TORONTO -- Ted Riley, the recently departed distribution chief at Alliance Atlantis Communications, has joined the board at Los Angeles-based TV producer Alchemy Television Group.
Alchemy CEO Carrie Stein said Friday that Riley has agreed to help advise Alchemy as the two-year-old producer expands into the international distribution market.
"The next phase in our growth is upon us. And I really wanted the oversight of someone who is outstanding in the distrbution area. It doesn't come better than Ted," she said, adding that she has known Riley since her days as an agent at ICM.
In August, Riley stepped down as executive managing director of international distribution at Alliance Atlantis after it was taken over by rival CanWest Global Communications and equity partner Goldman Sachs & Co.
Riley's duties at Alliance Atlantis included selling the popular "CSI" franchise internationally. That role is now handled by CBS Prods. after Goldman Sachs acquired Alliance Atlantis' half-stake in the "CSI" franchise.
Peter Sussman, one of four Alliance Atlantis co-founders, already occupies a chair in the Alchemy boardroom.
