in 2003 and “follows a bygone rock band as they journey to a 1000-year-old French chateau to record with a reclusive super-producer in hopes of rebooting their career. But as tensions rise and tempers flare, they realize they are up against more than just the pressure to succeed.”
Deadline reports that “Indie rock pioneer Adam Lasus is music directing the ’90s alternative-heavy soundtrack alongside music supervisor Linda Cohen (Licorice Pizza).”
That exciting tidbit not only highlights that music will be prominent to this rock horror story, but it’s 2003 eschews the conventional ’80s hair metal movement frequently explored in this niche subgenre. I suppose the real question at this point is just how...

Critics are praising “Avatar: The Way of Water” after its London World Premiere, with many celebrating its visual effects and its emotional payoff and calling it a return to form for director James Cameron.
Digital Spy’s Ian Sandwell wrote that the long-in-the-making sequel is “unsurprisingly” a “visual masterpiece with rich use of 3D and breathtaking vistas,” though he calls the story thin with too many characters. “James Cameron pulls it together for an extraordinary final act full of emotion and thrilling action,” he added.
“Never bet against @JimCameron,” CinemaBlend’s Sean O’Connell wrote. “His #AvatarTheWayOfWater surpasses the original on every level. Incredible visuals, but a much more emotional connection to the characters and story. The final hour is Cameron flexing every muscle, reminding blockbuster filmmakers how it’s done.”

1992's "Unforgiven" often finds itself ranked highly on many best Western films of all time lists. Directed by and starring Clint Eastwood and set in the 1880s, the film follows William Munny (Eastwood), a retired gunslinger-turned-widowed father and farmer. He takes one final job to collect a bounty on the deaths of two unscrupulous cowboys placed on them by a group of sex workers after the men sliced up one their faces. The film, along with 1990's "Dances with Wolves," helped breathe new life into a genre that had practically been declared dead. It won Eastwood his first Oscars in his nearly 40-year movie career at the time, picking up the awards for Best Picture (just the third Western to do so), and for Best Director.

Hollywood screenwriter Guy Thomas died Friday at his home in Ventura County, Calif., of a suspected heart attack, his friend Gerri Malcolm confirmed to Variety. He was 66.
Thomas was best known for his screenplay of “The Magic of Belle Isle,” directed by Rob Reiner and starring Morgan Freeman as a struggling alcoholic writer and Virginia Madsen as his neighbor. His other screenplay credits include 1980’s “Wholly Moses!” and 2001’s “Chasing Destiny.”

The Transcendence trailer may give you a look at a Johnny Depp that you never imagined. The curious sci-fi effort puts Depp in the role of transferred consciousness, and sets him against a group trying to make sure no one ever… does what he already did.
This is a different-looking film, and it showcases the cast awfully well, even if it may have some trouble selling you on what’s going on. One of the coolest parts of the trailer is how it runs toward the weird, possibly starts losing you with the pure oddity of what it shows, and then pulls Morgan Freeman out of the wings, and leaves you thinking, “Oh, well, I guess it’s fine then.”
Whatever your take on the trailer, this is going to be an interesting film.
Check out all the info below, and let me know what you think of this one.

Wally Pfister, cinematographer for Christopher Nolan’s Batman films, along with a number of other high profile titles, makes his directorial debut with Transcendence, from first time screenwriter, Jack Paglen (who purportedly also penned Prometheus 2). Of course, Pfister was able to line up a spectacular cast, so we’re hoping this is a sci-fi flick that has more substance than slick visuals.
Gist: Dr. Will Caster (Johnny Depp) is the foremost researcher in the field of Artificial Intelligence, working to create a sentient machine that combines the collective intelligence of everything ever known with the full range of human emotions.
