Production on the upcoming Apple TV+ limited series “Before,” starring Billy Crystal, is being shut down until the Writers Guild strike ends, an individual with knowledge of the matter confirmed to TheWrap Thursday.
The series, which comes from Paramount Television Studios, stars Crystal as a child psychologist and recent widower who encounters a troubled young boy. The series is written by Sarah Thorp (“The Bounty Hunter”) and Adam Bernstein (“Fargo”) is directing the pilot. Crystal, Thorp, Bernstein, Jet Wilkinson (“The Old Man”) and Eric Roth (“Dune”) serve as executive producers for the series.
The series had been filming in Hoboken, New Jersey, and was temporarily shut down by WGA picketing earlier this month before being placed on an indefinite pause. Other series that have been halted on the East Coast include Disney+’s “Daredevil: Born Again” and Max’s “The Penguin.” In Montana, the “Yellowstone” prequel “1923” was also put on hold until the strike ends.

Director David M. Rosenthal’s reimagining of “Jacob’s Ladder,” the 1990 psychological thriller directed by Adrian Lyne and starring Tim Robbins, is finally readying for release, six years after the project was launched. Written by Jeff Buhler and Sarah Thorp, this new take on the story stars Michael Ealy, Jesse Williams, and Nicole Beharie as part of an all-black cast.
First announced in 2013 and finally shot in 2016, Ld Entertainment’s remake has remained mostly shrouded in secrecy. The production company’s stated goal was to produce more of an homage, rather than a copy of the original, contemporizing the story while remaining true to the issues it examines and questions raised.

Ld Entertainment’s reimagining of “Jacob’s Ladder,” the 1990 psychological thriller directed by Adrian Lyne, starring Tim Robbins, has set what should be a final release date, six years after the project was launched.
Directed by David M. Rosenthal and written by Jeff Buhler and Sarah Thorp, this reimagining stars Michael Ealy, Jesse Williams, and Nicole Beharie.
In the original, scripted by Bruce Joel Rubin, the protagonist is a Vietnam veteran whose experiences prior to and during the war result in fragmented flashbacks and bizarre hallucinations that continue to haunt him, as he desperately tries to get to the bottom of it all. Although not a box office hit ($26 million gross on a $25 million budget), the film went on to achieve cult hit status.

The new Jacob's Ladder will be a "modern-day paranoid action thriller about two brothers"
As you may know, a Jacob's Ladder remake is in the works. Ld Entertainment says that Jacob’s Ladder will be an homage to the classic 1990 supernatural thriller rather than a remake, meaning it will take place in the present and deal with contemporary issues.

Back in 1990 my late aunt, Elizabeth Peña starred opposite Tim Robbins in the thriller Jacob's Ladder. Robbins played the titular Jacob, Peña played Jezzie.

A remake of the 1990 Tim Robbins supernatural horror thriller Jacob's Ladder has been in the works for a few years now. It’s taken a big step forward recently as The Perfect Guy star Michael Ealy has been cast in the lead role. I have no idea if he’s a good actor or not, but I don’t like the fact that this film is being remade.
The original film followed a haunted Vietnam vet who attempts to discover his past while suffering from a severe case of disassociation and mourning his dead child. To do this he has to “decipher reality and life from his own dreams, delusion, and perception of death.”

In the first literary/broadcast crossover, Sqweegel, the super villain from Level 26, did a guest appearance on CSI this fall, driving ratings up for the veteran crime drama, now in its 11th season. The plan is to bring Sqweegel back in the CSI season finale, which would be co-written by Zuiker and the series showrunner Carol Mendelsohn. "I appreciate it more now than the first time," Zuiker said about returning to the show that jump started his career.

If you don't fancy being handcuffed to Jennifer Aniston for 110 minutes of teeth-gnashing romcom clichés, Paul MacInnes offers an escape route with his condensed version of this week's DVD release
The Bounty HUNTERBy Paul MacInnes, with apologies to Sarah Thorp
Scene 1
Ext. Day. The sophisticated streets of New York. On every corner an iconic sight; a yellow taxi, a hot dog stand, a Scottish bruiser Brawling in the middle of the road. Gerard Butler is that bruiser. He is the modern leading man, the Jowls that launched a thousand scripts, and he is Rugby-tackling a woman half his size to the floor.
Gerard Butler: C'mere ya wee scumbag!
The woman falls to the ground and her face is revealed. It is Rachel From Friends. She is just as radiant as she was when she first played this Exact Same Role 20 years ago.

There's nothing to The Bounty Hunter that can't be completely described in its logline: "A bounty hunter (Gerard Bulter) learns that his next target is his ex-wife (Jennifer Aniston), a reporter working on a murder cover-up. Soon after their reunion, the always-at-odds duo find themselves on a run-for-their-lives adventure."
That's pretty much it, except for the adventure part. There's no adventure in The Bounty Hunter. And it's not a case of wasted talent. Nor is it a case of poor execution. It was a bad concept to begin with, and there's no talent on hand to waste. It's an inept movie put together by completely inept people (save for Jason Sudeikis, who tried his little heart out, God bless him). There's not a joke one -- if you can even call them that -- that flies in The Bounty Hunter. There's not an iota of chemistry on screen. There's not...

Columbia Pictures has dropped some new clips from "The Bounty Hunter" starring Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler. One of the fresh snippets follows the actress captured by her on-screen former husband who now becomes a bounty hunter. Moreover, two other videos see Aniston trying to escape from him. The other clip, meanwhile, gives a look at the two who team up to chase a man at a golf course.
In the film, Butler plays a down-on-his-luck bounty hunter named Milo Boyd who gets his dream job when he is assigned to track down his bail-jumping ex-wife, reporter Nicole Hurly, played by Aniston. Initially thinking all that's ahead is an easy payday, Milo realizes that nothing ever goes simply with him and Nicole when she gives him the slip so she can chase a lead on a murder cover-up.

30 Rock cast member Jason Sudeikis has landed a part in Bounty Hunter, that formerly untitled Jennifer Aniston/Gerard Butler action/comedy first reported about last December. Sudeikis plays a pal of Aniston's on the run ex-wife that like to imagine he's the new boyfriend of the woman. Butler is the wife's ex, a professional bounty hunter who's latest job is to track down his former better half 'cuz she skipped bail.
Filming is already underway on the project. Coming Soon recently published a series of spy photos of Butler working on the set, climbing around on a fire escape on a rooftop. Andy Tennant (Fool's Gold, Hitch) is directing from a script by Sarah Thorp (Twisted). Columbia Pictures will release the pic sometime in 2010.
No, there's not been any spy reports of Boba Fett hanging out on the set as a technical advisor.

Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler may team up for an untitled Columbia bounty hunter comedy Andy Tennant is attached to direct.
Variety says Butler would play a bounty hunter hired to find and bring in his ex-wife (Aniston) because she skipped bail. Sounds funny for now.
The trade says Sarah Thorp wrote the script. That scares me a bit, because she also penned "Twisted," this horrendous 2003 thriller with Ashley Judd, Samuel L. Jackson and Andy Garcia. Shew, that was a terrible film.
Anyway, what are these folks doing now? Aniston has a couple of projects coming up, including "Marley & Me" and "He's Just Not That Into You."
As for Butler, he most recently starred in "RocknRolla." He will next star opposite Katherine Heigl in "The Ugly Truth."

We've already heard the unbelievable buzz that Gerard Butler and Jennifer Aniston are going to prison, with Jen getting to play a singing inmate. I would've bet that the whole thing was cooked up by innocent Mad Libs if Aniston wasn't producing the sucker. But get this -- Goree Girls is just the tip of the iceberg.
Variety reports that Aniston and Butler are in negotiations to star in a new, currently untitled, bounty hunter comedy. Should this all pan out, Butler will play a bounty hunter who is hired to hunt down a fugitive that's skipped bail -- one who just so happens to be his ex-wife (Aniston). Uh, did someone read about Goree and decide that they'd be perfect for another outlaw comedy? (While on drugs, of course, since this is ridiculous.) Sarah Thorp, the pen behind Twisted, wrote the screenplay, and Andy Tennant (Hitch) has signed on to direct.

Bounty hunters. We don’t need their scum. But it sure helps when they’re played by Gerard Butler. The charming Scot will take time out from being Our Helen’s stalkee to star in an as-yet untitled romantic action comedy in which he’ll play a bounty hunter who is assigned to find his ex-wife, played by Jennifer Aniston.Of course, the minute you mention ‘bounty hunter’ and ‘comedy’ in the same sentence, the magnificent Midnight Run is immediately brought to mind. But while this movie is unlikely to have the acerbic spirit of the Robert De Niro/Charles Grodin classic – Fool’s Gold director Andy Tennant will call the shots, after all – it sounds like it could be a fun rom-com, with plenty of potential for Butler and Aniston to bicker and argue and fall for each other all over again.Sarah Thorp wrote the script for the movie,...
