The Dumb And Dumber sequel, Dumb And Dumber To, is at the heart of a new court case...
It took a long time to happen, and when many of us got to feast our eyes on Dumb And Dumber To when it arrived in 2014, we couldn’t help but wonder why they bothered. It’d be fair to say that the film fell some way short of the 1994 original, in spite of most of the key personnel – Jim Carrey, Jeff Daniels, the Farrelly brothers – all returning for the new movie.
The film proved to be a modest box office success at least, though, returning around $170m off a $40m budget. Even with Hollywood accounting’s finest at work, there’s a sniff of a profit there. But some of that profit may be about to be eaten up by a fresh court case that’s been launched.

The producers of the original Dumb and Dumber say New Line Cinema breached their contract by assigning the rights to the 2014 sequel without offering them the opportunity first.
Steve Stabler and Brad Krevoy are suing New Line for breach of contract and asking the court to make the company keep up its end of their producer agreement.
Stabler and Krevoy say their 1994 contract gave them each a $200,000 producer fee, a share of New Line's net profits and rights of first negotiations for sequels and remakes.

Two decades after Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels’ endearingly dense pairing spun slapstick comedy into box office gold in Dumb and Dumber, the long-awaited sequel, Dumb and Dumber To, arrives on DVD and Blu-ray Combo Pack and On Demand on February 17, 2015 from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. Directed by Peter and Bobby Farrelly (Dumb and Dumber; There’s Something about Mary; Me, Myself and Irene) the Dumb and Dumber To Blu-ray Combo Pack offers hilarious extra belly laughs including an alternate opening, deleted and extended scenes, and a multi-part feature that takes viewers behind the scenes of the no-holds-barred comedy.
The side-splitting sequel also stars Rob Riggle (The Hangover, 21 Jump Street), Kathleen Turner (Marley & Me, Romancing the Stone), Laurie Holden (“The Walking Dead,” Silent Hill), Rachel Melvin (My Funny Valentine, “Days of Our Lives”), and Steve Tom(“Major Crimes,” Seven Pounds).

The yearlong Dumb And Dumber To legal battle between Red Granite Pictures and producers Steve Stabler and Brad Krevoy is over. The producers today requested their racketeering allegations against the financiers be dismissed. This filing (read it here) means, I’ve learned, that the two sides have reached a confidential settlement to the lawsuit that Red Granite launched last July 15 to get the franchise’s original producers off the sequel. Rgp said at the time that Stabler and Krevoy had no right to be a part of the Universal-distributed follow-up to the 1994 hit. No right translated into no credits or fees […]...

Brad Krevoy and Steve Stabler have withdrawn a racketeering claim against Red Granite Pictures. The two producers have been involved in a legal battle over Dumb and Dumber To after being excluded from the sequel to the 1994 comedy starring Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels. Krevoy and Stabler worked on the first film and allege that they had a contractual right to be involved in or compensated for the follow-up. Red Granite has insisted that it has no obligations toward the two. The litigation took an explosive turn this past March when the producers targeted Red Granite principals Riza

Red Granite, the producer of Wolf of Wall Street and the forthcoming sequel to Dumb and Dumber, has reacted strongly to allegations that its financing is sourced to embezzled foreign money. On Tuesday, the production house of Riza Aziz and Joey McFarland demanded that a Los Angeles Superior Court judge reject a racketeering claim made by Brad Krevoy and Steve Stabler, producers of the 1994 hit Dumb and Dumber. According to Red Granite's demurrer motion, its legal adversaries have 21 days to withdraw the Rico claim -- which it says was brought "solely to harass Defendants, smear their reputations, and pressure

What does Dumb and Dumber have to do with Wolf of Wall Street? Nothing aside from sour grapes between the films' producers, which may have been enough to launch a devastating legal battle. Allow me break down how a lawsuit over the upcoming sequel Dumb and Dumber To has roped in accusations about the makers of Wolf Of Wall Street. The 1994 hit comedy Dumb and Dumber was produced in part by Brad Krevoy and Steve Stabler, but both were denied a chance to participate in the making of the sequel Dumb and Dumber To. For this offense, the pair sued Red Granite and its heads Riza Aziz and Joey McFarland, the production company behind Dumb and Dumber To. In a stunning move, Krevoy and Stabler have added an amendment to the original suit that claims Red Granite committed racketeering in making the company's biggest hit to date, The Wolf of...

Washington, April 10: The makers of the 'Wolf of Wall Street' have denied using 100 million dollars of embezzled money to finance their critically acclaimed film.
A representative for Red Granite told the Hollywood Reporter in a statement that the false, malicious and baseless allegations put forward by Brad Krevoy and Steve Stabler, producers of the 1994 hit 'Dumb and Dumber' were untrue, and Red Granite looked forward to the prompt dismissal of these claims.
The rep said that they have no facts to back up their accusations Messrs. Krevoy and Stabler resorted to rank speculation and innuendo, and that there was simply nothing to these naked allegations.
Krevoy and Stabler had earlier sued Red Granite and its principals,.

The source of the $100 million used to finance Oscar-nominated The Wolf of Wall Street is being openly questioned in a Los Angeles courtroom. Brad Krevoy and Steve Stabler, producers of the 1994 hit Dumb and Dumber, are suing Red Granite and its principals, Riza Aziz and Joey McFarland, for being excluded from a sequel. The original lawsuit has been amended to include a claim that their adversaries have committed racketeering. Warner Bros. Pictures has decided to pass on plans to make a sequel to the 1994 comedy "Dumb and Dumber".
It has taken nearly twenty years, but original stars Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels have finally agreed to return for a potential sequel.
However, despite a budget in the low $30 million range, the studio has reportedly lost interest and is unwilling to give it the green light.
A big factor was said to have been the box-office failure of "The Incredible Burt Wonderstone" despite an acclaimed turn by Carrey.
So, Warners is now allowing the project to be shopped around to find a new financier and distributor.
Bobby and Peter Farrelly are back at the helm of the film which will see Carrey and Daniels' characters hit the road to find Daniels' illegitimate daughter for a kidney transplant.
Brad Krevoy, Steve Stabler, Charlie Wessler and Bradley Thomas are set to produce.

Earlier this month, Fangoria Entertainment announced a joint venture with Anchor Bay Entertainment to remake Bob Clark's 1972 zombie film, Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things. Steve Stabler is onboard as producer, with horror legend Tom Savini in the director's chair and prolific short filmmaker Drew Daywalt as screenwriter.
For those that haven't seen it, the film revolves around a theater troupe led by Alan, a rather mean-spirited director, who brings them to an isolated island for a night of fun and games. This includes digging up a corpse named Orville and holding a séance with the goal of raising the dead.
The party continues, despite the failure of the séance. All the while, Alan berates his actors and uses Orville's corpse as the butt of his jokes. The director's ensemble is no better, with all of them willing to walk over each other to garner Alan's favor. And while...

Brothers Peter and Bobby Farrelly have made some good comedies (Osmosis Jones, There’s Something About Mary, Shallow Hal) but the ones that stands out above those is actually one of my favorite comedies of all time, Dumb & Dumber. There have been talks of a sequel for years and after the travesty that was Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd many thought all was lost.
The brothers have wrapped production on their big screen version of The Three Stooges and now hope to move on to a sequel to the 1994 hit. Deadline reports that they intend to bring back Jim Carrey, Jeff Daniels and original producers Charles B. Wessler, Brad Krevoy and Steve Stabler. Now that Peter and Bobby Farrelly are almost done with their long dreamed-of film reincarnation of The Three Stooges, they're turning their thoughts to the future. The brothers have another TV show in the works [1], but for their next feature film it sounds like they might revive their 1994 hit Dumb and Dumber. Screenwriters have been hired to write a sequel that will hopefully reunite Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels in their original roles. Deadline [2] says Sean Anders and John Morris (Sex Drive writers, directors of the upcoming I Hate You Dad) have been roped in to write a script, and the Farrellys want to make Dumb and Dumber 2 (or whatever it will be called) their next film. This is follow-through on talk from last year [3]. While promoting Hall Pass, Bobby Farrelly said, If we could get those two guys back together, Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels that might be a...

Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels could be back on the big screen as loveable idiots Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne, if Peter and Bob Farrelly have their way.
The producing duo have expressed their desire to get Carrey and Daniels back in a much awaited sequel to the original 1994 hit, according to Deadline.
Sean Anders and John Morris have been hired to write the screenplay while original producers, Charles B. Wessler, Brad Krevoy and Steve Stabler will return alongside, Conundrum Entertainment partner Bradley Thomas.
With a meagre $16m budget Dumb and Dumber grossed over $250m worldwide, garnering a huge fan base and critical acclaim.
However, the ill-fated follow-up, Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd - starring Derek Richardson and Eric Christian Olsen – quashed any hopes of a credible Carrey-Daniels sequel for some time.
Only time will tell if the Farrellys can work their magic on Carrey and Daniels. Stay tuned.

The lovable dimwits Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne may be back. And we’re not talking about their younger selves, but with the intention of an actual sequel with actors Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels. Deadline has reported Peter and Bobby Farrelly planned to create a sequel to 1994’s “Dumb and Dumber.” The site mentioned that “hope is for the Farrelly Brothers to direct this next.” Writers Sean Anders and John Morris have already been hired to write the screenplay. The writing duo’s credits included “Mr. Popper’s Penguins,” “Hot Tub Time Machine,” “She’s Out of My League,” and “Sex Drive.” Carrey did mention that there is a possible sequel to “Dumb and Dumber” this past summer while promoting “Mr. Popper’s Penguins.” So it looks like he was right. Comedy “Dumb and Dumber” grossed almost $250 million. It was followed by a prequel in 2003 with “Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd.

Peter and Bobby Farrelly have found their next project after just completing The Three Stooges. Deadline reports that the brothers are developing a sequel to their 1994 hit Dumb and Dumber, which they plan to direct next. Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels plan to reprise as Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne. The project is quickly moving ahead with Sean Anders and John Morris on board to pen the script. They co-wrote the Anders-directed Sex Drive and just co-directed the comedy I Hate You Dad starring Adam Sandler.
Dumb and Dumber was made on a $16 million budget, but grossed nearly $250 million worldwide. Original producers Charles B. Wessler, Brad Krevoy and Steve Stabler will be back as producers, as will the Farrelly’s longtime Conundrum Entertainment partner Bradley Thomas. Fox will release The Three Stooges April 4, 2012.
I am very interested in seeing a sequel to this, but only if Carrey and Daniels are in it.
