Kids have always talked to their stuffed animals. In Ted, the bawdy teddy bear fantasy that has yielded two R-rated movies and now a new prequel series on Peacock, the furry beast talks back, often in a four-letter flourish, always with the delivery of some out-of-time Boston vaudevillian. He also hits the bong, throws back shots, drives drunk, watches porn, and generally behaves like a teenage troublemaker. Creator (and Ted voice) Seth MacFarlane clearly finds it all funny, having continually returned to this particular well. The thing is, in this case,...

Claire Danes tapped into a primal moment from her 20s to bring up that soul-shattering scream in Episode 7 of FX and Hulu’s “Fleishman Is in Trouble.”
The limited series, adapted by Taffy Brodesser-Akner from her own novel, just wrapped its eight-episode run this week. But TV Twitter was a-chatter last week when, with Episode 7, Brodesser-Akner and team flipped the script on what had previously been a series primarily about Toby Fleishman’s (Jesse Eisenberg) freefall amid the divorce from and disappearance of his wife Rachel (Danes).
Danes was largely absent from Episodes 1 through 6 save for flashbacks to her early courtship with Dr. Toby Fleishman and the ensuing moments of bitterness and rancor that torched their tony New York marriage. But in Episode 7, it’s revealed that Rachel, a seemingly steely agent whom we thought was merely fleeing her husband and children,...

"Three things I got good at to survive: running, fighting, and stealing." HBO Max has unveiled a full trailer for their new adaptation of the beloved book titled The Time Traveler's Wife. This is another new take on the book, as they already made the The Time Traveler's Wife movie, with Eric Bana & Rachel McAdams, which first opened in 2009. This new series stars Rose Leslie & Theo James as the couple dealing with the challenges of random time travel. For those unfamilair with this, it's not so much of a story about time travel as it is a romance about the difficulties of finding and staying in love. "Every moment matters," the tagline states. The cast also includes Jason David, Kate Siegel, Jaime Ray Newman, Josh Stamberg, Taylor Richardson, Spencer House, & Michael Park. Wow this looks damn good, I quite like the way into gets into all these existential questions between the two of them.

The Time Traveler's Wife looks set to feature a new 'ship that will be talked about for the years to come.
HBO on Thursday confirmed the highly-anticipated adaptation of Audrey Niffenegger's novel will bow Sunday, May 15.
The six-episode series will also be available to stream on HBO Max.
the series is described as "an intricate and magical love story, adapted by Steven Moffat from the much loved novel by Audrey Niffenegger and directed by David Nutter, The Time Traveler’S Wife tells the story of Clare and Henry, and a marriage with a problem... time travel."
Sounds fun, right?
The first trailer certainly hones in on the issue of time travel and how Clare (Rose Leslie) and Henry's (Theo James) love story is constantly put on pause when Henry disappears.
Moffat recently opened up about bringing the project to screen during the TCA panel for the show.

“WandaVision” has the chance to dominate the 2021 Emmy nominations judging from its submissions on this year’s Emmy ballots. The show has 45 entries across categories — 46 if you count Best Documentary/Nonfiction Special contender “Marvel Studios Assembled: The Making of WandaVision.” Scroll down to see the list.
This is the first TV series set fully in the Marvel Cinematic Universe — as opposed to Netflix shows like “Jessica Jones” and ABC’s “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” which were more tangentially connected to the MCU. So it has the chance to do for this blockbuster movie franchise what “The Mandalorian” did for “Star Wars” last year when it won seven Emmys out of 15 nominations.

[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “WandaVision” Episode 9, the series finale, “The Series Finale.”]
Though stacked with plenty of loaded lines and piercing looks (most courtesy of Kathryn Hahn), there are two bedrock-shaking emotional moments in the “WandaVision” finale. The first is the inevitable ending. MCU fans likely knew from the start, and the rest of us caught up soon enough, that Vision (Paul Bettany) wasn’t going to walk out of Westview. His previous death(s) could not be ignored, and his resurrection couldn’t be made permanent with magic or even by the android’s endearing attempts to understand his true identity.
Still, showrunner and episode writer Jac Schaeffer deserves credit for executing that farewell with grace and power. Though no parting words between Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision could compare to the all-timer from Episode 8, they didn’t need to; that moment was the true climax of the series, and their shared final...

In the days leading up to the “WandaVision” series finale, a lot of people online were wondering how long the episode would be, and it turns out that it was a normal length. The episode, titled “The Series Finale” (of course), was the longest episode of the show, but only by a few minutes. It was still less than an hour, including the credits, which featured both a mid-credits scene and a post-credits scene for the first time. In other words, it was a TV show until the end. A TV show that created one of the most powerful beings in the known universe, of course, but a TV show nonetheless.
The finale was pretty much exactly what we all expected it to be, with Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) facing off against Agatha (Kathryn Hahn), who wanted to absorb Wanda’s power like she’d absorbed all the powers from the...

Warning: The following recap of WandaVision, Episode 9 “The Series Finale” contains some major spoilers:
First off, if the title of the episode is any indication, we definitely won’t be getting a second season of WandaVision.
Marvel Boss Kevin Feige told the press at TCA last week “to never say never” when it comes to a season 2 of the Elizabeth Olsen-Paul Bettany Disney+ Marvel series, but it’s certainly clear now that the series will bridge to the movies Captain Marvel 2 (or upcoming Disney+ Secret Invasion series) as expected and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
In regards to how the finale directed by Matt Shakman and written by Jac Schaeffer extends to those big pics, read on. However, to clear up a few big things that some were expecting that did not occur: Big bad villain Mephisto never revealed himself, and as of this moment, Agnes...

Netflix has released the first official trailer for “Operation Varsity Blues: The College Admissions Scandal,” a deep dive into the 2019 bribery scandal that led to over 50 high-profile arrests, including actresses Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman. The criminal conspiracy to guarantee admission to elite institutions was arranged and designed by a man named Rick Singer, who will be dramatized by Matthew Modine in the film. The documentary was directed by Chris Smith and written by Jon Karmen, who had a hand in Netflix’s Fyre Festival documentary “Fyre” as well as the smash hit docuseries “Tiger King.”
That should offer some idea of the tone of “Operation Varsity Blues,” which is sure to deliver the vicarious thrill of watching the demise of entitled people who think money and privilege will inure them from consequences. (This article contains major spoilers for “Previously On,” the eighth episode of the Marvel series “WandaVision”)
Well, that sure was a doozie. For the next-to-last episode of “WandaVision” on Disney+, we got a bit of a lore dump as Agatha (Kathryn Hahn) took a trip through Wanda Maximoff’s (Elizabeth Olsen) past. One of the biggest things we learned was that, actually, Wanda did Not steal Vision’s body from S.W.O.R.D.
S.W.O.R.D. director Tyler Hayward (Josh Stamberg), it turns out, lied to Monica about that to paint Wanda as a villain — he showed her video of Wanda breaking the glass in the lab and descending into the bay, and used those to weave a fake story.
So it certainly looks a lot like Hayward himself is the real villain here. Especially after that bonus scene we got during the end credits.

In the wake of the big Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) reveal last week, “WandaVision” pumped the brakes in the penultimate episode, aptly titled “Previously On,” to deliver the Cliff Notes version of the most traumatic experiences in Wanda’s (Elizabeth Olsen) life. This serves two purposes: It allows the show’s viewers who are not well versed in the events of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to be caught up to speed, and it explains how Wanda got to this point.
It does all of this via Agatha, who is determined to find out who Wanda is and how she is able to manipulate reality on such a large scale when it’s not even something she, an exceptionally powerful witch with ties to Salem, can do. Acting as a guide, she takes Wanda (and thus the viewers) through the death of Wanda’s parents in Sokovia; the experiments with Hydra...

[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “WandaVision” Episode 7, “Breaking the Fourth Wall.”]
Shortly before the opening credits blend “The Office” muzak with a “Modern Family” title card, Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) makes a promise. While not explicit, her words are the kind of implied assurance familiar to TV fans everywhere. It’s the start of the episode, things are a bit awry, and our lead character sits down to tell us what’s going to happen this week. Technically, it’s a promise to herself, but the late-2000s twist to Episode 7’s sitcom homage sees Wanda speaking directly to the camera for the first time.
“I plan on taking a quarantine-style staycation,” Wanda says, after getting a bit frazzled from expanding the Hex and seeing random objects in her house shifting through time. “A whole day. Just myself. That’ll show me.”
Now, from the audience’s perspective, there are two ways to take this promise:...

It’s well established that any actor doing an interview about an upcoming project in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has to safely navigate a minefield of potential spoilers. Even so, when Variety recently talked with Teyonah Parris about her role in Marvel’s ongoing Disney Plus series “WandaVision,” a seemingly innocuous question about director Nia DaCosta — who was hired to direct the upcoming Marvel feature film “Captain Marvel 2” — seemed to momentarily catch Parris off guard, as if she wasn’t sure whether she’d unwittingly stepped on another mine.
Since Parris stars in DaCosta’s upcoming horror film “Candyman,” and is set to reprise her “WandaVision” role of intrepid S.W.O.R.D. agent Monica Rambeau in “Captain Marvel 2,” did DaCosta reach out to Parris while she was in the running for the directing job?
“Um,” Parris says, appearing to search for the right words. “I’ve talked to Nia since ‘Candyman.

With just three episodes left, WandaVision needs to conjure firm answers, and quick, about who all is behind the proverbial curtain. Especially if it’s not Wanda herself.

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not yet watched Season 1, Episode 6 of Disney Plus’ “WandaVision.”
The last time we caught up with Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision’s (Paul Bettany) quirky adventures through television eras, we were in the curly and corny and colorful 1980s, dealing with superpowered and superaging twins, Vision’s growing consciousness of the anomalies of “WandaVision,” a dog that died for the bogus reason of eating too many of the next-door sorceresses’ azalea leaves and Wanda breaking her own fourth wall to confront S.W.O.R.D.
The sixth episode of “WandaVision” was just as replete with sitcom zaniness — heavily inspired by the early aughts Fox series “Malcolm in the Middle” — and with scenes of the investigative research of agents and scientists-gone-rogue. But that also means that this episode has left us with, yes, you guessed it, a bunch of puzzles to crack.

After the largely saccharine nature of the ‘80s episode last week, a pitch-perfect ’90s pastiche of “Malcolm in the Middle” (which actually premiered in 2000) in the sixth episode of “WandaVision” gave way to an eerie atmosphere of mystery and dread as Vision (Paul Bettany) struck out on his own and attempted to figure out what was going on in Westview while Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) and Pietro (Evan Peters) supervised Tommy and Billy, who’ve begun to exhibit the powers of their comic book counterparts, during Halloween. It was another example of the show’s impressive ability to balance its many stylistic and narrative elements, especially when you consider the seamless transition to the S.W.O.R.D. action going on outside of Westview as well.

That’s right, the actor who played the other Quicksilver in “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” “X-Men: Apocalypse” and “Dark Phoenix” — movies that are not supposed to be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe — has stepped into the role previously played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson in “Avengers: Age of Ultron.” The power that has! The influence that has! The cosmic implications that has!
In hindsight, the entire episode was laying the groundwork for a reveal that further...

This WandaVision review contains spoilers.
WandaVision Episode 5
It seems nearly impossible to follow an episode like “We Interrupt This Program,” but as we hit the midpoint of the season the team behind WandaVision has managed it. WandaVision episode 5 continues directly from where we left off and sets up some interesting potential conflicts both inside and out of Westview. With Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) thrown out of Wanda’s suburban mind palace, she’s back in the not so welcoming arms of Sword and Director Hayward (Josh Stamberg). While Agent Jimmy Woo (Randall Park) and Darcy (Kat Dennings) couldn’t be happier to see Monica, the rest of Sword is more concerned with the massive existential threat that is Wanda Maximoff and her puppet town of ghoulish human hostages.
After another sitcom reference heavy opening credits, it seems like we might be back to the format established by the first three episodes.

He’s recognizable because he’s had major roles in some of Primetime’s biggest shows. From “Drop Dead Diva,” to “Parenthood,” to “The Affair,” Josh Stamberg is a man who has a great resume to his name. He’s been on television for a long time, and he’s made many of his characters quite memorable. His fans know he’s good in any role, but they find that they don’t know that much about him in a personal capacity. Who is this man? What’s he like? We thought we’d get to know him a little more intimately outside of his work. 1. He’s from

This article contains spoilers for WandaVision episode 4.
We’re officially four episodes into WandaVision, and the situation in Westview is starting to heat up. But with more than half of the remaining season left yet to air (the first season consists of a planned nine episodes), there’s still so much more we don’t know.
Although the first three episodes were firmly ensconced in the sitcom-esque small-town reality that Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) find themselves in, with only the occasional blip to indicate that something strange is going on, episode 4, titled “We Interrupt This Program,” finally pans out to reveal the true circumstances of the situation. Not only is the town of Westview, New Jersey trapped within some type of cosmic energy field (the likes of which resemble the swirls and patterns of an old TV screen), but it appears that the person ultimately responsible...

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not yet watched the fourth episode of Season 1 of Disney Plus’ “WandaVision.”
What started out as an excessively nostalgic homage to the genre of situational comedies starring two starcrossed Avengers — Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) — is getting more sinister and precarious with each new episode drop. We may have been filled in on a couple of secrets in Episode 4, entitled “We Interrupt This Program,” but we’re still left with riddles to solve about the wacky, time-hopping world of “WandaVision.”
Well, as Dr. Darcy Lewis (Kat Dennings) would say, let’s get this show on the road! Here are nine burning questions from Episode 4 (and a few that remain unanswered from our past three recaps):
Can we trust Acting Director Tyler Hayward (and did he change S.W.O.R.D’s name)?
We barely know anything about S.

If it wasn’t for the common cold, National Public Radio’s Susan Stamberg might never have gotten a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
“Radio was the glamour medium of my childhood,” Stamberg tells Variety, recalling her airwaves-obsessed, pre-tv youth. “I loved getting a cold, because I could stay home and my mother would move that radio out of the kitchen into my bedroom, and the two of us would sit and listen to all the soap operas.”
Stamberg discovered a passion that would burn brightly as her radio career flourished in tandem with NPR’s five-decade ascent — from host of such evergreen programming as “All Things Considered” and “Weekend Edition Sunday to her current role as special correspondent. She will receive her Hollywood star on March 3.

Russell Crowe’s portrayal of the controversial Fox News chief Roger Ailes will be coming to Showtime on Sunday, June 30, the network has announced.
Showtime has also released an unnerving first look trailer for the miniseries, in which Crowe’s Ailes takes over Fox News and starts bending it to his will.
“Here in America, television news is king,” the character says. “We’re gonna give them a vision of the world the way they want it to be…we’re way past politics, it’s war.”
The trailer more than hints at the sexual harassment allegations which brought about Ailes’ downfall, as the character is seen touching Fox News anchor Gretchen Carlson, played by Naomi Watts, who looks extremely uncomfortable with his actions.
The series is based on Gabriel Sherman’s bestselling book, “The Loudest Voice in the Room,” and tells the story of Ailes and his rise and fall at Fox News.

The end of the road is near for Nashville. Cmt has released a midseason trailer ahead of the hit country music drama’s final episodes, which begin airing next month.
In the clip we see Deacon (Charles Esten) in a familiar spot, struggling with his unresolved past. Estranged from his new relationship with Jessie (Kaitlin Doubleday), he’s left to deal with an old one – his father. Juliette (Hayden Panettiere) goes to war with Darius (Josh Stamberg), and will face a fight to save her career and her relationship with Avery (Jonathan Jackson). Meanwhile, Daphne (Maisy Stella) pursues her own musical career under the guidance of Deacon’s biggest enemy, Brad Maitland (Jeffrey Nordling), the ultimate manipulator.
It’s been quite a journey for Nashville since it premiered on ABC in 2012. Cmt saved the series following its sudden cancellation by ABC in May 2016, picking it up for its final two seasons.

Josh Stamberg will take on the role of playwright Arthur Miller in Fall, a new play written by Bernard Weinraub, the former film reporter for The New York Times, and produced by Todd Black and Steve Tisch of Escape Artists, the film production company behind such movies as Southpaw and The Pursuit of Happyness.
A co-presentation with Boston’s Huntington Theatre Company, where the play will have its world premiere in a May 18-June 16 engagement, Fall tells the true story of Miller’s “secret” son Daniel, the child the Death of a Salesman playwright had with third wife Inge Morath. Born with Down syndrome, Daniel was institutionalized, his existence never acknowledged by his parents.
The cast also includes Joanne Kelly as Morath, Joanna Glushak as a character named Dr. Wise, and in the role of Daniel, Nolan James Tierce, a local actor with Down syndrome. John Hickok will play Broadway producer Robert Whitehead.

‘Nashville’ Final Season: Juliette Found a Man Who Is Gonna Solve All Her Problems (Exclusive Video)
Contrary to contrarian belief, country music is not all about a man’s dog, his pickup truck and a six-pack of beer. Sometimes the drama goes much deeper, which is how “Nashville” has been able to exist for five seasons across two channels. The sixth — and final — one even deals with depression. As the new batch of episodes for the ABC-turned-Cmt series begins, Juliette (Hayden Panettiere) is struggling with dejection after the fan backlash following her stealing of Maddie’s (Lennon Stella) song. Along the way, our main character meets Darius (Josh Stamberg), the charismatic founder of a self-actualization movement,...

A new trailer for Nashville’s final season is here, and the fireworks are just getting started.
