Some of their family members are on the frontlines, and many have fled Ukraine since the war began.
Myrie follows the stories of the musicians from rehearsing, often alone, in Ukraine, to coming together for their first rehearsal as an orchestra in Warsaw for their inaugural concert — ahead of a tour of Europe and the U.S., including a performance at the BBC Proms on July 31.
Myrie said: “There has always been a cultural frontline in this war and I wanted to reflect that struggle. This documentary, I hope, shines a light on Ukraine’s artistic achievements as well as creative spirit,...

“Soon to be a major motion picture.” From its publication in 1986, that was what British actor-writer Peter Turner expected of his Gloria Grahame memoir “Film Stars Don’t Die in Liverpool.” But it took three decades for the May-December romance starring Annette Bening and Jamie Bell to finally hit theaters December 29.
This could have been yet another film that never got made. But James Bond producer Barbara Broccoli knew Turner back when the young actor was in love with Grahame, his fellow lodger twice his age at a Primrose Hill rooming house. “I’ve known Peter Turner for 40 years,” said Broccoli. “I met him and Gloria together. It was a special relationship. Sometime after she passed away he wrote the memoir, and gave me the manuscript. I thought it was so beautiful.”

For the second year in a row, the Best Actress Oscar race looks more competitive than Best Actor. Oscar-winner Nicole Kidman could score for her canny schoolmarm in Sofia Coppola’s Civil War drama “The Beguiled,” while Oscar nominee Carey Mulligan (“An Education”) is superb as a southern farmer’s wife in Dee Rees’ Sundance hit “Mudbound” (Netflix). Coming up this month is Sundance musical “Patti Cake$” (Fox Searchlight, August 18), starring Australian breakout Danielle Macdonald.
As the make-or-break fall festivals loom, Oscar-winner Kate Winslet (“The Reader”) could land an eighth nomination for either Woody Allen’s Nyff closer “Wonder Wheel” (Amazon Studios) or for survival drama “The Mountain Between Us” (Fox, October 6), opposite Idris Elba. Oscar nominee Sally Hawkins (“Blue Jasmine”) also has two plummy roles, as an arthritic artist (Spc’s in-release “Maudie”) or a mute (Fox Searchlight’s festival entry “The Shape of Water,” December 8). Patrick Wolf will score a new Noel Coward biopic.
B Good Picture Company's film based on the early life of Coward was announced at this year's Cannes Film Festival, and has Glee's Chris Colfer attached to star as the playwright.
"I am so thrilled for my first film soundtrack composition to be about Noel Coward's early life. We both grew up in the same parts of south west London, and began our journeys onto the stage and into writing at the same precocious age," Wolf said.
"The script, director, Noel Coward Estate and the cast attached combined are already in perfect synergy to make this something magical. It's an honour to be the next piece of such a legendary puzzle."
Provisionally titled Noel, the screenplay has been written by Martin Sherman and will be directed by Joe Stephenson, his second feature following his debut Chicken.

Funding for screen version of Jake Chapman's 2008 novel, written and directed by the artist brothers, to be secured from the art world
The Chapman brothers, Jake and Dinos, are to become the latest British artists to transfer their work to the world of film with a planned feature-length adaptation of Jake's debut novel, The Marriage of Reason and Squalor.
Published in 2008, Chapman's book is a typically jagged satire of the paperback romance novel. The story centres on bride-to-be Chlamydia Love and her dalliance with the "devilishly unattractive" writer Helmut Mandragorass. The Chapmans plan to co-direct the film adaptation, for which they are currently writing a screenplay.
The Marriage of Reason and Squalor opens with Love gifted a desert island by her fiancee. Matters soon turn awry when the young woman develops a fascination with Mandragorass, the property's rightful owner. A battle begins over the island and, ultimately, Chlamydia's love.
