The CW is bulking up its roster of scripted series — and again looking north of the border for its two latest shows.

After swiftly scrapping planned summer drama series Weird Desk last month, ABC has picked up another original drama for next summer, Canadian import Motive, from former Dexter and The Mentalist exec producer Daniel Cerone. The 13-episode CTV series focuses not on who did the crime, but why the crime was committed in the first place. The killer and victim are identified at the beginning of each episode, with the crime then explored via stylized flashbacks which piece together the connection between the two characters and what drove the killer to commit murder. In Canada, the series will premiere in the coveted post-Super Bowl slot this Sunday. Motive stars Kristin Lehman (The Killing), Louis Ferreira (Rookie Blue), Lauren Holly (NCIS), Roger Cross (Arrow), Brendan Penny and Cameron Bright. The series was created by Cerone who executive produces with Louise Clark, Rob Merilees, Erin Haskett, Rob Labelle, Lindsay Macadam and James Thorpe.

Lost Girl Episode 303
“Confaegion”
Written By: James Thorpe
Directed By: Paolo Barzman
Original Airdate: 28 January 2013
In This Episode...
Vex is going through a mid-life crisis. He still doesn’t have any of his powers and is tired of crashing on Bo and Kenzi’s couch. He steals Bo’s phone and brings it to Morrigan so she can delete the incriminating photo Bo has of her. Vex hopes that this will ingratiate himself with the Morrigan and he can get back his standing in the community. It doesn’t; the Morrigan wants Bo’s “head on a platter.”
Unbeknownst to Vex, the Morrigan infected him with some kind of parasite. When he returns home, it jumps into Bo and makes her act like a 13-year-old. When Dyson thinks she has had too much to drink, Bo giggles and gets excited because she thinks he has a fake ID. And she “totally” wants to kiss him.

Canadian TV series "Lost Girl", which also airs on Syfy here in the States, has lined up a pretty impressive guest star for its upcoming Season 3: none other than ass-kicker supreme Linda Hamilton.
TVLine reports that Hamilton (The Terminator, "Beauty and the Beast") will guest star in Season 3's tenth episode as Acacia, “a tough, sexy, and ruthless assassin who has enjoyed a storied and deadly career.”
Season 2 of "Lost Girl" is currently finishing out its run on Syfy by moving to Friday nights at 10:00 Pm, and Season 3 will air on both Syfy and Showcase in 2013 (Syfy says January while Showcase just says winter).
Synopsis:
Anna Silk (Being Erica) stars as seductress Bo, a Succubus (a powerful female entity in folklore) who feeds off sexual energy. Raised by human parents, Bo had no reason to believe she was anything other than the girl next door – until she “drained” her first boyfriend to death.

Of course, for the most part I only know of Lost Girl from its U.S. airing, but I’m a fan, and Linda Hamilton showing up is just too cool.
She’ll be guest-starring as an assassin no less, and it ought to be a rather fun trip. Call me crazy, but this show just gets better and better, and I love to see things coming south.
Are you a fan of the show, and is this a good move?
Check out all the info below.

We haven't been covering "Lost Girl" much lately, but we did want to pass on the news that Syfy has renewed the hit series (it's the #1 cable drama among Adults 18-49 and 25-54 in its time period) for a third season of 13 episodes, beginning January 2013.

Excellent news about a fun, entertaining supernatural crime show with some cool creatures, a fair amount of sex and terrific chemistry between the characters. Hopefully you’ve been catching Lost Girl on Syfy, Mondays at 10/9c. The show is Syfy‘s only “acquired” scripted series. It’s a Canadian production and has been broadcast there with great success and rabid fans, if my international Twitter feed is any indication.
It was renewed for a third season in Canada back in December, before Season 1 debuted here on Syfy in January. Syfy began airing Season 2 the week after Season 1 concluded, and Season 2 is still rolling out now. It’s great news that we’ll be seeing the third season here as well. Here’s the press release:

Well, there’s a much bigger audience for this news than there was when I mentioned that the second of Lost Girl was coming, so hopefully there are a lot of you out there that are glad to hear that Season 3 is getting underway.
It’s timely news as well, now that Syfy kicked off Eureka! last night, which hopefully gave Lost Girl even more of a boost. It’s also timely, because I know there are some folks out there who started to wonder when Syfy began talking about Season 2 of a rebroadcast show that didn’t actually have a Season 3 yet.
I love Syfy for airing the show, but it’s tricky for some fans who may find themselves unsure how much they want to invest in a show, when the network you’re watching it on isn’t really in control of what happens.
At any rate,...

Just checking in to wish everyone happy holidays and safe travels!
Here are a few updates to wrap things up for the week:
Someone has posted an early Christmas present for us on Vimeo - the full pilot for Ron Moore's 17th Precinct. Huge props to Caprica City (Twitter) for the find!
Apparently it's been up there for a couple of months now, but some of us were too busy whining about no air date to notice.
The pilot was directed by BSG's Michael Rymer and has what's probably the best ensemble cast since Caprica went off the air: Jamie Bamber, James Callis, Stockard Channing, Esai Morales, Eamonn Walker, Tricia Helfer and Matt Long. You can watch it on Vimeo or keep scrolling, it's embedded below.
The first part of the Sanctuary season four finale, "Sanctuary for None," airs tonight at 10 pm on Syfy. Here is a new synopsis,...

The October 5 release date for "Castlevania: Lords of Shadow" isn't that far off, but PlayStation Plus subscribers in select territories are getting an early crack at the game's demo today. Unfortunately, the short list of countries getting it includes Great Britain, Australia and New Zealand but not the U.S. or Canada.
"From today, you will be able to play the new 'Castlevania: Lords of Shadow' demo," PlayStation Network product manager James Thorpe wrote on the official European PlayStation blog. "This great new demo is exclusively early to Plus members for one week and is released for everyone else on 29 September."
American members still got free copies of "Syphon Filter 3" and a chance at "Red Faction: Battlegrounds" beta access this week, but unless Sony slips in a last-minute surprise for them, they'll just have to wait for the demo's regularly scheduled release like everyone else.
