Growing up in Culver City, it was easy to get caught up in the film industry. By merely walking to school you had to cross paths with, not one, but two once great movie studios. Monte spent his childhood sneaking into the back lots of the old MGM and Selznick studios. Ironically he now spends his time trying to sneak out of the those very same lots.
For more than 30 years Monte has provided 24-frame video playback services to the motion picture industry and is credited on more than 100 feature films. His first movie was Space Camp in 1985 and, over the next ten years, he worked on some of the biggest films of the era. Scrooged (1988)The Hunt for Red October (1990) Star Trek VI (1991) Wayne's World (1992) True Lies (1994) Batman Forever (1995) and The Rock (1996).
in 1997 Monte started his own company, Cygnet Video, and for the next decade he continued to attract Hollywood's most prestigious feature film directors. Steven Spielberg, A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001) Michael Bay, Armageddon (1998) and Bad Boy's II, (2003) Ridley Scott, Body of Lies (2008) David Fincher, Panic Room (2002) and James Cameron, True Lies (1994). Monte had a long association with Dir. Tony Scott as well, working on several of his films. The Fan (1996) Crimson Tide (1995) Enemy of The State (1998) Domino (2005) Deja Vu (2006) and Tony's last film, Unstoppable, (2009)
The trend continued with three of J.J. Abrams films, Mission Impossible: III (2006) Star Trek: The future begins (2009) Star Trek; into Darkness (2013) and, for Dir. Christopher Nolan, The Dark Knight Rises (2012). Monte engineered the visionary world of Transcendence (2014) then completed the last two Hunger Games movies, Mockingjay part 1 and part 2 followed by Jurassic World in 2015 and Ad Astra in 2019. Monte's latest project is Malignant by Dir. James Wan.
