Bareilly Ki Barfi
Starring Ayushmann Khurana, Rajkummar Rao, Kriti Sanon
Directed by Ashiwini Iyer Tiwari
Early in the plot, we are told that the film’s heroine Bitti is no Sati Savitri. Thank God for small town mercies! In fact she adheres to another kind of stereotyping that Hindi cinema has lately embraced. You know, the small town girl who is hip and happy, sassy and sexy, rides two-wheelers and smokes whenever she can get her hands on a cancer stick, and when a prospective groom asks her if she is a virgin Bitti retorts, “No I am not… are you?”
Ah, long live the virgin bride.
Bitti is from the same feisty school of small-town rebellion as Kareena Kapoor in Jab We Met, Kangana Ranaut in Tanu Weds Manu and Alia Bhatt in Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya. In fact, what Bitti thinks to be streaks of rebellion (breakdancing, watching angrezi films,...

Check out the 10 we thought particularly hit all the right notes!
10. Shekhar Ravjiani
Part of the killer and hit music director duo Vishal-Shekhar that have given us many a favorite song, Shekhar Ravjiani also is a fabulous singer. We heard him along with Chinmayi Sripada on the classic and oh so good love song ‘Zehnaseeb’ from Hasee Toh Phasee. Then there was one of our absolute favorite songs of the year ‘Meherbaan’ (unplugged) from Bang Bang. It really does not get much better than Shekhar and...

For the music of the films of 2014, the composers brought in classic voices, new vocal sounds and vibes and even an actress or two to bring their songs to life. Usually we limit our list to the 5 Best Female Singers but this year we had to expand to 10 in order to highlight their fabulous performances.
10. Shraddha Kapoor
For the first time an actress makes it to our Best Female Singers countdown. Shraddha not only shined in two completely different roles in Ek Villain and Haider, the young actress also showed off her lovely voice with two completely different tunes. With ‘Galliyan’ from Ek Villain, she impressed with her melodious tones. In ‘Do Jahaan’ from Haider she sang a Kashmiri folk song, about which director and composer Vishal Bhardwaj said, “After listening to the song they (Kashmiris) would want to keep you with themselves.” Perhaps one day in the future she...

Mumbai, Oct 9: Gaurav Tiwari, CEO & Founder of Indian Paranormal Society (Ips), has joined hands with the makers of horror show "Bhoot Aya" and claims that it won't promote superstition. Rather, it would explain the reasons behind paranormal activities in the human world.
Actors Akashdeep Sabir and Sheeba have produced "Bhoot Aya", which will go on air Oct 13 on Sony at 11 p.m.
"Superstition happens when you believe something without any proof. But we have proof from all over the world, empirical evidences that prove that human consciousness can survive physical death. Quantum physics is working on it and there are a lot of answers," Gaurav said here Tuesday at the launch of the show.
"But those who say that.

After the super-hit Jannat and the average Tum Mile, director Kunal Deshmukh is back with his third directorial venture once again for Bhatt's Vishesh Films. The film (tentatively) titled XXX is a crime thriller and deals with three parallel stories all of which depict how sex has become a means to an end whether to achieve money, love or power in our modern urban lifestyle. Kunal did confirm the same but was tight-lipped about revealing more on the project. "Yes…my next film is called XXX (working title). It's a bold and explosive subject in terms of its concept." The script of the film has been written by Ankur Tiwari while casting is yet to start though the film is likely to have an ensemble cast. Apparently, Kunal wants to bounce off the script to various actors but is yet not sure on the actors considering the film's bold theme.
