In September 1999, he joined IATSE Studio Lighting Technicians Local 728. Thanks to the union and great contacts, he has worked on numerous motion pictures, television shows, commercials and special events. Operating in such capacities as a set lighting tech, rigging electrician, rigging gaffer, lighting console programmer, spot light operator, best boy and chief lighting technician, Tom continues to hone his craft from some of the best talents in the business.
In 2011, Tom married Gina Chapa, a union wardrobe designer and costumer also in the entertainment business. As an avid collector of classic and important films on DVD and Blu-Ray discs, he owns some 2,500 titles ranging from the silent era to the present. When not working, Tom is either watching his favorite cable network TCM, or reading from some of Hollywood's legendary filmmakers.
