As we all know too well, Bavarian castles don't pay for themselves, and Nicolas Cage will sometimes say "yes" to anything. Sometimes that can lead to smart, challenging work like this summer's "Joe," a micro-budgeted indie that he would have never thought twice about when Cage was riding high in his "Con Air" heyday. But it can also lead to movies like "Left Behind," which, if the just-released teaser trailer is any indication, might be our most ironically anticipated film of 2014 (sorry, "Sharknado 2").
"Left Behind" is based on a series of best-selling evangelical books by Tim Lahaye and Jerry B. Jenkins, which began in 1995, that dramatize what the world would look like following the rapture. The series had been adapted once before, with 2000's Kirk Cameron-starring "Left Behind: The Movie."

The man who gave Anastasia Steele her name finally has a face: Actor Callum Keith Rennie will play Ana's stepfather -- yes, another one-- in "Fifty Shades of Grey."
Rennie, who TV fans may recognize from his stint on "Battlestar Galactica," will play Ray Steele, who Ana's mother Carla (played by Jennifer Ehle) married after Ana's biological father died. Ana took Ray's last name, though the marriage didn't last; actor Dylan Neal was recently cast to play Carla's current husband (and Ana's new stepfather), Bob.
Ray's character also provides a link to Ana's non-Christian love interest, Jose (Victor Rasuk), who's the source of some jealousy that fuels a few of Christian and Ana's S&M sessions. Ray and Jose's father served in the Army together.
"Fifty Shades of Grey," which stars Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan, hits theaters February 13, 2015.

Fifty gets a Two! If you.re a die-hard Battlestar Galactica fan, you might get that reference and you may already be picturing the creased brow of a certain (dreamy) Cylon. Actor Callum Keith Rennie has joined the cast of Fifty Shades of Grey, playing Anastasia Steele.s (other) stepfather, Ray Steele. Just to clear up any potential confusion, this isn.t a recasting. Ana has two stepfathers. Actor Dylan Neal signed on previously to play the role of Bob, the man still married to Ana.s mother, Carla (played by Jennifer Ehle). Rennie will play Carla.s second husband Ray, whom she married after Ana.s biological father died. Of Ana.s stepfathers, Ray.s the one Anna views as her "real" father, enough so that she took and kept his last name. Rennie seems like a perfect fit for this role. Ray.s a serious kind of guy...

We could not be more pleased with your decision-making skills, Ashley Tisdale. You too, Ashley Tisdale’s agent and manager and anyone else who helped her land the role of Nicolas Cage‘s offspring in Left Behind. According to Deadline, the former High School Musical star has been cast as Chloe Steele; she and father Ray Steele must learn how to survive on Earth after the biblical Rapture. We guess what we’re saying is, a Christian-themed apocalyptic action movie starring Nicolas Cage is an automatic Wicker Man-style cult hit, and Ashley was smart to get on board.
It’s not like Ashley Tisdale hasn’t been getting work, of course. She’s lined up to voice Sabrina Spellmen in the Sabrina The Teenage Witch reboot as well as Scary Movie 5, and recently did two episodes of Sons Of Anarchy. If anything, daughter of Cage is the perfect compliment to girl sorceress,...

Former Disney princess Ashley Tisdale (currently trying to survive the brutally unfunny looking “Scary Movie 5″) has joined the cast of “Left Behind”, a remake of a series of movies from the 2000s starring Kirk Cameron, based on the bestselling Christian novels by Jerry B. Jenkins and Tim Lahaye. The remake, which will feature a much bigger budget than the 2001 original, is already scheduled to star Nicolas Cage in the lead. Cage will play Ray Steele, an adulterous commercial pilot who, along with his daughter Chloe (Tisdale), find themselves left behind in the world after The Rapture takes everyone else — to Heaven, presumably. Here’s a better description of the book: On a flight from Chicago to London, several passengers aboard Capt. Rayford Steele’s plane suddenly and mysteriously disappear. When Steele radios to London to report the situation, he discovers that the incident on his plane is not an...

The film Left Behind is exactly what you think it is. It tells the story of a family that was left behind after The Rapture, which (for those of you who might not be familiar with the term), according to Christians, is the second coming of Jesus Christ. It’s been announced that actress Ashley Tisdale has been cast to play Nicolas Cage’s daughter in said film.
Left Behind follows Chloe Steele, the daughter of Cage’s Ray Steele, who wanders America looking to find any remaining members of her family after millions of people disappear from Earth. Chad Michael Murray is also attached to star.
Vic Armstrong, best known for his work as a stunt coordinator, is directing the film, which is actually an adaptation of the bestselling faith-based novels by Tim Lahaye and Jerry B. Jenkins. Previously, there was a trilogy of Left Behind movies, starring Kirk Cameron.
