Digital-native media platform FaZe Clan is breaking into traditional TV formats with a three-year plan for both unscripted and scripted content, including a “Saturday Night Live”-style series for the Gen Z audience that will launch on livestream service Twitch in June, Variety has learned exclusively.
Titled “unFaZed,” FaZe Clan describes the weekly show as “the first-ever variety franchise born out of internet culture,” that will feature a recurring ensemble cast of internet celebrities and be hosted by rotating special guests from that same world, while also regularly bringing in celebrities from the TV, film, music and sports industries.
“unFaZed” is one of two inaugural formatted series set at the esports and online entertainment giant, a media platform that is rooted in gaming and youth culture and boasts a combined social following of over 500 million. The second show is the previously announced “Big Brother”-esque “FaZe1: The Warehouse,” a...

The Fine Bros will soon have a TV show credit to their name. Benny and Rafi Fine have partnered with Nickelodeon to bring the premiere episode of ReactToThat (based on their hit React YouTube series) to traditional television on December 15, 2014. In the ReactToThat TV show, celebrities and children will react to viral online videos, but with an addition not found in the Fine Bros’ digital series. The participants will be asked to partake in a challenge or showdown based on the video they just watched, such as trying to see who can clap the fastest. The premiere episode will feature YouTube fashion vlogger Bethany Mota (who’s more than content to stay on YouTube and launch fashion lines with Aeropostle), AwesomenessTV’s Lia Marie Johnson, Paris Smith of Nickelodeon’s Every Witch Way, and Mace Coronel and Aidan Gallagher of the network’s Nicky, Ricky, Dicky, & Dawn. Nick Cannon and...

Cartoon Network has revealed their 2013-2014 TV show lineup today and, much to the dismay of fans, confirmed that that “Green Lantern: The Animated Series” and “Young Justice” have been canceled. While this may not come as the biggest surprise for the “Young Justice” viewers who paid attention to both the series’ hiatus and subsequent cancellation of its comic book counterpart, the news certainly comes as a blow for fans. Together with the end of “Green Lantern: The Animated Series”, this leaves only “Beware the Batman” and “Teen Titans Go” as the remaining DC Nation shows, both of which have yet to premiere on the network.
While the absence of the shows didn’t necessarily cement the cancellation of the series, Giancarlo Volpe, the showrunner for “Green Lantern: Tas” confirmed the news via his Twitter stating, “This time we knew. They just didn’t want us to announce it publicly until they did.

Who said December slows down for Hollywood? The deals just keep on coming, especially in the digital scene. MTV announced today that web video stars Jake and Amir (Jake Hurwitz and Amir Blumenfeld) and team at NY-based CollegeHumor are getting their own cable TV show: The CollegeHumor Show, a scripted comedy set inside the "offbeat workplace of the twentysomething-run web site CollegeHumor.com", according to the release. It does in fact sound a bit like a longer form version of their original office comedy web series Hardly Working, which (hat tip to Tilzy.) CollegeHumor co-founders Ricky Van Veen and Josh Abramson will executive produce the series along with Sam Reich and Scott Tomlinson. There had been rumors of the series in the works when we caught up with Amir and fellow senior writer Dan Gurewitch earlier this summer.

Craving more of Jake and Amir? Head to your living room. We’ve heard rumblings for a while, but today it’s official. As part of an effort to ramp up the network’s original programming, MTV will give CollegeHumor.com its own network comedy series. Produced by CollegeHumor co-founders Ricky Van Veen and Josh Abramson, Director of Original Content Sam Reich, and Scott Tomlinson, The CollegeHumor Show will take a look at the “offbeat” workplace of the twentysomething-run Website, which sounds like a longer, more elaborate version of Hardly Working. If that series and the other originals already on CollegeHumor are any indication, the MTV version will be hilarious. A great cross-promotional scheme for a company with a big mouthpiece that’s loosing relevancy in an always-connected culture with dizzying choice, and for another company who will gain even greater recognition by becoming associated with one of the most...

MTV has greenlighted a slate of eight new "aspirational, enterprising and empowering" series for 2009 as part of a push to ramp up the network's original programming.
Among them are spinoffs of "Run's House" and "Rob & Big"; a show from Nick Lachey about performing arts students in Cincinnati; another from Johnny Knoxville starring a professional daredevil; and a series that goes behind the scenes at College¬Humor.com. Also on the slate are a Donald Trump-produced series that will attempt to reform party girls, another exec produced by Matt Stone and Trey Parker that's based on the "How's Your News?" short films and a college-set series produced by students.
"These new series reflect Generation 'Why Not?' -- living, working and playing on their own terms, 'adventure capitalists' if you will, pursuing a variety of thrill-seeking, 2.0, express-yourself enterprises," said Brian Graden, president of entertainment at MTV Networks Music Group.
