- Born next to the 46th Precinct house in the Bronx, almost from birth Dorothy Uhnak (prounced YOU-nak) knew that she wanted to be a cop. As it was, she spent fourteen years (twelve as a detective) on the Metropolitan New York Transit Police before resigning to finish her education at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in Manhattan. While there, she published her first book, the semi-autobiographical "Policewoman" and was soon writing and publishing police procedurals and detective novels, both book-length and short fiction. A number of her writings became made-for-television movies.- IMDb Mini Biography By: Jane Margaret Laight
